More likely the Tree gave the mane six the map, not as a reward for their actions and service, but so they could find its TRUE wielder.

This is why the first mission was "find starlight" and every single important event the map was involved in also involved starlight-- Look at what the mane six's map missions have been. Help bumfuck nobodies out in random spots. Starlights? Fix the two god princesses relationship.
In the finale, the tree will merge all six of the elements into a single element, THE element of harmony (singular) and she will be its destined bearer, becoming the princess of harmony.

How would a seventh element even make logical sense? Honesty, laughter, loyalty, generosity, and kindness were basically the ingredients to making the element of magic, and friendship is magic. That was a personal opinion to a hypothetical question. The seventh Element is not canon, even in EqGverse. The fact that Sunset has a seventh color is undeniable, but there is absolutely no canonical connection to a seventh Element, much less an official acknowledgement that it is in fact empathy.
