Yes, you are right that people should just ignore them, but since they clearly can't, banning the shitposters would solve the problem with little to no collateral damage. If we're talking about OPs and not simple replies, banning them would mean saving space on the board: one of the most frequent complaints people have against generals is that they take up space and don't allow other threads to last. A plethora of daily shit threads has the same effect, but unlike generals doesn't provide anything else people might enjoy.
About not being a fan of Glimmer, or her being a shitty character, I agree with you, but Glimmerposting has nothing to do with Glimmer as a character, it's just about using said character to trigger people. That's why I said allow one glimmer thread: that's for the Glimmerfans.
