DELTA P - a CYOA
It is recommended to read the story from the ground up as some previous elements will be necessary for the rest of the quest.
It can be found here: https://www.anonpone.com/deltap

-Brief summary-
>Your name is Coral Currents, you're a specialist diver sent on a mission to investigate on a submarine your employers lost contact of.
>Shortly before arriving to the last point of contact of said submarine, your own submarine was assaulted by an unknown entity and broke in half, stranding you at the bottom of the ocean.
>It seems you'll have difficulties completing that mission now, a new one dawns to you, survive.

"...My... My head..."
>Agathe:"Coral!? Are you alright?"
The alarm keeps blaring into your ears, your head feels heavy and you seemingly can't tell which way is up, left, right or up... But at least you're conscious.
From the few seconds you could look around you could notice the room was pretty shaken with broken furnitures all over the place. Yup, the sub definitely crashed.
Those few seconds are followed by your roomate, Agathe, hugging you quite a fair bit.
>Agathe:"I thought you wouldn't make it! I'm so glad you're alright!"

"Agathe, get off of me."
She does so, although quite reluctantly.
"What happened? How long was I out?"
>Agathe:"The sub crashed a few hours ago... We're lucky we didn't get crushed, the flood barriers also kept us from drowning."
"Mmm... Got anything to take care of this wound?"
>Agathe:"I think I saw a first aid kit earlier down this way while we fled."
You take a deep breath and get up.
>Agathe:"Coral, be careful! You took a nasty blow to the head!"
You're on the bridge, it's a complete mess full of debris and broken electronics, the giant glass is pressing against a rock outside and looks like it could be broken by a simple touch.
>>
>>30028677
The /cyoag/ shit died down to a manageable level after the last few people finally realized nobody wanted to hear about it anymore. There's a few people that keep bringing it up to defend him and a few people that engage to attack them for doing so, but it's mostly gone now.
>>
>>30028707
We should probably put a bulkhead between us and that window then. then we find a first aid kit and see what condition the sub is in.

>a few people that keep bringing it up to defend him and a few people that engage to attack them for doing so
Not entirely true. There are the defenders but the people bringing him up are usually either making an iFag was right joke or are talking about past events he was related to.
The real cancer is people that insist anybody who states an opinion that iFag has is iFag though. We have people pretending the Custos timeskip was find just because iFag criticized it.

Although I would gladdy go back to when the arguments were at there worst if It meant getting rid of that one autist who keeps bitching about question marks
>>
>>30028756
*timeskip was fine
>>
>>30028756
The real problem is anyone that brings him up for any reason when we're all already tired of it.

Shitposters making an iFag was right joke, idiots bringing up past events he was related to, people accusing others of being iFag, people trying to prove other people are not iFag, shitposters who pretend the timeskip was okay to get a rise out of people, all of them.

The whole lot of them need to let the topic go.

"Are we the only on who made it out?"
>Agathe:"No no, the rest are just outside... I didn't want to move you because of your wound."
>Agathe:"There's the captain... The mechanic... Well, you'll see when we get there."
Her magic fetches the first aid kit and gives it to you, you quickly tend to the wound.
"We should leave, I have a feeling that glass isn't going to hold for long."
You leave alongside her to the other room and they're all here.

In the room are Willy the captain, alongside Sonar, that annoying stallion you saw back at the lunch, Rusty Screw the mechanic and that messenger lady you saw earlier... And Agathe of course. Seems like that's all that's left of the crew.
You close the bulkhead and watch the bridge from the window... Nothing happens... yet? Are you overthinking the damage?

