As soon as AJ's parents were mentioned back in Crusaders of the Lost Mark, all I could think about was the d-word. I wanted the show to acknowledge their death. After this episode, I'm so glad they didn't.

Instead of being sad for 22 minutes, they weaved more Apple backstory into it and celebrated their lives with their love story. The episode aimed to give them personality instead of being vague cardboard cutouts. They remembered Mayor Mare's mane colour. They remembered what the moon looked like.
