I feel like the new writers just need to cut their teeth on another season then they'll rally when they start on season 8 after the movie drops. Seems like they're wrapping up GlimGlams arc this season so we'll see what new ideas they bring to the table after that.
Honestly I'd like to see how they handle Flurry's character, not baby tier shenanigans(which we'll get one episode of) but I'd like to see her character actually grow older and develop, see bits and pieces of her finding her place in the world(hell even a first day of school episode would be cute as fuck).

2 Major reasons.

1. She only exist to promote better yoylines dedicated to litle girls who want a baby pony doll. Before she was created, age regressed Pinkie in a diaper had to fill that role which was creepy. Now their toys make more sense and parents and little girls see them as more tv show adapted.

2. Characters don't age in these type of cartoons. Granny Smith will never die. CMC and Spike will never become teenagers. If they age them they would also age other characters. Give mane6 boyfriends and own families so they woudnt look like 40 old virgins who live alone.