>>
>>30029133
Go get our gear on.
This is the time to prove why earth ponies shit all over dumb unicorns by besting the creature in single combat (with some backup support) they will not be able to steal our accomplishment from us this time.
>>
>>30029133
Are there any escape ships left?
>>
>>30029143
If we beat it we could develop a bloodlust and just fucking murder the unicorn who stole our discovery
>>
>>30029214

>>
>>30029233
Not develop a bloodlust or not go into combat against it?
>>
>>30029239

Right now? Both.
We're in a dying submarine and quickly losing power. Do you really think we have the time to get on a diving suit and attempt to go fight a giant thing that singlehandedly destroyed our sub? If it's not attacking us right now, let's not provoke it any further. Our priority should be survival and repairs, not revenge.
>>
>>30029143
>>30029214
>>30029233
>>30029251
You ponder the thought of trying to find the creature that attacked the sub to figh... I mean, figure out where it's coming from, but it comes off as too risky considering the current situation. Survival of the crew is the priority.

>>30029168
"Are there any escape ships left?"
>Willy:"It's one of the sections that was cut off... So no idea."
Suddendly, Rusty Screw gets up.
>Rusty:"Oh! A source o' power... I recon there was a box in the ol' engine room that could help."
>Willy:"But that's on the half that got cut off..."
>>
>>30029289

Do we still have sonar or radar or anything that can tell us where the other half is? Are we going to have to put on a diving suit and head on over?
It's likely going to be nearly suicidal with that thing outside, but the other option is slowly dying alone in the dark, oxygen deprived. It has to be done.
>>
>>30029289
Do we have scuba gear we can use to travel to the other half?
>>
>>30029300
>>30029381

"Are there any diving suits left?"
>Willy:"The room is intact, I checked it earlier, there are several of them but I do believe you're the only one with any diving experience, Coral."
"What about harpoon guns?"
>Willy:"No, there's none of that on the sub."
Agathe cocks an eyebrow.
>Agathe:"What are you thinking about, Coral?"
>>
>>30029491

Well, someones gotta go get the spare power source. Of course it'd end up being us.

Get suited up and tell the to stay on the comms incase anything happens. We're headed out.
>>
>>30029491
We need to get to the other part of the sub to scavenge for supplies and equipment. Wonder if we can quickly train somebody in diving so we can get more done.
>>
>>30029508
This. I'd like to take someone along, but if we're the only one with experience guess we're going it alone, and unarmed. Not the greatest situation, but I guess we'll have to deal with it.

You talk to everypony about your plan and leave shortly after for the room with the diving suits, after putting one on you check out how well it fits you... It's been so long since you've been in a diving suit it makes you smile.
It is interrupted by the thought that one of them could accompany you, there are diving suits for earth ponies and unicorns alike after all.
You're ready to go... But are you taking somepony with you? And if so... Who?

Going to eat, be back in a bit!
>>
>>30029761
Could we get an image or description of all the crew members? I want to see how they're faring because of the crash, how stressed they are and whatnot. Taking someone who's getting panicky would be a bad idea. Additionally, we'd get an idea of how fit they are too.
>>
>>30029761

Last we saw the thing, it was an enormous mechanical magical creature that took up 1/3rd of our radar display, has a giant glowing blue eye four times our size, and vaporized an escape pod in seconds. It also split our entire submarine in half.

AND YOU WANT TO FIGHT IT HOOF TO HOOF, IS THAT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING?

>>30030292
>>30030351

Although I suppose my deleted reply still had use even if it was 2 prompts to late.
>>30030351
I would be lying if I said I did not want to try beat it up right now, either become a hero or go out in a blaze of glory but there I was talking about if we were forced to fight. Although admittedly it would still hamper us in combat to make the others stand back.
>>
>>30030515
Unless we became a super saiyan while I wasn't looking I don't think we'll do much to a creature bigger than our sub.
>>
>>30030351
The creature that is many times larger than our sub and torn a massive machine of metal to shreds has a very obvious weakness to fisticuffs. I'm sure one or two bops and it'd be out cold.
>>
>>30030538
Oh yeah I would not expect to survive I suggested it for roleplaying purposes, a mare looking for an accomplishment that cannot be stolen from her.

