Honestly, this movie SERIOUSLY has to succeed, or its going to be a near irrepperable blow to the series as a whole: if its able to make bank, hasbro will finally start taking it seriously 100% and accept that its adult fans are an incredibly important part of its audience (Since, in order for it to truly be a big success and not just break even, its going to need to pull in adults like movies like Frozen have), to say nothing of being assured that the series has gender neutral appeal.

2) By your logic, no children's film would ever exist, because kids can't drive to the theatre. But here's the thing: they market it to kids because they know children will beg their parents to take them to see it. Or, alternatively, because the parents know their children like My Little Pony, and they see an inoffensive kid flick as a nice weekend out.

False. the movie is PRECISELY why we're in a state of Stagnation: they can't move anything forward or upset the status quo due to the movie: the movie is frozen in a state of canon from 2 years ago, since they can't really alter the movie scenes on the fly as they're making it.

As such, the Show HAD to be stuck in a state of "status quo is god" to avoid making the movie's canon be messed up when it comes out.


Once the movie is done with, they'll be 100% free to start taking risks and moving forward. Hopefully this means they'll be able to put starlight on a bus and go back to the mane six. If nothing else, I'm pretty sure Meghan will mandate they start focusing on twilight again after the movie, since Twilight is admitted, by herself, to be her favorite pony and the one she empathizes with the most.

I think the movie will be decent. I'm not a huge fan of Meghan, as she is the one who basically made the show revolve around twilight and kicked the other 5 into the corner.
But she CAN do good action scenes, and I think this movie will be heavy on action. And while I hate twilight being the central black hole fixture of plots, I'll take her over starlight any day.
Plus, there's still tons of little kids who like the show, or who else would be buying the merchandise? that should lead to at least decent sales.
