So why are we supposed to hate this episode?

By all respects it's a 7/10 episode at least. Do people just not like Discord? I can't blame them but here he wasn't really harmful to anyone. He paid everypony for their goods and thanked Pinkie sincerely after all.
Do Flutterfags just not like it when she acts more extroverted for once? That's a dumb reason as hell to dislike an episode but I can see that being some people's reasoning.

That's not the problem. From the last thread:

That said Glossaryck in Star Vs. is a much more well handled 'chaotic' character than Discord is,

I was writing a fanfic recently with Discord in it and it threw up some interesting thoughts.

I realized that the problem is ponies are supposed to socialize just like humans as well as hold the same values and norms; Discord isn't a pony, he's something far more alien and (as the episode shows) he is intrinsically dependent on chaos, the antithesis of the core principal of pony society.

Yet despite him being this alien being from reverse world everyone expects him to think, feel and socialize like a pony would. You can't meet an alien species and expect them to grasp concepts like empathy or loyalty just because they understand manipulation and deceit, these things may not even exist in their society.

TL/DR You cant judge Discord by your own society standards because he isn't one of you.

The problem is that he has nothing to teach or give, apart from what the ponies have taught HIM. He's just there to be inept. The season 6 finale was a rare exception.

I used to like this ship, but then it became a meme. I don't support meme ships.

Genuinely adorable episode. It felt like a similar theme to something they've done before but it was still fun, and this is the cutest Fluttershy has been in a long time. I really find her and Discord's relationship to be endearing now.

Oh man, that was so cute when Fluttershy was trying to crazy things up.

In the leak thread, there was a lot of hate.

I was expecting a shit episode, but instead most of the negative anons were just some jaded motherfuckers with cloudy judgment.

This episode was a 10/10 with great writing, gags, and a plot process some anons just need to understand to appreciate.

I agree with the anon who said Discord makes the most interesting visual gags. I find lots -not all- but lots of his gags clever or fun.

As for the plot, it was great with proper pacing and buildup and conclusion.
The anons who criticize the plot should try being more into social and come back to this episode later when they actually understand what it means to work to change yourself out of fear you'll turn off someone you like for being the real you. It's a real thing, it's happened to me before, and the episode did an awesome job portraying it. And the characters were not OOC, it was not boring, and it was not doable in 11 minutes like some sperglords say.

Again, 10/10 for what it was.
I love genuine risk-taking and change, and I'm glad the ep was something that "Didnt feel like mlp" because every episode having the same feeling is a trash thing to have.

Pretty much this.

That was a funny and cute episode. The only negative for me was the real problem to solve of the episode (Discord fading) required a lot of setup, came really late in the episode and was resolved after a minute of Fluttershy's antics.
The episode was reaction image gold though.


I don't think we had any additional bingo marks this episode. And we didn't have enough bedroom eyes