Thinking on it getting ourselves killed right now in the name of roleplay would be silly but I do like the idea that if we were forced to fight we would make everybody else stand back so we could say we killed it (even if doing so signs our death warrant)
>>
>>30030515
>Although admittedly it would still hamper us in combat to make the others stand back.
Yes it's merely a numbers game. Surely the only thing preventing us from killing a fucking undersea Leviathan is our numbers and not, say our weakness in the unfathomable depths of the sea

You're extremely retarded, Anon.

Do not fight it.

Best case scenario? We run it off or kill it and attract scavengers/lesser predators to ourselves and die then

Worst case? Die a horrible crushing, choking death in the void of the deep sea.

The correct choice here is most certainly not to fight it.
>>
>>30030577
That sounds terribly stupid. If that thing comes anywhere near us I believe we will do the sensible thing and run and hide. We'll demonstrate our courage by not peeing in our watertight suit while doing so.
>>
>>30030538
Well it is not like fiction is not full of people killing things many times larger then them. Although rarely metal things. Maybe we will be able to find a weapon.
>>
>>30030577
That sounds retarded. If she's looking for accomplishment why would she commit certain suicide for a group that's about to die and ensure no one would remember her. It's also not an accomplishment to go out and die like a bitch. There's no reason she would ever do this.
>>
>>30030606
Desperation can make you overconfident, if you want something badly enough you can pretend the risks do not exist.
>>
>>30030577

You keep bringing up the idea of standing back.
Our crew (and us) are trapped aboard a wrecked submarine. They can't go anywhere, let alone stand back. Unless you suggest they all equip diving suits and stand in the 10000 something pounds of pressure of the ocean watching us fight for literally no reason. They can't provide back up considering nobody has any weapons. Following up on that, we can't provide a fight either. There is nothing we can do to the monster.

Further more, suggesting that the up til this point scared MC Coral suddenly gains the confidence in herself that she can go out there and wrassle with a mountain sized monster is just plain stupid, not roleplaying.
Also, why are you suggesting things that will kill us anyway? The goal of the CYOA is to survive.

Also, even if we do go out and die to it and go down in a "blaze of glory" as you suggested, that's not an accomplishment. The only people who know we are down here are the crew, who are once again trapped in the submarine. They can't tell the outside world or anything. We don't become heroes, we just die. The end.
>>
>>30030617
So you explicitly want the MC to be retarded. As long as you're admitting that position, it's a firm "fuck you".
>>
>>30030617
The mc hasn't exhibited a monster hunter personalitity yet, so why the fuck do you think that in the heat of the moment they would suddenly gain it? They're a scientist. They would be curious at worst, and cautious at best.

In the heat of a robbery, do you suddenly decide that now is the time to be an accountant?
>>
>>30030622
The blaze of glory was not intended as something she would view as an accomplishment.
>>
>>30030658
The blaze of glory wouldn't exist. If I walk out into the middle of the street it's not a blaze of glory when I get creamed by a semi.

After telling the crew of your post-death wishes, you set on departing. You explain the basics of diving to Rusty in a short amount of time and you find he follows the instructions perfectly, you both step outside the sub after a short bit. Looking around is as empty as you'd except the ocean to be... But there's one big half of crashed submarine in the horizon, seems like that's the direction to take.

"Do you know anything about that other submarine we were sent to search?"
>Rusty:"M'fraid not, I'm only a mechanic y'know."
Dammit... You approach the massive hunk of metal and start searching for any entrance, to which you find none. You resort to taking the emergency hatch Rusty mentionned earlier and successfully get inside the ship.

You're standing in a corridor, it's pretty lit compared to the other half, probably because the main power generator is still here... But of course there's still that blaring sound of siren blasting through the rooms.

What do you do?

Search around, I suppose. Double check for survivors, if this half isn't flooded then there is a good chance someone might be alive like in the other half of the ship.
>>
>>30031462
are there any weapons on this half of the ship?
>>
>>30031462
Close the hatch. No need to flood the ship if there are still survivors. Since he's the mechanic he should know where this battery is, have him lead us. Glance into rooms and call out for survivors along the way.
>>
>>30031462
Find a way to turn off the sirens. it might attract creatures.
>>
Here's the map as a reminder.
>>
>>30031489
"Any weapons on the ship?"
>Rusty:" 'Tis not suited for combat no."
>>30031574
"Well, any way to turn off the sirens?"
>Rusty:"It's automatic, because the ship is missin' one half. Don't think ya can deactivate that."

