So, the Mane Six lose their elements, and are given a new power by the Tree of Harmony. Now, it looked like Rainbow Power was going to be their new Elements of Harmony: It defeated Tirek with a rainbow beam, just like the elements.
And then nothing. No follow-up, no explanation, hell, do they even mention the new power? The only time it ever showed up is in a dream, which doesn't even count!
Can they use it again? What powers do they hold? Do they need the chest still, even though it became the castle? Why weren't they used against Starlight or Queen Chrysalis?
MLP has tenuous writing consistency.
inb6 they show up in the movie

It was made to sell Rainbow Powerâ„¢ toys, but the toyline didn't do so well so they stopped mentioning it altogether

Too many cooks cumming in food ruins it. At the very least you need one person with a single clear vision to keep them in line and cumming in order and in the right places. Ideally you'd have a small group of writers who write all the episodes.

They never bring it up because when the episode aired everyonerightfullysaid it looked ugly and ridiculous.
>>30436598
They weren't given new power. They only got it for the brief moment the chest was opened, but then it got planted in the ground and became a castle

Rainbow power was one last gift to retards that thought the elements of harmony were a good idea.
As shit as it was, it really bothers we don't get ANY info on why they can't use it or how it works. Even the one idw comic that tried to expand on it was literally them saying "we're just as confused as you are". One throwaway line is all you need, why the fuck can't they just get it over with.

The same reason Twilight is in a shiny crystal Friendship castle instead of the renovated Castle of the Two Sisters.
Hasbro wanted a poorly-thought-out tie-in to their toys and jammed their thumb up the writer's ass to get it made, never mind how little sense it actually made.

It was a one time thing. Hasbro demanded some new toys, and they came up with the EOH 2.0
unfortunately, it wasn't well done due to being made specifically for toys, and so was quietly shuffled away.
By comparison, look at the EOH the mane six have in EQG where they took some time to come up with ideas for how they'd work and special abilities for each of the six instead of just generic rainbows.
We may get something similiar in the movie at the end for the mane six.

>Why were these NEVER expaned on?
Because it was a damned-if-you-damned-if-you-don't situation.
Also I don't recall it appearing in the dreams.

I think it might have been a one-time thing. Like when you're saving a really strong potion in an RPG and use it on a boss-fight to buff yourself and trash the boss in like two minutes.
>>30436598
it was the cringiest moment in the show. it's better off staying dead
>>30436598
Thank god it has never been used again, the Elements of Harmony, and by extension Rainbow Power were a shitty deus ex machina that is better off in the ground, literally it seems.

It was Luna's dream, from "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?"
>>30436598
What's with this sudden surge in retards who thought rainbow power was gonna be a permanant thing?
>>30440961
Its not rainbow power specifically, its just people wondering about if the EOH will ever return, and rainbow power was the last scene form of the EOH.
>>30440673
That was just in luna's dream though, its like how Dash was bruce lee in her dream or how AJ could actually do shit to fight magical threats in the dream world.
It was just due to Luna imagining it, its not there anymore.
