I know I probably bitched way too much about Glim Glam yesterday. So in her defense (sort of), The association between Pinkie and the Yaks also felt a tad misplaced to me because while I'm okay with Pinkie solving everything during the previous Yak episode, I still feel like Twilight should have some sort of presence into this relationship.

With that said, the synopsis makes it look like the visit is something Pinkie is doing on her own will rather than an official pony visit, so I'll keep an eye on this episode and see how things turn out.

The lesson will probably be, it's alright to accept help on something you've done a ton of times before because you won't always get it right, or something like that

She hasn't been. The only time she screamed in S1 was during Party of One, when she was losing it. Otherwise, the only thing annoying about her was her motor-mouth tendencies and being overly persistent. She got a little flanderized during S2, but the screaming and meme dogshit was still kept to a minimum.

Compare any of these earlier episodes to, say, Wonderbolt Academy, and you'll see a huge difference.

While there is something to her getting louder, I think it's more her style of humor changed. In season 4 it got particularly bad but they've toned it down somewhat since then.
In any case, with each season she's gotten more fleshed out and in her featured episodes, she's always top tier. I actually think The One Pinkie Pie Knows is a great Ponka episodes because she exhibits almost a complete range of emotions and attitudes.
Compare that to S1 Ponk who was usually just that silly scatterbrained mare you barely knew about and did things by the beat of her own unusual drum.

8/10 cute episode
Not a lot happened and the stakes were rather low, but the pacing was good, the story moved nicely and the characters were decently written. The idea of a Friendship ambassador is fun, the main story of Pinkie trying to figure out how to help the Yaks was nice too and I liked all of the mane 6 working together even if it was only a short part. I enjoyed the humor.
I can't really think of anything really wrong with the episode except the "Suddenly a lot of snow falls on the village and the Yaks don't have proper tools to remove it although they deal with snow regularly" plot device feeling a bit forced. Pinkie was not too annoying to me but still talked a little much. As someone else wrote, Yakyakistan only being a small, not very advanced village is a bit disappointing (and they kinda lack the numbers to do much in a war like threatened last time), but it's hard to fault the episode for that.

Personally, I like both. I enjoy a good mix of action, adventure and relaxing slice of life comedy. For me this weekend has been really good with these two episodes.

I do wish there was a little more action/adventure oriented episodes and I could go into a tangent about how I feel that adding more lore, action and adventure to the show could help keep it fresh as I think the fans have been feeling bored with the slice of life stuff simply due to how long the show's been running now but that's neither here nor there.

Point is, some people like the action/adventure part of the show with epic magic battles and cool lore and evil villains and threats and such. Others like yourself prefer the relaxing slice of life and comedic aspects of the show.

I believe it's the show's broad range of appeal that helped it become so popular in the first place.

I think it was really the cave scene, and the cowbell that was really what got under people's skin, I know that that's where I thought Pinkie was being obnoxious. These episodes played off of each other very well. We get one episode full of Glim, Princesses, dream sequences, and laser battles. Next episode is just Pinkie being adorable and hanging out with yaks for half an hour.
