how did people react to this when it came out?

Meh, just like all the other comics
A resounding "meh" because it was super mediocre.

Is there any other candidates or are you forced to vote mayor mare
>>30498786
Hilarious that all those efforts to make it "anti-trump for kids" were a total waste
>>30498786
It sold like ass, to boot.

Never cared to read it, and after this post >>30498835 I think I'll actually avoid it. Any issue pushing any kind of agenda is automatically shit.

There have been some comics that have been more or less than meh. Dash and Soaren comic comics to mind for example.

Most who disliked it actually seemed to hate Filthy's characterization, if you can believe it.
Strangely? Not even that he was evil, it was that it implied that somehow he wouldn't know how to make deals for high quality materials at reasonable prices. The whole hillary Vs Trump thing almost never came up except during the preview when he came down the slide.
Other than that everyone just kind of went 'just another bad IDW comic, nothing new.'

The show seems to be the only medium that gets Filthy's character right. That's the only place where he's a good person who just so happens to also be a rich businessman. Everywhere else just makes him a generic evil capitalist.

I mean even the show has him unashamedly love money, his dream was about that after all, but he's still not a bad guy in any situation.

Ponies can't vote. Mayor Mare is appointed by Royal Warrant.