>>30031474
>>30031510
You close the hatch.
"We should keep the suits on, other areas of the ship are probably flooded."
You start moving through the different sections of the ship, Rusty Screw guiding you toward the engine room. It seems to lack survivors until you reach a room completely flooded. There lie the floating corpses of several crew members, lifeless... Guess you figured out where the rest of the crew went... Well, at least those that weren't vaporized inside the first escape ship.
The sight makes you sick, less so Rusty but still, you move quite fast past it as a result.
You finally reach the engine room, it's seem unscathed and you don't notice any sign of flood... Seems like you'll be able to work peacef-

BBBRRRRTTT!

... You feel the entire sub creaking and it shakes a bit... Maybe you shouldn't get too comfortable here.
>>
>>30031661
We an earth pony right? How much weight can we lift.
>>
>>30031678
Why do you ask?
>>
>>30031709
Well maybe we could hold back the falling of the ship for a few minutes if we got outside. We cannot possibly lift it but we may be able to delay the tipping depending on how strong we are.
>>
>>30031740
>Maybe we can hold a giant metal ship in one place by ourselves, underwater.

How strong do you think earth ponies are?
>>
>>30031753
I dunno. That is why I am asking the qm.

If we are not strong enough just grab it and get the fuck out of here.
>>
>>30031658
Grab as much as we can safely carry. Lets plan for not being able to come back here. I wonder if there's anything interesting in the living quarters.
>>
>>30031661
Is the box the thing we need? If Rusty doesn't have the key we need to find a pipe or something to bash the lock off.

>>30031740
Once again, you're retarded.
>>
>>30031780
If the food storage is on this side then we should grab some sealed food crates on the way out. There's no telling how long we'll be stuck underwater and we'll eventually need food.
>>
>>30031789
>Once again, you're retarded.
I dunno. I doubt we would be strong enough but the idea is sound. Now if he had just said hold up the ship expecting to be able to then he would be retarded.
>>
>>30031817
The idea isn't sound. One pony will not in any way affect a multi-dozen ton structure. He is retarded as are you for defending his retarded idea.
>>
>>30031789
Why not punch the lock off?
>>
>>30031827
He fucking asked, it never hurts to ask. This is like the /cyoa/ tendency to say don't ask that question you will likely get a negative answer but even worse because it is happening a step earlier.
In fact just to spite you
>>30031740
On the admittedly unlikely chance we are strong enough do this.
>>
>>30031817
>>30031740
So you two are brazenly stupid, but if the entire thing is at risk of slipping out into an abyss, which we don't know this could be the monster fucking with the sub or the subs supports creaking now that they're broken and under unusual pressure, then we could flood the part of the sub that is away from the edge to balance it. Even presuming the assumptions inherent in the command are right, it's a stupid way of solving the issue.

But we don't know what's causing it and so the best option is to get our shit and get out, if the sub is still up it can be explored again later.

>>30031862
This is the 4chan tendency to call retards retarded.
>>
>>30031865
Thats not a bad idea.
get out for now but if we find it is at risk of slipping over an edge we should do that if it has not yet fallen over later I have never been called brazenly stupid before, that's a new one.
>>
>>30031789
>>30031861
"That's the box? ...Says it contains fuel cells.."
>Rusty:"Yes, that's the box a-"
"We need something to break that lock... Any loose pipe around?"
>Rusty:"Or we can just use the key. I have it here."
Rusty walks over to the box and unlocks it, inside are several fuel cells ready for use.
"Great, let's take as much as we can an-"
The sub creaks and rocks again, harder this time... And still rocks... And... Oh god, it's going to sink over the edge!

