This kind of makes me think you are false flagging to make /mlp/ look retarded, because nobody has a *right* to anything re: the main cup channel. Nor is the FT an invitational, since nobody is invited. We choose not to pursue airing it on the main channel because it doesn't have a broad appeal to the larger cup audience. It's an /mlp/-specific event filled with horse teams. We could surely pull in more viewers using the main channel, but that has never been a motivating factor (keep this in mind with respect to the attention whoring accusations).

I feel comfy belongs on a separate channel, except under specific circumstances, because it isn't related to either 4chan or the Cup, and the main channel should be about the 4CC primarily and 4chan stuff and cup-related stuff secondarily. We aren't forcing the panel to be live streamed on the main channel, so I think you're grasping at straws to suggest a connection. I can't really argue with your memory, but I do have a full transcript of my contributions because I wrote them in advance and copy/pasted them as they became relevant. Lear posted the questions that would be asked a week or so prior to the town hall, so being an autist I came prepared. My argument was based in propriety of use, as summarized above. That said, I think it would be naive to suggest nobody would ever use something like open access to hosting on the main channel to seek attention, when people have gotten involved in the cup for exactly that reason. I could name some, but the specific examples aren't important to this discussion and you should be able to think of some yourself. If I were asked, I would say /merit/ should discourage that type of behavior rather than enable it, and I feel 24/7/365 hosting of comfy enables that behavior. It's the least important point in a portfolio of unimportant points. I emphasize, again, that this isn't something I'm stuck on.

Offering my 2 cents here, since I'm being mentioned despite not being involved in any of this (I wouldn't be caught dead at a MLP convention).

My stance on comfy is that streaming on the main channel should be left to streamers competent at entertaining people. Several people of the comfy cabal who recently started streaming comfy were absolutely terrible at it. On top of that, comfy became scheduled, so it felt like the occasional fun time with Boris, Sou, or Germanbro turned into a nonstop parade of mouth breathers squatting the channel with bad content while the same ten or so people (most of which were comfy streamers as well) circlejerked in chat, unrelated to what was going on. I personally don't care about what people stream, as long as they do it well and make it entertaining.

The Friendship Tests aren't really an invitational. They're the managers testing their ideas against each other, which turned into an organized stream event because /mlp/ was interested in watching this process. No other boards streams their tests on the main channel, and I'm not sure why we should.

Regarding the panel at BABS con, the way I understood it it was organized for /mlp/ posters who go there. I have no idea why people think 'normies' would be interested in the panel, or why it would bring Equestria Daily and non-/mlp/ fags to the cup. If PMB thinks he can do something fun for the board at a pony event together with a couple of other (ex-)managers he occasionally meets up with, then he has my support.

This is a false assumption you are making. I had a friend proofread the doc script and we argued pretty intensely over it because he criticized the fact that it made no effort whatsoever to explain what the cup was. It assumed an audience already familiar with the ins and outs and general history of the cup, which he felt was a problem because "casual fans will be in the audience and they won't have the knowledge you are assuming they will have." I specifically didn't want to host an introductory panel for the uninitiated (and we are initiated, aren't we, Bruce?), so it's catered to people who are actually already fans and follow the cup. That approach may alienate randoms, but I don't share my friend's concern over that.

Please do not be so hasty in your assumptions.

Most people that are involved in the cup know it should be kept only to 4chan. And I disagree that it fits the situation. BGP was talking specifically about the cup getting banned on 4chan by using 4chan to drive users to unrelated content on a different website, which if you aren't aware is exactly why "advertising" streams like the cup got banned from 4chan in the first place. His argument was "if you use 4chan as the launching pad for something that doesn't have to do with 4chan (comfy), then you run the risk of the ban hammer just like happened in the past under the same circumstances." You can't just swap out words and pretend to make the same point. "The rest of the 4cc community" is in no position to ban the cup from 4chan and banning /mlp/ from the cup because some ex-managers are doing a live cup event would be a serious ass pull.

Asking "did they ask Lear" is like asking "how does Lear feel about the roster?" The commissioner makes sure the cup runs smoothly. He doesn't override how teams are managed, provided they are managed within the rules. There is no rule against panels.

I applied for the panel back in October and my follow up emails to the con were ignored for months, in fact. The con is in a few days and we only got our panel approved in the end after (I assume) somebody cancelled. We definitely didn't receive preferential treatment and none of us had an inside track.
