Two hundred.
Don't seem much when you buck one tree at a time, and there's more on the horizon. When it happens, you focus on just that tree, making sure you got the most out of every one of them, and then you move on. You don't take a step back to see how far you've come, especially not when you can't see the end over the horizon yet. You know it'll come, but for the moment, there's just the tree you're with, and all the wonderful fruit you can get from it.
Before you know it, you've come so far, and nobody can believe you're still going.
Just one little seed is what started it all.

And don't even get me started on Cadence, who can't even manage a basic meeting with the Equestrian Games representative. Fucking annoying. Go do actual princess stuff, because apparently everyone else got the pamphlets mixed up or something and thinks "Princess" means "Beat cop."

Then it grew into fruit of every flavor and texture. Action, drama, adventures, and so much comedy. So much stuff that reminds you to just smile, and so many who grew and changed. Good or bad, every fruit was precious.
So many took a chance, wrote, and shaped the world.
So many wonderful depictions of the world that excited the imagination.
So many times it was just a few words that needed spoken to help.
Take a step back, take it all in, enjoy the journey most thought would never make it this far.
But we did, and we keep growing, and until the very end, we will.
To all the /pa/ls here, long gone, or with us in our hearts.

The guy has his own little harem of mares that are *hyperbole alert* all about throwing sexual innuendo at him nowadays. Chrysalis is just the most obnoxious about it. And things like 42's nosebleeds are the sort of thing I'm reflecting negatively on. It's a comedy thing, but it feels like it was just a cheap addition to puff up Shining Armor back when he was the resident whipping boy. The whole harem thing gets joked about outside of stories because the stories reflect that. Like having everybody clamber into bed with him.
It's a joke. But, as gets pushed here (and I'm not always on board with), nothing is ever just a joke. There's some underlying reason and consistency. So what does it say about the characters when they all clamber into bed with Shining Armor? It says a number of things depending on author depiction and reader interpretation.
They don't need to be fucking or romancing, since that wasn't even what I was getting at.
What I'm getting at is that I dislike how certain characters behave/are made to behave around SA. This isn't SA's fault; it's just how he and other characters are written. But I dislike him because he is a conduit for that sort of writing and I also dislike how he acts sometimes.
I can write him/them to simply not do that, but that's not the point.
And before the argument police step in, we should still be allowed to have these discussions since, well, all stories are going to be Non-Canon anyways. But. I've said about all I wanted to.

Huh, so apparently there's a moviemaker cheat built into the game that could allow me to change animations which would probably include expressions too. I'd have to play with it to find out.
Doing that sounds like it would be a lot easier than what I was doing. In order to make Celestia cry, I used a gravestone to make her mourn, but you can't buy a gravestone, so I moved Fluttershy into the household, aged her up until she died, and used her gravestone. Someone died in order to get that last shot.
It's not original art, but converting some of /pa/'s stories into comic form might actually be feasible.

Couldn't tell you thing one about Glim but Sunset is a mixture of arrogant and sincere. No, this is the point where you and the other should finally agree that we should move further from the Canon and do our own thing. We stick to close and its limiting the growth of the Canon Characters because nearly all their potential in Canon has been tapped and we're using that as a guide line for them.
Why do you think AUJ is so likable and appealing to watch? Cause she's divergent not only from our canon but the Show Canon too.

Honestly... this. I mean, its been great that we've kept as close to the canon as long as we have but as we've seen with Glimmer... Well, FIM is approaching FOP levels of crap with how they've handled her.
I mean look at Chrysalis and the lings, we had barely anything to go on, we were not going to be influenced by the comics and made shit up as we went and it was good, more or less for their development. Look what we did with Sparkle Joules! We made that up and it was a nice little development point for Caddy! Spike, despite how things ended up, got shit done with his good intentioned edginess before it became a detriment to his character.
All of these were full on break aways from the canon and we saw shit get done. Cordy was amazing! No canon counterpart. Apple Crazy was Amazing! Again no canon counterpart. If we just added stuff here and there we might do well enough, but if we pull away just a bit more, we'd have more leg room to work with.

