I liked Tirek, but not because of the fight scene. It was everything else before that, he interactions and betrayals, the lore etc...

The thing that makes FiM great is creative, original and interesting personalities/storytelling. There does need to be some action, and its kind of cool if done well, but if they put too much emphasis on it they will miss the mark, because they will be (rightly) held back by their target demographic.

Also I just wanna see cute ponies do cute things in a way that isn't generic and girly as fuck.

S1E1Minute1 was the 2 Princesses Legend. The betrayals & lore you yourself are citing. That entire premiere went on to emphasize "LE EPIC action adventure". Good writing is already implicit in the fact that they tried that at all in some faggy little pony show, let alone executed it so well.
What's funny is I 100% agree with your Tirek point. Had they continued topping themselves every season like that, it would have rang hollow. The show needed another 2+ seasons to mellow out and build up to a crescendo again.
As such, I see no problem here in the slightest. Not only do the concepts I'm seeing here sound highly S1 in tone themselves ("missile" could mean any projectile btw), but it's had SEVEN YEARS to build anticipation. No shit are they going big. The G1 MLP movies were l'epique action adventure, what'd you expect this one to be? Sex in the City?

Also I don't know what the fuck Storm Hawks is but it already sounds boring. Like dudes in planes or something. Diamond Dogs don't really look like furry characters though. Furry stuff tends to be realistically proportioned humans with cartoon animal heads slapped on top. Diamond Dogs on the other hand have these crazy long arms and tiny legs, they also move less like a human would, being animated more like a gorilla. They're barely even bipedal.
