They renewed it a few days after it first went on the air because they put too much faith into nostalgia marketing and it did well for the first 2 weeks on the air but then the appeal faded. The toys sell like dirt, I've seen my local Walmart have an aisle filled with the toys but as time went on, the aisle was gone and was replaced with DC Superhero Girls and even more MLP even though it already had it's own aisle (it's a small Walmart) so even on that front it failed.
