Good: She's given Twilight an interesting role to play again instead of just rolling her out to save Equestria again.

Bad: She's kind of a rip off of season 1 and 2 smartass Twilight; but not as good. At this point she's playing a part similar to season 1 and 2 Twilight when she was still a socially awkward smartass. That said smartass Twilight was my favorite character, so I can't say I don't enjoy seeing that element back in the show.

This is such a nothing compliment. Every character brings something new to the show by virtue of existing. Maud brings something new, Big Mac brings something new. The hydra that showed up for five minutes in season one brought something new. It doesn't mean anything.

Pro: Her interactions with Spike are pretty interesting to watch.
Cons: I hate how everyone, side characters and princesses as well, completely love her despite not even spending an episode alone with her and having no real reason to.

Good thing: She's rather cute and is quite "relate-able", having clear social anxiety and maybe depression, especially in early season 6. Also freshens up the show a bit.

Bad thing: Her backstory needs to be fleshed out more, and stuck in less episodes. Her cutie mark and actual past needs to be explained, as well as the magical talent that managed to surpass Twilight.

The difference is that glim glam wasn't trying to change the world, she was unaware of what she was doing.
In her mind it was just payback, twilight broke up her village, starlight wanted to break up twilight's friendship.

Bad: She might become too much like Princess Twilight. Knee-jerk impulsive use of magic and poor social skills are a recipe for good situational comedy and drama. Also her emotional baggage is hard to identify with.

Good: the s6 finale and *most* of her s7 appearances so far have been really solid, and I quite like her as a character.

Bad: They've kinda been going overkill with her this season, no need to shove her in every episode innit. Also everything about her EQG appearance.

Her role in the show could have easily been taken by Trixie, a character who was already being compared to Twilight constantly, and could really benefit from her mentoring.