I mean, shit, even if we did ignore the shows canon, OUR canon has entrenched those values and characterization so hard because we stuck to them for hundreds of threads, we still couldn't do anything like that without it being an OOC turn for plots sake.

Spike is probably the wrong example, his "good" moments were all about him suddenly growing wise with no buildup(His handling of Rairty and Blueblood), everyone being terrified of him for no reason, him getting away with threatening a bunch of others and nobody even calling him out on it, being a "ladies man" who had others fawning over him with no buildup(Oh god, Rarity. RARITY.) and then stealing everything relevant from the MC's while they stood back and did nothing. (Applejack why. Twice. He did it to you TWICE)
Spike is an example of how to do canon divergent wrong,
Chrysalis on the other hand started as she was, went crazy when she was defeated and then comically abused, and slllllooooooowwwwwlllyyyy built up every positive thing she ever got. Hell, her first major involvement in an arc was still "Become ALL POWERFUL!" Cadence was also good, exploring an obvious idea(So if love is a power, does it have, like, ratings? Like any other power?) that the show obviously won't go into, because no kid cares about voltage outputs. Both of those examples A, put the character in a situation the show never would, or B, explored something the show would never look into.
The biggest issue with divergence of character is that the show up to Rainbow Falls is canon, which means we're still dealing with them. That isn't to say they can't change, but that change has to have reasoning.

The problem isn't the show canon as a basis, the problem is that the characters are dumbasses in /our/ canon. I mean, do you honestly think that Cadence can't count past 'blue' in show canon, or that she'd mistake a doll for Shining Armor? These are things that /pa/ made up for comedy purposes and they're canon to the story, which has consequences (neutral sense of the word) in regards to future comedy or serious moments.
Princess Celestia can screw around doing her weird shit with Shining Armor and passing the buck to Applejack (comedy), but then things like Hooffington happen where her negligence in order to goof off comes back to bite her in the form of one of her closest subjects ordering the destruction of a city in order to kill her former protege, who she couldn't be bothered to make amends with (serious).
That's just how the writing plays out.

I get what you're saying on the whole but this kind of ignores that most of the most impressive, serious stuff came from a comedic center.
Since you brought it up, Cadence counting to Blue, which ended up being one of the most interesting and unique things about her, and lead to a lot of more rounded development. What was the original joke, ha! That's no a number, she can't count at all. It was pretty funny.
But then it turns out, yeah, she actually can count to blue. She's not stupid and nobody gave her the dumb stick, it's that her powers allowed her to see intensity and a higher 'number' of something undefined and impossible to put into solid figures, so it instead comes out in expression of color, which is the closest thing she can put to this. It turned something the show utterly ignores, Cadence's love magic ability, into a part of her that shows how she sees the world is on a spectrum nobody else can. What is just "Another alicorn who is there for baby" in the show turned into "An alicorn that really is special." And it all started with a single joke that seemed almost "For the Lulz" level random.
Other things swing both ways. AJ tormenting Shiny early thread? She just wanted him to put his hoof down. Celestia goofing off? She's stressed out constantly from her inability in areas the show just tries to slide by. Why'd she pass the buck to Applejack? Probably our best idea, since it turns out that all along, it was one of her famous "Tests", you know, like she did to Twilight all the time. Only, it backfired! We finally got to examine what the fallout of playing chessmaster with actual lives can be, like the show barely touched on with the Tirek incident before forgetting.
None of our characters are 'dumbasses', especially not when we found our footing and really hit our stride.

He's a pretty well rounded tragic character, definitely a textbook case of need overriding all his potential. He's too clingy to the ideas of being the best of a hive, to the point everything he does is for it, even if it mostly ignores him.
He could totes be a wicked amazing professor. Or hell, he is an amazing agent most days, able to go toe to toe with a lot who seem to be out of his league, but he always fails in the end.

