Why do you want Lyra? We already have one of her in the EG world and there is nothing she could contribute to the plot either. Much less than Glim could. If they are fucking with magic, having her knowledge of magic will help greatly. It would be stupid to have it be one of the main 6 since we already have all of their counter parts, Sunset would have no chemistry with them, and they don't want to give special attention to only one member of the mane 5. We don't have Glim's counterpart yet and they have natural chemistry due to their similarities pasts and mutual friend of Twilight.
Starlight is the best character they could do and much of the fanbase want it.
