Oh, gee...when I was first a "brony", I was practically elated. I was going through tough times (got raped by me own best friend), and when I found the show, I was just so happy.

God, I was so naive back then. I was the most autistic fuck you'd imagine. I look back at it now and cringe. I had pretty accepting friends, though thank god, but the things I did were just embarassing. I didn't care, really -- I was just so happy to feel great again. It motivated me to pick up writing once more, and I started to recapture my joys.

Then I fell in love with a character while writing her. Ironically, it was this single ost autistic "aifuism" that made me realize how cringey I was. I soon thought when writing my waifu in a story: "Jesus, I'm kinda embarassing, aren't I?" I realized that I was disobeying everything she stood for, too. She was all about making fiends, going out and experiencing the world even though the temptations inside one's own room can distracting. She encourages people to mature and grow, to gain a group of others and to be happy. So, I finished the story and started thinking "what would ____ do?" Cringey, I know, but it's helped me become more aware of myself. I'm still quirky, i'll always be, but man, I've grown so much. I have a job, I talk to people, I have a nice house...I have literally transitioned into a man because of my own friggin' autism, and thus become more conscious of myself.

I was cringe, but my own cringe saved me from being cringier.

-VERY openly brony in high school

I did some roleplaying on YouTube. You could still have custom backgrounds and all that shit, but then Google changed how YouTube works, that shit was gone, and I just lost interest. Changed my name and did all I could to distance myself from before.

Back in highschool, I found out thag one of my friends also liked the show. I was super excited to have other brony friends, so for his birthday, I wanted to get him some pony stuff. I'm on the older side of the fandom, so by the time MLP started, I knew to hide my power level, so most of my autism is private shame. I was in the army during the early seasons, and as one of the few unmarried NCO's, I ended up pulling CQ a lot on weekends. That basically means that after I got done working on Friday, I immediately started another shift from that evening well into the A.M. on Saturday with a soldier or two under me, basically responsible for taking care of any incidents on the base that happen over night.

We had a schedule for when everyone on the shift was supposed to take lunch, with mine first, because pecking order. But I always let the lunch times break from the schedule a bit, and always took my lunch last instead, letting the soldiers under me go first. They appreciated it, and thought I was one of the nicer NCO's.

I watched the whole first and second season on that first Netflix freebee when my little sister was watching it. I didn't even know what brony was or meant and didn't care. Year 2012. I used to own a Z32 300ZX. Filled it with pony shit. Had the McDonald's toys in the rear view mirror and pony shirts over the seats. All in hope of finding other brownies irl. Went to car meets with the shit plastered in my car.

When my coworkers asked about it, I would pretend that I had no idea what they were taking about. Tried to fuck a coworker I was interested in very heavy like. She heard about all of my Brony antics and threw me in the friend zone.

I didn't consider how much autism was in the fandom. Once I figured out what i was projecting, I immediately got my act together and left it behind me. Although I still have a massive collection of the pop figures, they are tucked away in the closet.

Unfortunately, I have princess luna's cutie mark tattooed on my upper arm. I don't see this as a setback because the show still saved me from depression and it's a reminder of my younger days.
