The negativity surrounding later seasons doesn't make this board an appealing place to discuss the show. EqD is full of uptight underages who refuse to disagree with anything the show does. There is no middle ground and thus no discussion.

Board changes (Faust, Scruffening, all the newfags that invaded after) and show changes (Wings, EQG, Glimmer, Writers leaving) have caused many divides to be formed. We cant even disagree with each other civilly because people take hard stances both for or against such things.

Generals are popular because anons like what they discuss or create within them. Same with CYOA, which gives the anons involved a feeling of their input actually mattering in a realm they focus on for some level of actual immersion.

Thats why we see so many of such elements here. Show discussion exists, but its full of people either shilling a 10/10 opinion or those going 0/10 its total shit, with everyone else battling in the middleground.

To me, the world just feels less interesting.

There's little to consider about the mythical nature of alicorns when so many exist and one was literally created in front of us.

There's little to wonder about the Everfree or Zecora when such elements are never explored upon further.

There's little to consider about changelings and their relations with ponies when their natural dilemma was solved so easily and arguably, poorly.

We've seen much of pony society, which is more human-like technology-wise than fantastical in many different areas

And most of all, it feels like most of the characters at least those who aren't SoL focused only have achieved what they wanted and have little else to do.

Is it any wonder that people sequester themselves in alternate universes and ideas of the world or their characters of their own making, if they dont drop off the ride entirely?

And as someone who has some strong opinions about the topics discussed in there, the absolutism is the worst of it. MLP isn't a dank meme anymore, so a lot of people have fucked off to greener pastures at this point, but as you point out, the rest of the fandom is still chugging along at a comfortable pace. The old guard of content creators have bailed, but despite what people here would have us believe, others do pop up to replace them.

The reason this board is dead is pretty much what >>29977310 said. It's home to this contingent of people who've really come to hate the show but have nowhere else to go. They resent it so intensely that - while they aren't a majority by any means - they /are/ extremely vocal about it, and it shits up the board. Then you have the autists on the other side who immediately jump in to defend the show in all cases. Basically, it's made discussion impossible, because literally every conversation just devolves into an argument about whether or not the show is good/bad by two sides who have absolutely no interest in each other's viewpoints.

This forces the rest of us to do one of two things - either retreat into a general/circlejerk of some sort where these types of people usually don't tread, or just leave. I used to consider this board my home base in this fandom, and on a Saturday during the season, I'd be posting here all day. Now all I can really take is a cursory check now and then, because unless you're involved in a general, this place is boring now.

That's why this board is dead: it's boring. It's the same people having the same argument all day every day while a few small clusters of writefags and fetishists have never-ending strings of threads about things that barely have to do with the show anymore. If you're actually interested in My Little Pony, there's nothing here for you, and I doubt I'm alone when I say that the only interaction I have with it anymore is sitting at a distance, watching it burn and thinking about the good old days.
