Isn't that the point of a crossover? It's not like the story pretends it's not heavily based on Fallout.
In any case, it's not perfect, but I remember enjoying it quite a lot.

OP you seem to got a pretty developed opinion already without reading it. I'd ask you to read it, but I imagine you might not find it to your tastes. The plot takes from all the Fallouts and making it similar to Fallout is kinda the point of a crossover. Common explanation is Fallout if ponies rather than Fallout with ponies. Also if it just ripped from Fallout 3's story it would be far more terrible because Bethesda Fallouts are sub par in general. Regardless you got your own rationale and your own thoughts about the topic.
