Remember when this show had staff that cared about the end product, and we were looking forward to more pony, not dreading it or setting up Bingo cards?
Remember when we thought about the show and had fun discussing it, and we weren't told to """turn your brain off""" by the Glimfags that are supposedly also bronies?
Remember when MLP tackled complex issues and had good morals and great character moments and original plots, and the writers weren't convinced throwing characters into awkward situations to make the cringers laugh=comedy?

It's less impressive than tv/movie references. Writer just says "we need something smart to put on this blackboard", and someone spends 10 minutes on Wikipedia.

That's bait. Slice-of-life, which is 90% of the show, is by definition conventional and ordinary. Just because the characters are relatable doesn't mean genius storytelling.
