Magic depends a lot on user as well, it's never been just about raw energy.
In order to really shine you have to know and master the spell and the theory behind it, and have mental fortitude and concentration to shape and control it.

Earth ponies don't have some kind of super strength. It's shown that AJ and RD have rather similar ammount of physical power.
Also for example if AJ bucked trees only using her strenght, kick strong enough to shake all apples would completely destroy tree. So she must be using some kind of her magic to make apples fall. If that kick was aimed at something different than tree it wouldn't be that strong. Same for Maud destroing rock in Sombra War timeline. If it wasn't rock but enemy her punches wouldn't be so destructive.
They probably just have some more muscle mass, and stronger bones, like comparing human male and female. They are just a little stronger but not because of magic but because thats how they are build.

Also they can't be only one species capable of growing plants. We have other animals in the show, so did ponies grow food even for mice and other shits, living far away from any village. Did they have Earth ponies who grow grass in the wilderness, or maybe all of Equestria where ponies don't live is just wasteland.
And what about other species, griphons or minotaurs. They have agriculture, otherwise they wouldn't be capable of building cities. You can't create civilization of hunters-gatherers. It's just impossible. And before invention of trains they couldn't just buy all their food from ponies, so they must have some kind of agriculture.

Earth ponies and Equestrians (pegasi contribute with good weather, for example) seem to be one of few species that can grow plants WELL. Agriculture as you say must exist elsewhere for life to exist, but if you look at the non-Equestrian locations we've seen, life isn't exactly thriving.

To the north, we have the Frozen North. Inhospitable to everything and ruled by windigoes who feed on anger.

The apple trees planted in the wasteland shouldn't even grow, yet with the help of pony magic they thrive and give good harvest, some of which can be given to the native Buffalo herd (who were previously migratory due to the poor growth)

Then there are the wild places. There could be more places like the Everfree. Places where life does thrive, but in a wild, magical, frenzied sort of way.

Basically, for non-equestrians there are three options:
- Farm what little you can and stave off starvation on a daily basis
- Subsist your diet on something non-organic, be it magic or gemstones
- Live in a dangerous, magically fueled area where even the plants might try to eat you or enchant you in turn.

So you didn't pay attention to the episode then. The episode states that each tribe did one thing and one thing only. Pegasus controlled the weather, Unicorns controlled the sun and moon, and Earth was farmers. The thing that fucked all non Earth ponies when the blizzard hit, was that they weren't farmers ever, at any time of their lives. And farmer is much more that just plant a seed and it'll grow. Condition of the soil, weather, and even the time of day the seed was planted cab affect the crop in a positive or negative way, and if you're not a farmer, or have any experience with farming, your crops will die before the even sprout.

And to refute your what about Griffins, they are not ponies. The only thing they had to rely on was the sun and moon being raised by the ponies. Nothing else. Meaning that they, at some point, learned how to farm.