Ending for now! Check back tomorrow, I'm a very sleepy poner, sorry. Thank you all for participating today!
>>
>>30031959
Get the fuel cells and get out. When we open the emergency hatch leave it open, it might steady the sub and keep it from going over the edge. But we don't have time to waste doing anything else inside of it.

Rusty grabs a hold of as much fuel cells as he can hold and books it, you both swiftly move through the previous corridors until you reach the bulkhead leading to the room with the exit hatch.
You try to open the bulkhead but it seems much harder than before...

Crap! You realize can't open it on your own!

Yet the clock is still ticking, you can hear the sub all around you creaking some more, leaning further toward the bottomless void of the ocean.
>>
>>30039614
Missing dialogue piece: (right after the >>)
"Quickly! We need to take the whole box and leave!"
>Rusty "I can't, 'tis too heavy!"
"Then... Then... As many as we'd need to get the power back on, quick!"

Blame 4chan giving me a connection error when I included the dialogue in the post
>>
>>30039614
Put down the fuel cells and open the bulkhead. Than hold it open while the fuel cells are transferred through and go once we've got everything on the other side. Switch who's holding it open if one of us starts to get to tired so we don't accidentally let it close on one of us.
>>
>>30039647
You try to force the bulkhead open.
"Hnnng... R-Rusty! Some help please."
The old stallion moves over to help you into opening the bulkhead and you finally manage to open it... Only to understand why you had such trouble in the first place. A torrent of water comes rushing in and pours into the room, the sudden flow shaking Rusty and making him lose hold of one of the fuel cell, it gets caught by the water and gets carried away.
You can see the level of the water is going to rise quickly. Time to go diving again!

Is there anything else you want to do on the sub before leaving?
>>
>>30039630
>>30039647
put the fuel cells down where they're not going to get washed away by the incoming flood.
>>
>>30039809
How much oxygen do we have left? Yell encouraging word to Dusty to brace himself and hold on to something. We can swim out until the room is filled because we'd be fighting against the current. Then carry as many fuel rods we can manage between the two back.
>>
>>30039809
With the ship going down there's absolutely nothing we should be doing than trying to get out.
>>
>>30039809
>Put down the fuel cells and open the bulkhead.
>>
>>30039816
>>30039850
>>30039869
"Hang on Rusty! Let's wait for the room to flood and run for it!"
Rusty nods and grips the few fuel cells he has in his hooves as tight as he can.
The room quickly fills up with water and you're both soon submerged, you set out to enter the room and discover the wall has fallen apart and provided the big hole the water needed to get in.
You step through the hole and leave the sub, giving yourself plenty of distance with the sub before looking back. It slowly leans over the edge before falling into the abyss...

>Rusty "Well, at least we got what we came for..."
He holds up a few fuel cells he managed to take from the sub.
>Rusty "Should last a couple 'o weeks at least!"
You look at the other half of the sub you're heading toward, at least this one is laying on a flat floor.
>>
>>30040039
Take an opportunity to look around. Are there any other wrecks nearby? Is the monster staying away?
>>
>>30040039
>>30040050
No? There shouldn't be any other wrecks. Just our half of the sub that's still flat. Unless you're referring to the to the missing sub or escape pods.
>>
>>30040214
We went down here to find a missing sub or some such and got attacked by a monster. It stands to reason that there could be other wrecks in the area from subs or ships that have gone by. Beyond that getting a general idea of what the surrounding layout is is very beneficial towards figuring out our next step.

Looking around the landscape, it's as barren as it gets, the only wreck you can see is your half of the sub. It makes you wonder where the other sub you were sent to search for is and if you'll even be able to reach it.
Wait no, there's something, you're pretty sure that's an... intact escape pod!? It must've drifted off after the ship got split in half!

The entire surrounding area swiftly gets engulfed in a shadow, you look up to try and figure out where it's coming from. It's the beast that took out the sub earlier, swimming just a few dozen meters above your head. Your body freezes at how massive the creature just is, it fills you with awe for a second before you come back to your senses and shake your head, running away from the sub as to not lead it that way, telling Rusty to do the same. But you're quick to realize the beast isn't interested by the two of you or by the half of the sub for that matter. as quickly as it came, it goes away, disappearing into the dephts.
You find yourself alone with Rusty again, he seems voiceless and so are you, your heart is racing. From what you could see that beast was definitely organic... But then what were those mechanical parts you saw earlier? Is it a cyborg?

