Twilight colors are a bit more...dark blue, right? Why is purple considered "twilight"? Who designed this?

It's most likely a reference to the "Twilight's Hammer' cult in Warcraft lore, Blizzard loves tying their games together with Easter eggs. Though I suppose a pony reference is not out of the question.

People in this thread don't seem to realize that there are a number of pony references tucked away in Blizzard games.
There's no reason that the "Twilight" skin on the only four-legged Overwatch character can't be a reference to both WoW and to MLP.

As an example, the Starcraft character who is also in HotS, Alarak is voiced by John de Lancie, and one of his primary abilities is called "Discord Strike". It is both aptly named for the character, but also a reference. Not every reference has to be gaudy and stand out.

And that's to say nothing of all the references in Diablo 3, which ARE perhaps more gaudy.

Why is HotS2 (HotS1 was Heart of the Swarm, funny how blizzard wants everyone to forget the stillborn that was Starcrap 2, making another game with the same initials for HotS and releasing LotV the same day Fallout 4 was out) marketing team getting such a budget boost? It's shilled 24/7 everywhere.
Smart people would cut the losses. I guess even Blizzard isn't beyond the sunk cost fallacy.

There's also a white and purple Zenyatta skin. It isn't an overt reference, but I feel like a brony got away with choosing those colors. The colors are almost exactly the same as Rarity's.

I don't know why people deny that Orisa's Twilight skin is a pony reference. It's really obvious. Bronies are scattered throughout the world, placing pony Easter eggs in their work. Just look at Borderlands 2 and Watch Dogs.
