It depends if you're reading a local paper or not. Then it varies from city to city.
Canterlot is usually full of the latest fashions, the fanciest parties, which celebrity is doing what, things like that.
Cloudsdale is more industry based. It lists a lot of boring things like kingdom wide rainbow supply and demand, weather patterns, cloud construction, economics, and employment. On the plus side, it always remembers to pay attention to the winners of Cloudsdale's many competitions, as well as whatever the Wonderbolts are up to.
Manehatten is anyone's guess. I imagine it would be similar to New York's papers, where everyone is competing to get the best story and there's a different newspaper for whatever you believe.
Ponyville doesn't really have a local paper, it's too small and everyone knows the news from each other.
The non-local paper just deals with international relations, the Princesses and their actions, monster attacks, the occasional hero like the mane six or Daring Do saving the day and horoscopes, which are serious business in Equestria.

I think Ponyville might have a small paper. Maybe a little pamphlet, or one of those single-page papers that details local events and features ponies around the community. You'd see photos of a group of ponies after charity work, or a party of happy fillies at a cuteceañera at Sugarcube Corner. Almost nothing significant. And if someone were to get hurt or pass away, you bet that there'd be a heartfelt article in that little paper.
