Cohesiveness. Equestria Girls has screwed the pooch on continuity and internal consistency considerably less than FiM.

As much as I like both Shimmer and Twilight, I'm quite happy that they gave the focus to another Mane 7 member other than them. I love Rarity and seeing her get focus and development is quite refreshing.

Next weeks episode focuses on Dash. Hype for that too. I'm glad these exist and I think this is the better option for the Equestria Girls franchise than movies every year.

My autistic head canon is that magic is somewhat sentient. When it was brought over, it got confused and then attached itself to and created what was familiar to compensate.