You are at equal distance from the escape pod and the sub, what do you do?
>>
>>30040740
Rusty can take the batteries back to the sub and tell them that the monster is ignoring us while we check out the pod.

"Alright, Rusty, get back to the sub and start installing the fuel cells, I'm going to check the escape pod quickly."
>Rusty "Sure, take care out there Coral."
You nod and he quickly gets to the sub, you however approach the intact escape pod and find that even the door mechanism is intact! You slip inside the escape pod and it's in the exact same condition you found it outside, as in it's seemingly undamaged and inhabited, seems like no pony made it in time in that one, either that or they got discouraged when they saw the other pod being vaporized in front of their eyes.

You stand in front of the escape pod console and controls, what do you want to find out about it before heading to the sub?
>>
>>30041027
Turn off anything consuming power, look around for any damage, and then head back to the sub. With how the monster seems to go after vehicles we don't want to do anything with it before we know exactly what we're doing.
>>
>>30041047
>>30041027

Males sense. Also, we should probably check and see how much power it has, how far it can get us and if we know how to pilot it. Stuff like that.
>>
>>30041047
>>30041094
Really? I hadn't considered thst.
>>
>>30041202
What hadn't you considered?
>>
>>30041047
>>30041094
You turn off the pod lighting and look down at the computer screen, seems it did sustain some damage to a few critical components, you don't think it could handle going all the way up to the surface without repair... And that would probably get the creature's attention if you did anyway. But it should be safe if you stay close to the seabed. The battery is still at half capacity and it uses fuel cells like the auxiliary power source of the sub, so you've got that covered.
You never piloted one of these, but it shouldn't be that hard, you have some experience driving a personal submarine after all.

After looking for any other modules you could disconnect to save power you leave for the sub and reach it without any monster looming over you this time. Back in the sub you meet back with everyone, lights are back on and that damn siren has finally stopped.
>Agathe:"I'm so glad you're alright! Rusty told us about the monster... You're so lucky he didn't see you two!"
>Sonar:"Hey, Coral, we have something that might interest you here."
You dismiss Agathe and move over to the bridge, the glass is still all cracked up but you figure out it spent hours like that without budging so the probability of it failing now is slim.

Sonar is pointing at the radar.
There lies one dot, flashing.
The lost submarine.

Woopty freaking yay. Would you look at that. Its the bloody missing sub! Fantastic! Now we just have to go out there again with the giant monster swimming around.
>>
>>30041491
I guess we take a fuel cell out, take the mini-sub, go and see if the other sub is repairable.
>>
>>30042210
And the monster?
>>
>>30041491
>>30042210
Not yet. The entire crew needs to check the sub and make sure there's no major leaks that aren't plugged. We should also reinforce the window as a safety precaution and check to see how much food made it with us.

Then everyone rests.

Then we get set up to go to the other sub to see if it's repairable. If need be we can hold up in the sub for a while from what Rusty said, but we have to ensure it's a safe place to hold up.
>>
>>30042224
>>30042229
Our data so far: The pod won't make it to the surface. The fuel cells are needed to run the pod. Our sub is broken in half, leaking, and the window will implode in the very near future. Therefore, to maximize survival, we must move the crew to the other sub and commence repairs on it ASAP before the monster returns.

DeltAnon here,

after much consideration I'm ending this thread right now since we reached a good end point. I'll try to do a new thread every week-end.
Thanks everyone who played ! I'm sorry to have put this off for so long, I'm now satisfied with how my art style looks (RIP Nips Jr!) and I think focusing more on text updates than images will work much better, faster, even though my updates are still fairly slow because tiredness/me trying to give enough time for people to suggest what they want.

Here's an exclusive behind the scene of me trying to find an art style for the new Delta P.
