With the right discipline and giving her timeouts in the cuckshed she could grow up into a proper pony wife. Unfortunately it would be a long process since the parents didn't have the good sense to teach her early.

This is actually new to me. All the comic in pokemon actually use a human trainer

They don't need anon, since they can have a regular human oc to self insert because humans are actually canon.

>>30011486

You can't insert as anon either.

They give him a personality now. It's not early insertanon stuff where he was just there. Now he gets written as a character other than a foil.

>>
>>30011574

Dead fandom. Typical anon faggotry. Bigger pool has more fish. Killed funposting. Massive circle jerk threads making any art thread automatically restrictive.

There's a bunch of reasons why artists leave.

Mods end up scaring artists off. Even safe artists like this.

Because ponies.

Better disappear than leave something that would affect your future

No. It's because mlp's 4chandom got ruined by people accepting the no funposting rule. That leads to nothing good.

>>

>what did he mean by this?

The scruffening
>>
>>30011724

Writefags aren't anywhere as valuable as drawfags. Drawing is harder than writing creatively for people.

No offense meant.

>what he mean by this?

Banning funposting means you drive away content viewers. That means people don't think it's worth creating content for people to view. Thus they leave.
>>
>>30009938
of all the things you could complain about, that's the wrong one
>>
>>30010628
You need to continue this
I want to see Cadence putting Flurry shit lined up for good measure
>>
>>30011758
I'd argue that writefags and drawfags are symbiotic, one inspires the other. Visual content tends to grab attention and pull people in in ways that writing never will, it's a major driving factor in any fanbase, but writing can inspire the imagination, provoke the entire spectrum of emotions, and encourage more visual art.
A content creator's value based on their medium is irrelevant. My point is, you should want to create for a community because you care for —if not the community— then the topic it's based around. Not because you want popularity.
>>
>>30009894
>Would you?

Get out the hairbrush and give her ass a roasting? Sure.
>>
>>30011758
Know how I know you've never written fiction more than a few thousand words? That claim. Writing long stories takes real skill and dedication. A book-length green takes a lot longer to make than any drawing. But of course, to make any decent art you need countless hours more of instruction, practice, and refinement. Trust me, writing is no different.
>>
>>30009894
yes, I'd be totally beta for her
>>
>>30011758
This is silly.
I guess you could argue that you need more practice to start 'publishing' your art, but writing is just as hard.
You can't become a 'good writer' without having read shit for hours and hours, and then practiced for that many.
I mean I'm kind of slow, but to get a story I'm okay with posting, I need around 20hours per 10k words. And then imagine those people writing milion words fics.. Yeah.
>>
>>30009924
This makes me uncomfortably aroused.
>>
>>30011574
>>30011591
>>30011623
In my experience as somebody who's done a lot of stuff in the fandom and now work with/party with a lot of other fandom artists, the reason is usually lack of inspiration. Initially, the show does something that captures your imagination. In this case, this guy was grabbed by the idea of Flurry being this dangerous, destructive personality based on the season opener she was introduced in.

But then the show releases a new episode that completely overrides that vision you have. You can carry on with your original premise for a while, but eventually the concept starts to feel alien to you. I remember writing a multi-chapter fanfic with Luna in it back in season 1; the fic was doing well, people were reading and giving positive feedback.

Then they changed Luna. I finished off a couple more chapters, but eventually people started to comment that Luna was super OOC throughout the entire fic, and it was clear that the whole fic was set in some alternate universe or something.

And I dunno, you sometimes just drop your project because of that. For this particular artist, I wouldn't be surprised if episodes revealing Flurry to be unabashedly saccharine put him off a little. The premise is funnier when everyone can accept the character might be exaggerated to have those negative traits, but if the show says, "No, this character is perfect in every way and always will be, to the point where she could accept rational apologies even in infancy," then your work is a mockery in how opposite it is to the source material, rather than exaggerating a flaw that's there. It becomes, "What if Superman said swear words, lol", which is kind of one-note and gets old.

Heart of War thread.
>>
>>30012849
Bust most of those fictions are shit.

Length is NOT an indicator of a good story. It's an indication of a poorly thought-out story with an author who didn't have any direction in mind when they started writing.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4dn7TEjnbPY
While War and Peace is a good book, you could read a dozen good books in the amount of time it'd take you to read one War and Peace.
>>
>>30015703
What?
No, of course length isn't why some fics are good and others aren't.
But a good fic, and /especially/ the longer ones, takes just as much time, effort and skills to make as drawings.
I was just pointing out that fics, or books, or novels, whatever really, becomes harder and harder to pull of the longer it gets.
Drawings don't do that, once you get the skills, the only thing you need is your imagination.
But saying that drawing requires more 'creativity' is really silly.
Like that other Anon pointed out, we can easily guess that you never really tried writing anything. You should try.
>>
>>30009894
I want Nyx to do her and vice versa
>>
>>30012109
A picture is worth a thousand words, good pictures inspire a writer to make many more, unless its a piece of modern art. Them there's only one word, or tr same world several times.
>>
>>30015778
gas all nyxfags
>>
>>30015773
I can't say I've tried writing anything for an extensive period of time, you've got me there.

