Agreed. It's good, but you can tell the writers are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for episode ideas and it's lacking something original writers had.

They're doing good with revealing the long awaited ideas (RD, AJ parents, alicorn sisters) but aren't establishing new and inspiring ideas people can be invested, wanting more which is crucial especially for the current situation of the show.

Fluttershy leans in might be the worst FS episode as of yet. I guess you could consider that an achievement.
Forever filly was... yeah. Not shit, but below average.
The yak one was a 6/10. Just a randumb ponk episode.

I'm still unsure about discordant harmony, but I think I liked it. Even though I had really mixed feelings at first.

It made me start regularly browsing /mlp/ again, the last time being around the time that the first Equestria Girls movie came out.

Trixie, Glimmer and Maud are currently my favourite characters. The recent supporting cast of characters (e.g. Lily Lace and Inky Rose) are really cool.

The Perfect Pear sealed the deal for me. This is a good season.

It's refreshing to enjoy the show without taking it too seriously... and then getting addicted to it again. Once you take it super seriously, you see all the cracks forming in each episode. It ain't fun.

It feels different, obviously, in the good way. I'd hate if the show stayed the same forever.

This time it feels like I'm more interested in the show than the bajillion PMVs that would come out every week about cutie marks flying around the screen.

I don't know if that's true. I think the show gets bearable again if you let yourself skip episodes and you don't worry about the continuity or the characters, but I wouldn't call it exactly refreshing.

I know I got on the ride because I was kind of excited about the lore and the idea of these cute little poners trying to survive in a world of dragons and manticores. Also because their personalities were really well defined, and the snark contrasted really well with the sugary exterior.

The snark's almost completely gone, the ponies are the rulers of the world, the lore and setting are gone, and I don't know. At its bare minimum I feel like the show has reached a watchable level by skipping episodes with Rarity, Dash, and Twilight in them, because all those episodes are going to be about ponies rolling the world flat and condensing it into a tiny little speck for easy consumption.

Much, much, much better than season 6. That's not saying much, but after I almost dropped the show thanks to Haber and his endless fuckups as story editor, I'm really enjoying this season, and I'm finally hyped again. The Perfect Pear was absolutely amazing, I hadn't liked an episode so much since CotLM. And even the filler episodes are so nice that I can ignore the bad aftertaste of A Royal Problem, literally the only episode of the Lady Writers that I didn't like. Unless something absolutely horrible happens in one of the remaining episodes, this will end up being one of my favorite seasons.

When I think of the show, I don't think of her at all except as another character. In recent memory, I think of Top Bolt, a story about codependent relationships, and Flutter Brutter, a story about friendship with a mooching family member, and Parental Glideance, a story about friendship with one's parents, and Discordant Harmony, a story about how friends can be very different and appreciate each other precisely for their differences.

And, by the way, if Twilight often delivers friendship lessons, it is because she is the Princess of Friendship and Starlight's friendship tutor. It's kind of her entire character. Which may be why no-one has ever noticed or complained about it except for you if it's even true; it didn't happen in any of >>30374438. I think you just find Twilight sanctimonious for some reason and it grates you, so that on the occasion when she does talk about friendship, it sticks with you because you hate her for no reason.

When the episode names were revealed, I really feared that the new stuff will completely fuck up the Apple parents episode, but heck... it was surprisingly well executed.

I am definitely still worried about that for Season 8 (or 9 or 10 or however many we get). In TPP They didn't outright say they were dead, in fact they specifically avoided saying it. Just say it and get it over with and make it 100% confirmed!

Now there's still the possibility of Hasbro insisting that the parents are alive and having them show up in some future episode which will completely detract from the emotional punch of this (excellent) episode.

Besides those, the rest of the episodes went from nice to stellar.
Even the weak ones, being Fluttershy and Flurry's, were way better that the S6 average.
Apple parents was definitely the stellar one. Probably one of my favourites in the entire series.
So overall a good season, let's say it's going worse than I hoped for, but better than I expected.
