This is the exact moment I had in mind. DHX doesn't need big meme faces on their characters for facial expressions to be funny, just this.

I think what makes Trixie (and Starlight) likable characters is that they weren't 'good people' so they're the best characters to learn friendship lessons since they can just be themselves. The writers don't have to force them to be out of character like any of the mane 6 in order for them to learn a lesson.

The show wrote itself into a corner from the very first 2 episodes - the role models exemplify friendship, except, well, every episode is about them, so there needs to be conflict so that they can learn something.

You don't get that issue with StarTrix (in theory). Let flawed characters learn something.

It was a poorly conceived episode, trying to squeeze in a odd moral that, while technically true, shouldn't really be something that warrants thinking about. The entire episode is a mess and is hated for good reason.