What I was saying is that it's harder to write a good /concise/ story than it is to just keep throwing words on paper. I was also pointing out that the vast majority of really long fictions are pretty shit, like Project Horizons.
>>
>>30016170

Most of my writing is probably pretty shitty, and not much of it is really very original, but at least some people seem to like it. And I strive for general self-improvement.

No, I don't know what my point is, either.
>>
>>30016170
Well, yeah. Of course it's easier to write a shitty green text about Anon fucking X pone or whatever, than it is to write a.. I don't know, harry potter or lovecraft or GoT, whatever floats your boat.
But those are written by professionals, they studied that shit for years and thought about what they want in their books, what message they want to convey, how do they want their characters to develop etc etc etc.
You can't compare that to this autistic community, even tho there ARE really great writers, big part of it is simply 'for fun'.
And again still, even within the 'professional' realm, there are shit writers and shit stories.

>>30016238
It's okay Anon, it's a noble goal.
If there are other people capable of enjoying whatever you're writing, then it mustn't be /that/ bad.
>>
>>30016261

>>
>>30009924

>>
>>30010750

>>
So anyone have any links to some good flurry green?
>>
>>30016238
"If it sells, you've made a good product."
So if people are taking the time to read it, then you've written something of some quality.

>>30016261
You can't expect an amateur boxer to beat a professional, but that's no reason not to give him some advice.

The point I'd like to make is that I think the quality of writing around here would be better if writers /FINISHED THEIR STORIES/ instead of dragging them out forever through countless chapters and sequels, /and then wrote another story about something else/. We'd have less unfinished fictions, more short ones and writers would increase in quality faster.

Most importantly, we'd have good stories, instead of having good parts in overall mediocre stories. Project Horizons was good up until the end of Volume 2, by amateur standards, and Somber should have finished it there and then written another story about something else, instead of continuing to write five more volumes of progressively degrading quality.

>advices
Oh yeah, I didn't try to imply that at all, I don't even know how we got to that point in this conversation since it started with 'drawing is harder than writing'.

>finish their stories
Ehh... I don't know Anon.
I can't speak for others, of course, and I procrastinate a /lot/, but I also need the right mood to write my shit. If I try to force myself to keep writing something, it just ends up with plot holes and OOC characters, and nobody wants to see that.
Some writers are also much faster than the rest, and/or have more time on their hands, like I said, it takes me a /while/ to write something I'm happy to share.
Of course I hate it when I start reading something enjoyable and it ends up being unfinished. But I'll always prefer that over a forced ending because the writer didn't feel like continuing. Yeah,
I'm talking about you ponebones

TLDR; the way it is now is totally fine.

>Big stories
Well, that's another world entirely.
I'm not going to comment much more on that, because I generally don't read them. They just take too long to read and there's only a handful of them I finished and enjoyed.
But I know that, when you write something, and the public enjoys it, overwhelmingly so, you just feel the 'need' to keep going.
I mean, I'm not going to run in circles here, most of us do it for the (you)s. Because we have fun doing it, of course, but it's mainly to get all those responses, to hear people say they enjoyed what you did, that they enjoyed the 30minutes it took them to read it, while it took you hours and hours to write.
So, yeah, when the public asks for more, it's hard to say /no/, because there's a big chance that you already thought about what would happen next anyway, and you wanna see where you can go with it.
But again, I have no idea about that project horizon, since I didn't read it.
I'm just blogging loudly.

Fair enough. I just wish writers would stop writing on top of a story that's already finished. If you've reached the conclusion and all loose ends are wrapped up, move on to something else, is all I'm saying. Project Horizons was done at the end of Volume 1 and again at 2, but the author just kept going, aNd the shitiness of the later volumes tainted the quality of the first.

Triathlon Anon is another good example of a greentext with too many damn sequels, though the drop in quality isn't as severe. I still like it

An odd sort of trend I've noticed, it seems like all overly-lengthened stories end up turning into bad animes. Kind of weird.

You should read the first volume of PH, and the second if you liked the first. It's a pretty good fiction.
>>
>>30016591

>>30017195
>An odd sort of trend I've noticed, it seems like all overly-lengthened stories end up turning into bad animes. Kind of weird.

Anime style is an affliction of the 'never ending story', every time a plot arc is overcome the writefag has to come up with something more grandiose to top it and stop things from getting stale, and that usually winds up being something 'more powerful' in one way or another.

The alternative is saturday morning cartoon villain.
