I've been thinking that 26 22-minute episodes in one year are a pretty harsh schedule for a while and if I'm not mistaken the staff often say similarly. It'd be nice if Hasbro gave them more time, even if it means we have to wait longer. They'd have more time to refine the writing.

No, they switched animation studios partway through season 1 and the animation got noticeably worse (not BAD, but definitely worse). But since then it's gotten a lot better again.

But yeah, season 1 has a lot of filler but season 2 is great. (DON'T skip season 1 tho, anyone who is considering, because it's necessary for plot details (and come on even the very worst episodes are no worse than an average-to-above-average episode of MLP)
