People constantly shitting on "generals" as a whole for no particular reason, and then turning around and sucking the nut straight out of any barely literate attentionwhore's unwashed dick who has never watched the show and knows nothing about the characters but got a job on the show because the quality control is entirely inexistent.

If people criticized these shits as much as they do with the things they don't like on the board, maybe we would stop getting mediocre plots and scripts, people would happily want to talk about the show again, and /mlp/ as a board would be much more enjoyable to browse.

The lack of self-awareness and hate circlejerking has really fucking been out of hand, and is making discussing the show a pain in the ass.

I can't stand anons who kill a thread to ask one character or show-specific question. This is why I like generals - if you have a question about a character, ask it in that character general. If you have a question about today's episode, ask it in the sticky. Or for older episodes, we can have a show discussion general to talk about all that.
You're probably rolling your eyes at the sight of the word "general", but let me explain why generalising this board even further is a good idea.
1) Easier to get questions answered - by asking, say, a question about Celestia in /sun/, you'll be more likely to get an answer from someone who actually knows instead of a meme reply.
2) Improves organisation - for anons who don't like specific things (Starlight, EqG), they can more easily filter threads pertaining to them, allowing those who do enjoy such content to go about their business relatively undisturbed by those who get triggered easily.
3) Makes room for more threads - since we will have one Starlight general instead of 17 threads discussing different aspects of her. This allows us to have more threads for different topics at the same time.
4) Decreases complaint of dead threads - anons from all over, regardless of whether or not they participate in a general, complain that they're mostly empty bumps. By consolidating everything into one thread, anons are forced to discuss in that thread, allowing generals to thrive.

In my ideal, /mlp/ would be similar to /vg/ - higher bump/image limits, every thread having its own 2-5 letter name enclosed between slashes, and brief descriptions of each general, allowing easier finding and filtering as I already said.
I apologise for this TL, DR rant/derailment, but since /sbg/ - State of the Board General isn't available right now, this is the next best place.

My ideal /mlp/ is one of solely slider threads, but not slider threads like IWTCIRD shitpost slider threads. More of a (old 2008) /pol/ type scenario, where each quality thread has a decent amount of attention and posts but is usually pushed to irrelevancy by another high quality thread. I think generals lead to stagnation and usually content creators stick to one or two generals, regurgitating the same stuff or just having a lack of variance in content. I can appreciate your point of view, it does make sense, but it would only work in some sense where we are completely a general-only thing.
