Rarity was originally a dumb slutty valleygirl stereotype that was obsessed with make-up, dressing herself, girly things and having boyfriends.
She didn't have an elegant harpsichord theme song, she wasn't a dress designer, she couldn't sing, she didn't have that lady demeanour, she was originally a young airhead obsessed with stroking her own ego.

You can notice a lot of her stereotypical flaws are still in there, from the boyfriends, to the dress-up sessions, the obnoxious bursts of arrogance and ego-stroking.

Executives are pieces of shits. That is why Cadence and Shining Armor turned out so horrible after all the talent left or wasn't given creative freedom.
