You wriggle out from under Soft's arm and follow Ant Silver outside. There's a bunch of rocks out there now. You look at them, then at Ant Silver.
"In order to become stronger, you need the proper training equipment." she says. "I don't know exactly how strong you are, so I've assembled a few possible benchmarks based on what I've seen you do so far. Pick up the heaviest one you can; once you've chosen one you're comfortable with, then we may begin."

You test out the small rock. It's easy to pick up. You try the next one, and it's still not too much of a problem. But the rock after that is even bigger than you are! You grunt and your legs shake when you lift it up, but finally you get it on your back.

Ant Silver nods. "Very well. Now hold still."
Then, she ties a vine around you and the rock, so it's stuck on your back! You chirp unhappily and try to shake the rock off.
"Leave it!" Ant Silver says loudly. She puts her hoof over her mouth, then shuts the door to the pony cave before she goes on: "That is your training weight. It'll force your muscles to work harder than usual, which will make them stronger. You'll be wearing that stone for the duration of today's workout."
You don't know what any of that means.
Ant Silver trots over to a line somepony made on the ground. "Stand over here." she says.
You grunt and strain, but you manage to do what she says. In front of the line is a bunch of stuff that wasn't there yesterday.
"This obstacle course is your first test." Ant Silver says. "Usually, the object of an obstacle course is to finish it as fast as possible, but for today's session, I'd rather you just try and make it to the end. Do you think you can handle that?"

You look at the big metal rings on the ground, swallowing hard.

You squeak and run at the rings fast as your stubby little bughorse legs will carry you. You'll do the course! Anything to make the scary loud noises stop!
The first ring is coming towards you... you can do this!

"FWEEET-TWEET!!! No crying! If you fall off the horse, you get right back on it!" Ant Silver yells at you. "Now get up and try again!"
You sniffle. Your eyes are wet, but you try getting back up anyway. If you don't, Ant Silver might keep making the scary noises!
Slowly, you get back on your hooves. Your legs are already tired from carrying the big rock... you're not sure you can do this course anymore.
Unless...
You flap your wings. They can't go up as high as usual, but they're buzzing enough to pick you up juuust a bit. That gives you the boost you need to get over the rings!
"FWEEEEEEEEE!!!!! No flying!" Ant Silver yells, spiciness firing up around her. "This part of the course is to test your hoof-eye coordination! You either trot it or you fail!"

On the third try, you finally make it across. You trudge down the steps and creep across the finish line.

Break? You don't want to break anything, especially now that the rock is finally off.
"Silfah say dis FIRST test. Dat mean... uh... more teststses?"
"There will be." Ant Silver nods. "Now that I know how much stamina you have and how capable you are, I'll refine the obstacle course for future use. But don't worry: you won't have to do this one again, least of all today."
You breathe a sigh of relief.
"Truth be told, I have many ideas for ways you can improve your physical prowess. Everything from hoof races to sparring sessions to simple aerobics. It depends on what you want to improve upon, really."

Soft Serve makes a face, and you taste a mix of wet salt and dry spice.
"However," Ant Silver goes on, looking down at you when she sees Soft's face, "I also don't believe he has any desire to go out on his own for no reason. Do you?"
She gives you a hard look.

Ant Silver follows her brother inside, and you follow Ant Silver. As you trot, she turns around and does something weird: she blinks at you, but with just one of her eyes instead of both.

In the food room, things are like they usually are in the morning, but it tastes a lot less salty than it did the last few days. That's nice.

As you trot, you see Ant Silver come out of one of the rooms. When she sees you, she comes over to you. "Hey." she says. "Good work outside earlier. I was concerned you might screw us both over, but I suppose I gave you too little credit. You can think quite quick on your hooves."
You tilt your head.

She nods. "You did. Thank you for not throwing me under the bus."
You chirp and bounce on your hooves.

Ant Silver smiles... has she ever done that before? "Do you still wish to try that sparring lesson?" she asks.
You nod excitedly, wings buzzing.
Ant Silver leads you outside, a bit away from the obstacle course. It looks like she made another line in the ground, but this one's a lot rounder.
"Alright." she says. "Show me what you're capable of. Can you even knock me down?"

I hate only updating once, but I don't want to miss three days in a row. You guys don't deserve that. I'll try and get more done tomorrow.