I seriously have not gotten that impression. I get that he's sad he failed to save Hoofington, he's sad that so many got swept up in it, sad that it came to that, but he never really gave me the feeling he's sad that Sunset is dead, or that he was the direct cause of that death.
With AJ's new ideal of JUSSSTICE, it might actually give her a reason to go off on him, to MAKE him understand why what he did was wrong as a concept, not that he failed.

Worse, it seems as if he's pushing thr blame onto others. I ORDERED this. Pennydrop only intervened on my command. The destruction of Hoofington and the death of Sunset and thr people in Hoofington are mu fault.'
It's really easy to justify the means. It's way harder to shoulder blame and accept that you made the wrong decision at some point.

All joking aside, his biggest issue was the fact that he just did not have any main interactions with the big cast. He was very much a one-person character, all of his has our actions were centered around her, so when she had something to do he ultimately fell by the wayside and had nobody else to latch onto an order to recover. He almost got that it with the Griffins, but when they too took a hiatus he took a hit and just never recovered.

Ehhhh, I'd actually give it to Shiny for that one. Chrysalis very much included in that. I mean, even one offs who never intended to stick around like Awkwardling and the Rainbolts have somehow persevered, and he's obviously the sole reason 42 and 18 are very much main cast memebers.
Ironically he only became popular at all because of AJ fucking with him and then later Chrysalis giving him the business, but as far as "If you cling to him you will somehow be involved in a lot of shit", he's the top.

“APPLEJACK! EVERYBODY’S FIGHTIN’!”
The declaration of the smallest member of the apple clan, or at least the most recent version of so many all around her, came as little surprise to the weary, tired version of her elder sister.
All around them, they were indeed battling.
With a thunderous boom, two massive Titanic hooves clashed in the sky above them, both now towering above even the full sized form of another Titan below, one who could only look up in awe and wonder of what would come.
The hail of bullets had never ceased against the poor confusion stallion who had huddled away behind his shield that could not be broken, the firing of a dozen different green blasts met others of all colors as the changeling Queen attempted to diffuse the situation the only way she knew how, copious firepower, and others met with her to hold back the blast as best they could with their own means of de-escalation, mostly a rainbow of magic.
There were arguments on all sides that devolved into punches, there was joy and laughter that lead to roughhousing a little too strong, there were all sorts of debates going on as to the meaning of love, life, and happiness, and it came to be that the best way to make them a reality was copious amounts of violence, serious or not.
There were battles far and wide, grand and small, powerful and weak, and they were everywhere.
“Ah’ know.”
Yet, not once did those weary eyes waver.
“What’re we gonna do!?”
The answer came as simply and swiftly as a bolt of lightning, and the illumination hung after in those wide eyes.
All with the single touch of a hoof to a little ponies head.
“We celebrate.”
Confusion twisted Applebloom’s short little face into something unnatural, it would have been amusing had the scrunched face not been so deathly serious.
“Now don’t you be fussin’, this is a time for smiles.”

It couldn’t escape it for long, or the tiny little cone hat that was snapped into place on her head.

It itched, but the yellow filly just couldn’t bring herself to pull the hat off her head.
Not when she saw the smile on her big sister’s face.
“There’s been a lot of fighting going on. We’ve been at it since.. feels like the very start sometimes. Ain’t been all good…”
A smile that wavered when she looked for someone, and failed to find them.
It came back soon enough.
“But it ain’t been bad either. There’s been good stuff in there, great stuff. And it’s all because we kept tryin’.”
It was impossible for the filly to keep that smile off her own face when with one movement, her elder sister snapped on her own party hat.
She had not taken off her own Stetson at any point in that.
“So let’em fight, let’em go at it, let’em have their throwdown, and ya’ know why?”
“Why?”
A sudden squeak of wheels caught her attention, and it wasn’t too long before the source was revealed.
At this point, she didn’t even question the giant cake, where it had come from, who baked it, every candle lit, two hundred for reasons she couldn’t fathom, she couldn’t figure out anything at all, and she never even tried.
She just took it all in when the alicorn smiled.
“All this right here?... it’s in the past.”
That pony looked to the world, her world, and oh how she smiled.
“All this fightin’, all the hate, all the anger… time ta’ put it in the past. We’ve grown, we’ve learned, and we’ve changed. Let’s see how far we’ve come… cause all of that is comin’ to an end.”
She blew out the candles.
“What did ya’ wish for?”

