It was alright. It still had a story arc behind it, and the exchange between Matilda and Steven Magnet was one of the most cleverly written pieces of dialogue I've seen out of any of the writers.

I know most people like this episode, but my biggest gripe with TCMC was that the scenario of Rainbow Dash getting all of her friends their cutie marks at the exact same time is just unrealistic.
1. The butterflies saved fluttershy from falling to her death for plot convenient reasons. You never see such butterflies do that again in the show.
2. The simple fact that all of the ponies happened to make life changing decisions on the same day, time, on itself feels like a forced coincidence.

I don't think I've seen Equestria Games mentioned yet. I liked that episode in particular because of the way Spike is seen as a hero to the crystal ponies, and his stage fright following with him moping after failing to light the torch like a real dragon works really well. Then there's the scene where he botches the Cloudsdale anthem and that epic scene where he melts that giant ice cloud. I especially like the lesson at the end of it.
