It's been a good month for horse music. First Vylet Pony dropped a really fun album, and now the fresh P@D with like 60 new tracks. Haven't heard the full thing yet, mostly just what got individual releases on YT, but some of the stuff like 4everfree's new chant or replacer's track are pretty fun.
P@D albums are always great like that. There is at least some amount of quality control, you get a wide selection of genres, new artists to discover and old artists brought back.

Whateverer's new song was kinda meh. It lacks a strong idea, Frailty was overall better. That "By starlight, fight Starlight" line actually made me laugh out loud. Who thought that was a good or clever idea?

It doesn't work because it's too forced. It's not a clever rhyme, nor a wordplay, you're forcing that "by starlight" to go first for it to work. Because "by starlight" isn't a really common phrase, it feels off. And I don't know what being a metal fan has to do with that, sure there's plenty of cheese (which I can agree with as a fan of classic 70s and 80s heavy and power), but there's still a lot of actual thoughts and clever lyrics to be found. Definitely more than your mainstream radio pop and EDM can offer.

There are many flavors to it, it depends on your taste. /mu/ has a lot of charts for that, like pic related.
Traditional heavy, power and thrash are probably the most beginner friendly. Get the first Black Sabbath albums with Ozzy, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden for heavy, Blind Guardian and Helloween/Gamma Ray for power, early Megadeth and Metallica for thrash. Those are like the most vanilla, most known and also generally most respected. If you want a different flavor, something more experimental, faster or heavier, you can look around later.
If I'd have to narrow it down to five albums, get Paranoid from Black Sabbath, Sad Wings of Destiny and Screaming for Vengeance from Judas Priest, Powerslave from Iron Maiden and Rust in Peace from Megadeth. That takes you across the spectrum of what the 70s and 80s mainstream metal had to offer, with a taste of what's to come in the 90s.