For once, the pony didn’t tell the truth. She simply hugged her little sister to her side.
“Silly billy! She can’t tell you that, otherwise it won’t come true!”
A lot of questions were answered when the pink partyloving pony popped up at her side. A lot of them went unanswered as to how she had gotten there and how long the allegedly non-magical pony had been there.
“Dang right, Pinkie. Now… HEY! EVERYONE!”
It shouldn’t have done anything, not really.
Somehow, it still managed to make everyone stop.
“Stop yer’ bellyachin’ for like two minutes, let’s party!”
Nobody seemed to know what the pony meant, why she meant it, or if every scrap of sanity that had ever inhabited her hat ridden head had simply gone away.
When the strange music started, sounding eerily similar to a certain song at the start of a mislabeled ‘best night ever’, they found themselves losing that sanity as well.
For now, there was only a party to be had.
“WOOOOOO!”
Who had popped the cork, nobody knew.
All they knew was that it was too late, they could never take it back.
The party had begun.
“WOOO!”
Officially as could be, when someone exploded out of the cake.
“Who wants some HOT FROSTING!”
Far, far, far too many mares, and worryingly one unknown male voice, started whooping when every version of the prince stallion burst out of the cake that should be all logic not have been able to hold one of him.
Shining Armor old and young gave no regards to the laws of physics, and they danced on to a crowd that just kept growing.
“Ah’ was plannin’ to eat that.”
The mare still had a smile on her face as she licked off the frosting on her cheek and chin, even when she stepped away to give room to the ever growing mass of mares.
“What in the name of our darkest moon!? Why!?”
“Thou shalt understand later!”
"Hush and enjoy it, Lulu!"
If nothing else, the gathering left plenty of room elsewhere.

Over a hundred, and it still boggled her mind that so many were present, different bodies gyrated, moved, danced, and in some cases flopped around badly.
“I’m used to two limbs!”
No matter how good, or how terrible they did so, it still warmed her heart to see them dance. Everyone trying, in their own way, meant more than anything else.
“LOOK OUT!”
Even when things got out of control, she still smiled.
“Now ya’ll go on yer’ way, ain’t nothing to-DANG IT!”
Even when confetti come to life proved too much for her, she smiled.
“So sorry, dearest Applejack!”
With a SNAP! It all went away.
“That one was a little too tangled, best to be rid of it and start over. Oh! I have just the idea!”
With another snap, it returned, exploded, and then promptly went away.
“…well, I enjoyed it.”
With a huff, the chaotic creature, all four of them, joined in the madness all around.
He was welcomed.
“Heh… Ah’ thought it was pretty cool too.”
The voice must have reached the ears of at least one of them, though not a one looked back. Instead came an unseen but perfectly heard snap, and a tiny cup placed into her hoof.
“Hey…”
The fruit punch he’d given her hadn’t been the Apple Juice she’d been hoping for.
“…Meh. Ain’t too bad.”
She welcomed the change all the same.

It could not stop the party.
For as much as the battles would rage, as often as the fights would come, as many relationships would connect and fall apart, as many adventures grand and small that had been seen to their end or had barely begun, one thing would not change.
The apple tree would continue to grow, bear fruit, and give back to those who gave to it.
Until the last leaf fell, Princess Applejack would grow.

One had been struck away, and still laid in the massive crater she had created on landing.

When she finally came up, she could see the barest edges of the mass of bodies, hear the faintest hints of a grand song, and cared nothing for any of it.

Those shapes, so familiar, became so very hard to see.
The sudden blurriness made it so very hard.
“Chitania…”
As the world around her began to break down, time, this world, had almost ended.
Just enough time for one last thing to be said.
“It’ll be okay.”
Just enough time, to know she spoke the truth.
