I think it's for the best actually. I'm not against more members but it largely depends on who they are. If it's accessible, more people flock in without committing to it, without maybe having an understanding of how deep this really goes. And regarding the whole "word of god" thing, please remember how most of the things the real creator of the show said has been disregarded. They weren't explicitly disproven by anyone at the time, but when the show needed it Lauren's words and ideas were ignored. Now we both know that the subject of alicorn immortality probably won't be touched in the show ever, so we may never know the truth, but please consider that in this show only what Hasbro wants goes. So as far as the show canon is concerned one unofficial twitter reply doesn't mean much.

And also, in my own opinion (and I'm not using it as an argument, mind you) Meghan couldn't have replied any differently. What is she supposed to reply to that question, that yes, Twilight is now an immortal demigod and she's leaving her friends behind? It was 2013, imagine the shitstorm that would've caused. Same with the "is EQG canon" question.
