The 2nd /MLP/ Plays album, that’s what! Following the success of the first one, we decided that the world needs another. Like before, it will be a compilation album from the musicians of /mlp/. There is no specific genre that has to be adhered to, but there will be more guidelines to follow this time.
>What are the guidelines?
This time around, it’s been decided that the music for this album has to be pony related. “But what what does that mean!?” you may be wondering. Well, here is what we mean:
Songs need to be original or redone covers based off of the below conditions. It may be but is not limited to:
•Cover/remix of the music from the show.
•An original that is based off of a riff/motif/recognizable theme from the show
•Original piece that uses samples from the show (probably more than just one gasp at the end. Should really be part of the song)
•Original songs with pony related lyrics, like "Waifu Blues" or "All Ponies Must Be Perfect" from the last album.
•Redoing the music and lyrics to be pony related. Mr. Bones's Wild Ride (Hotel California Parody) from the last album is a good example.
•Includes /mlp/ related maymays/jokes/culture.
•No singing over instrumentals of other artists’ songs. "I Am Awesome" is an example. It would, however, be OK if the instrumental was redone.

Pretty sure someone asked this last thread, but when we complete our songs and stuff for the album, can we release them on our SoundCloud, bandcamp, YouTube after the album drops? Like a single or something? Also, would someone who made a song for this be allowed to show friends after they made it and submitted it to you guys? As long as it wasn't made available to download?

Whassup dudes. It's my first time visiting this thread in a couple of months. I made an instrumental song inspired by this gif of Twilight riding a rocket and being cute :3

Right. According to the Google doc, you can post a download link to the finished WAV/AIFF/FLAC/other non-lossy format here and I'm sure it'll be added to the album.
Alternatively, you can upload it straight to the OneDrive (https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=C6319434888276ED%21105).
There was a bit of a fumble with Protocat uploading a song of his to YouTube shortly before asking whether it can be added to the album: guidelines are technically against it.

I'd say it's reminiscent of Cyriak's musical work, even to the point where it makes me feel wholly uncomfortable.
If you think it makes the animation cuter, I have some bad news for you...

Welp, here goes nothing then. I'm a big fan of Cyriak but my musical style (and I suspect Cyriak's too) is more inspired by the band Cardiacs than anything else.

After the album drops, you are free to post as you please. We're not copyrighting these.

I like where this is going. The beginning bit with the xylo soundin thing before the organ has some dissonant notes that don't fit the feel. Like, I hear it switch between spooky and light/playful, and, based off the rest of the song, it sounds like it shouldn't be spooky. Also, is it gonna have vocals eventually? I'm hearing vocals that can work very well over top of this. Needs work on mixing, but I don't evne know if you are at that stage. Thumps up, though. Keep it up.
