Hey, they rused us pretty well with it.

I enjoyed them. I think I want to enjoy every episode, so once I enter my new episode refractory period I may have different thoughts. Overall I smiled and laughed a lot, and the episodes made me feel happy. To offer some criticisms:

-End of episode one seemed weird. What was learned by Glim and Twi both giving into sentimentalism? That Twi didn't need to force the, "Next stage," of Glim's development?
-The song in ep. 2 seemed out of place. I was expecting Glim and Trixie to sing as well with lyrics echoing the opposite of the Mane 6, that the two of them were not getting along.

But it's not like I didn't enjoy the episodes as a result. I like Glim and Trixie, and it was nice to see more Celestia.

Me too. That was my favourite moment of that episode. We get to know a bit more about what Celestia was thinking/planning for Twilight when she sent her away.

It's a shame that this "lesson" fell short. Twilight was completely anxious about letting her go so the first moment Starlight said she didn't want to go was enough to change Twilight's mind.

Discord shenanigans were fun to watch as well.

We told them to do a slice-of-life season premiere like The Best Night Ever instead of the constant two-parters and they actually did it, the madwomen!

7/10 for both episodes (first a little stronger than the second). It was very nice to start a little slower for once and it allowed them to come up with something else than another catastrophic threat that starts to feel washed out by now. Celestia was pretty good in the first episode and it was nice to finally have her give some advice again (or even play any major role). Discord pushing Twilight was nice too, although it does get a little repetitive by now.

Starlight trying to teach Trixie some magic and explaining a little more how it works was nice too. But while I liked the overall concept of the episode I can't help but agree that Trixie was a bit too oblivious to her behavior compared to other recent episodes and that her magic was a little too powerful than would be believable based on earlier episodes.

Both episodes don't score any higher because while they are nice, the characters tend to feel not quite right, there are little things here and there that seem to just not really fit, it's hard to properly describe. I've had this problem with Lewis and Songco from the beginning. I like their episodes, but the characters seem just a little off. I had hoped they'd get a better grasp over time considering they were just starting, but it seems they haven't really changed since their start. However, since I usually like their episodes, I am somewhat confident they will have done a decent job as head writers. We can only hope they didn't do anything as horrifying as EqG 4.

I'm stupid and forgot to comment on the resolution of the second episode, which was stretching it really far with being on the nose. They should've cut down on all the apologizing a little and could maybe have been a bit more stern.

The song was alright in my opinion, I'd say lampshading it somewhat justifies it.

Taking that into account, it's really more of a 7.5/10 for the first and 6.5/10 for the second episode.

Well, I personally thought it was just how she did it and not that it necessarily applies to all unicorns, also it's really more of a way to help herself channel the magic, not actually how to use it. Maybe I should have written that I liked that she talked about what helps her cast magic. I like the idea of different unicorns having different ways to focus better on magic, it's realistic similar to the learning thing in Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3 (which is one of my favorite episodes).

The S6 premiere already was a little of that and the "great threat" they put in actually made it worse. It was done better this time and I liked it. It did annoy me a little that they had to do it that way and not just have her charge her horn like she's ready to break, which in my opinion would be possible for any unicorn to have happen, and then bottle that because she can't calm down enough to not risk accidentally firing off a blast.
