Can't speak for all, but motivation has run dry, especially after yeras of doing it, and having a shitton of projects on the back-burner, and the drama surrounding MTG, the leninfag, and a former writefag's autism has made the general a little off-putting. And then there's the issue of not knowing what will sell. Some people like Sunset's former self, others like her new self, some like the idea of her going back to Equestria, some don't. Even then, a lot of that has already been explored through greentext. It's harder to break in than when she was brand new to the scene.

You know, after reading that post, I'm starting to think that this place might have changed since the last time I bothered to post green here a couple of months back. But the reason I might not post it here is because it's been it's own thread for a lengthy time now, and the main focus of the story might not be revolving around Sunset for long anyway, depending on how things go. Though I have always been carrying this idea around that involved moving the story through different threads according to whom the main plot was about. I'm really sorry about that. I still like Sunset a whole lot, and I'll never forget my roots. But the formula of writing fanfiction puts me in a box where I can't define things much without going out of character.

There was a guy in here the other day who said "All fanfiction is shit". And you know, some of it can be.

First of all, Sunset either has to be in Equestria or Canterlot high, or some real world equivalent, plus without her friends the story starts to fall apart as one of Sunsets core aspects is the connection to her friends.

Basically, if you remove Sunset from her setting, it's hard to really "keep her in character".

I'm probably not alone in thinking that I like Sunset more for her potential as a waifu than the Canterlot High universe plot thing.

What was the point of this? You have a gimmick, but you don't do anything with it. Cut out all the references to Sunset being a toy, and you have the exact same story, albeit a little shorter. Anon and Sunset grab a bite to eat, play some video games, then say they love each other. Not exactly gripping, and doesn't have enough detail or imagery to make it stand out from all the other "comfy" stories I've read.

No, you don't have to have a long story with plot twists, or characters with the depth of an ocean, but at least make the gimmick mean something. As it is now, it's a story about a guy who goes on a date with his dream girl, who may or may not be real, which doesn't even matter. With a little tweak to Anon's character, you could have had that, plus a story about a guy who willingly indulges in a blatant fantasy, risking coming across as a literal schizophrenic to everyone around him, because it's vastly preferable to the reality he lives in. That's just one example off the top of my head.

Make your story say something. I don't care if it's one post, or 1,000. Do something with it. Don't settle for just being "comfy." Because no amount of self-awareness is ever going to elevate your work.

Sorry if I come across as bashing your work, because that's not what I'm trying to do. It's not bad by any means. It's just that criticism is hard to dole out in a pleasant manner.

I remember those golden times. Got in just as Sunset exploded all over the board. She's always going to have a special place in my heart as the waifu who helped me break out of my shell and really get creative.

So Alex is here offering to move TaT here with a link to the Pastebin so people can catch up and some other guys are saying he should post the whole thing and they'll love it regardless, I'm guessing they haven't read it before. Overall it's an anti-waufufaggotory story where the first third is basically Sunset wanting Anon and Anon saying fuck off, the second third ramps this up and adds drama then the final third is nothing like the first two and currently has very little to no Sunset in it.

Alex, I'd personally say a Pastebin link would work better but if the majority wants a dump I'd say do it progressively, 20-30 posts a day maybe, so you don't bomb out the threads. I'd also be tempted to say retcon the start and basically kick it off from Brothans, but that's just me.

What Alex needs to do is make a one new TaT thread so most of his audience can find him and spend the thread writing and telling them he's moving here. That'll get them all gathered up and get Alex all warmed up. It will be like a final solo thread. Then Alex moves the story here as he continues it, and anyone who cares enough can read the pastebin. But the people from his thread will come over too and add to the traffic in here and we'll have even more people than the Glim threads.
