I find her to be a breath of fresh air. She clearly has a lot of anxiety. A lot of shows have this kind of character, but they're frustrating to watch because the characters don't improve and ceaseless anxiety is painful to watch. Starlight, however, is slowly becoming more comfortable with herself and the world around her.

She's smart and talented - and because of this, her mistakes can be massive. I don't think her episodes are too over the top. They're just right for someone like her. Besides, it's a cartoon, so of course conflict and problems will be exaggerated.

Her friends are pumping optimism and rationality into her, and she's actually taking up on it. I hope she is an inspiration to those who struggle with anxiety.

Not even trolling, just stating my opinion. She is easily the worst character in the main cast of the show.

Her visual design is horrible. The light cyan streak in her hair completely clashes with the larger purple color. Also, her mane style looks like an old man's comb over. All of the other characters have hairlines that either form a widow's peak in the center of their forehead or have bangs that obscure the whole thing. Glimmer just looks bald.

She never underwent actual character development. She started out as an evil, manipulative person who only cared about herself, then was replaced with someone completely different in an instant. That's not realistic or even interesting. The writers got bored with using her as a story arc villain and went "Yeahhhhhhhhh she's good now, enjoy your character."

Lastly, her voice acting is mediocre compared to the rest of the main cast. Not terrible, but just gets the job done and that's about it. The problem is that the voice acting in MLP is one of its best qualities, and she doesn't come close to meeting the established standard.
