That may be true, but naming the pony "Greg" isn't even trying and the art is too good for this to be a "Greg the Hedgehog" situation. If you mix skill and low effort, you're using looking at an intentional decision. Is the whole thing a comedy? Be honest, OP, because it looks like a comedy.

Honestly I don't feel like they can wreck it any worse for me than they have, so I kind of want them to go the whole nine yards of crazy. Twilight marries a yak, Fluttershy gets pregnant with Discord's baby, Dash dies in a skiing accident. Just do all of it, go nuts.

I'm not arguing it's not wish fulfillment, but when you have a character that's either a pervert, an addict, mentally ill, a jerk, a manchild, and/or some combination of the five a majority of the time, you often find that it critiques the one's reading it and it can sometimes have actual tension, which can't be said of a Gary Stue representing the author getting the girl after solving something that isn't his fault.
And if that doesn't convince you, remember, it's porn a majority of the time as well, if it has fucking it's good enough for most.

What makes anon actually different is that like the show, he gets passed around to a bunch of different writers who have there own idea on what it/he should be. So no anon isn't a Gary Stu representing an author. He is a Gary Stu representing /mlp/

but on a serious note, there are four main plots for anon.

When most people here want porn or comedy fast in only a few amount of posts, those kinds of stories should be expected. But there are outliers, as in all media. There are subversions that go beyond either finding a way go back to the first two or killing him, for example I remember one where Anon lets Twilight insult ponies after a spell goes awry or something along those lines, eventually for him and other ponies to get truly insulted at the end. It was better than it sounds. I'd also argue that it isn't always horse pussy landing at his feet, he often makes mistakes and has to deal with them. Maybe I should concede he isn't great most of the time, but I think he has more potential and is funnier.

I don't think you understand what a Gary Stu is.
Gary Stu is the male counterpart of Mary Sue, and a Mary Sue is a flawless, universally liked character that drops into a setting and is suddenly the focus of everyone's attention, admiration, and adoration. Mary Sues have no failings, succeed at everything, and always seem to have a solution to every problem that comes their way.

If the story features a strange language, Mary Sue is suddenly the only one that can speak it.
If the story traps Mary Sue and the other characters, suddenly Mary Sue knows a rare and complicated form of martial arts that she uses to subdue her captors.
If the story features computers at any point, Mary Sue is a master hacker.
If the story features a hunk of a man, you'd better fucking believe he's going to chase after Mary Sue now that she's entered the scene.
And most importantly: Even if Mary Sue fails, she does so in a way that ultimately causes her to succeed. That is, her fuck-ups are either so small in scope they eventually lead to redemption, or her fuck-ups themselves serve a means to solve a much larger problem, thus negating the original fuck-up, and saving Mary Sue from any negative consequences.

The original Mary Sue, a character created for a now-ancient Star Trek Fanfiction, was certainly a self-insert on the author's part at the time, but that term doesn't extend to every self-insert there is. You can have a self-insert not be a Mary Sue. You can have an avatar character like Anon not be a Mary Sue.

Mary Sue is a very specific kind of character, and this "Greg" guy in these comics isn't that, simply because he has flaws and fails, thus expelling him from the trope.
