Princess Applejack

Howdy, partner!

What you see here began as a series of comedy-centric stories with the concept of an alicorn-ascended Princess Applejack trying to change a mismanaged Equestria for the better by humorously interacting with the other, quite lazy, princesses. Plus late night pink antics.

Not to mention a whole bunch of Changelings with nothing better to do but cause mischief.

The whole thing was set in motion by this gem:

~~~~~
>So, wait, why am Ah' a princess again?
>Because you seem to be the only goddamn one of those ponies who gets that a Princess need to do actual work regarding maintenance of the kingdom. You know how much city planning or trade negotiations Twilight or Luna have done? Fucking nothing. Everyone is obsessed with the world ending threats they think I should fight, but the minute I point out the free health care I have to work to maintain everyone goes quiet. And don't even get me started on Cadence, who can't even manage a basic meeting with the Equestrian Games representative. Fucking annoying. Go do actual princess stuff, because apparently everyone else got the pamphlets mixed up or something and thinks "Princess" means "Beat cop."
~~~~~

Are you feeling creative? Try your hand at writing a story! No contribution is too small and we love having new folks around.

If you're more artistically inclined give a drawing or sketch a shot. Don't fret too much; it doesn't have to be fancy and we appreciate artwork a lot.

If that isn't your style either, writers always need feedback. So tell us what you liked - and what you didn't - to help us improve.

If you are unsure about anything, do not be afraid to ask. We will gladly bring you up-to-date or explain anything you feel is unclear.

Thread 190! Time for one last big story, and it all comes home!

>>
>>29807640
Sorry guys, Chitty is pushing her way to the front this time!
>>
>>29807643
Jesus it hurt too.

Just watching her call out for Sunset, desperately try to keep her safe and save her, and then the shot to the fucking eye.

New rule! Nobody good gets to go for the eyes, okay? Just fucking stop witht the eye shots, it confirms you're an asshole.
>>

Yeeeaahhhhh, she's going to tear everyone a new one.

EVERYONE
>>

Pennydrop has always been like this. It just established her as someone who is going to get kicked in the arse for it later for all of us.
>>
Soooo...

...anyone think Sunset & Co are honestly dead? Or at least, one of them? Worst of all for me is that there has been not a single peep from Thirteen. What the shit happened to her?!
>>
>>29807743
Probably not, but that's less important than the fact Chitty THINKs she/they are dead.

13 is almost certainly loooooooong gone, Chitty wouldn't want her around during such a dangerous time and Sunset was honestly shocked when she thought seven was her
>>
>>29807681
Sunset never stopped hoping, never stopped believing she would come to save her. Then tons of rubble smashed down on her.

Fuck. Me. This is must be like losing her first pony friend all over again for Chitty. And last time,she ripped someone's head off and spat into it!

>How's about instead Ah' make yer' hope of escape disappear.

"That one was clever enough I'll let you have a shot. Right on the chin, go for it."

>Ah' thank you. Mah' question is, have ya' thought about using hoofball games in order to boost revenue with stadiums and or concession stand profits?

"Yes, but I ascertained that while they provide entertainment for the masses, they also put a strain on local businesses who see little or negative business on game night and often cause damages that must be repaired in bulk when a game gets too rowdy or controversial. It's a wonderful passtime, but while it does put a strain on events and boosts our earth hoofprints, it's better to keep them out of big cities and away from small businesses."

>Oh.

"Did you expect something different?"

>Ah' didn't expect you to research it so much.

"I considered putting a stadium in Canterlot."

Fan-freaking-tastic. Canterlot must be ever so delighted that project of acceptance failed.

>Sunset never stopped hoping, never stopped believing she would come to save her.

It only hurts because she really tried, she really tried and just fell short thanks to the shot to the eye.

Being Chitania is suffering.
>>
>>29807803
What hurt ME, the reader, the most was Sunset's reaction when she realized she was going to die. That Chitty wouldn't make it. She didn't fear for herself, she didn't howl at the gods or cry. She just said, "I am sorry I let you down." before her end. The one, powerful line that implied she was willing to give herself up completely for Chitty.. that one line she had wanted to hear herself all her life... broke my heart.
>>
>>29807790
Maybe but the "heroes" are going to feel like shit.

I don't think Chitty is making it out of this one in one piece...
>>
>>29807837
>Maybe but the "heroes" are going to feel like shit.
A Team and Pennydrop went in there planning to, in the worst case scenario, kill them. Worat of all, they certainly still want Chitty dead.

They don't get to be called Heroes by my understanding anymore. The real heroes either stayed at home or fought and lost everything today.
>>
>>29807834
That, to me, says this was as much about just wanting to make her current 'mentor' figure happy. She just wanted one time where her intelligence and her brilliance and her hard work finally paid offf and was acknowledged. Note that during this, she never once said SHE was going to be alll powerful and unstoppable, SHE never was going to be the one the gods feared, she just wanted one time when someone who gave her praise honestly made her feel like a success. Just one time with someone she cared about, and who cared about her enough to protect her as much as possible, and never neglect her.

I think, honestly, the worst part is Chitty knew that.
>>
>>29807862
>The real heroes either stayed at home or fought and lost everything toda

OR are currently risking life and limb flying through a building under attack by an airship then later Mecha-titan in order to get their friends out of there in time.

Don't dismiss 7's bro-tier here, he earned it.
>>
>>29807862
>Worat of all, they certainly still want Chitty dead.

They literally opened fire on her while she was trying to paw at rubble.

No shit do they want her dead.

7 does indeed not get put on the shitlist.

He can join Silver Spoon and Sweet Note over in the corner of "Too pure for this arc"

I never thought I'd see Chitty cry out for someone again. That huge butch was so utterly stoic and dead inside from her horrible past experiences that I genuinely believed she only acted selfish and mean because there was nothing else but cynicism left inside of her.

Good to see that we still found the last remaining bit of hope inside her to crush and stomp on.

She's just gonna lay down and stop moving for a long time after this, isn't she?
>>
>>29807743
I hope Fizzle or at least Flash is. It's unlikely, but it would be great if they were.
>>
>>29807906
Kinda simplifying her behavior, she wasn't exactly stoic most days, more bitterly happy, but holy shit that pic has never been more appropriate.
>>
>>29807917
>Hopes Fizbro is

What?

Flash I kinda get, but Fizzle has been a damn allstar this arc. Shit, we even got to see him get protective of Flash and Sweet Note, and his internal thoughts when not-Chitty was breaking him were A-plus.

I NEED him to wake up and realize Chitty sacrificed her position and possible her all-powerful moment to go down and save him when she really didn't have to.

That honestly just makes Sunset all the more depressing. She genuinely believed that she was going to make Chitty give her praise and adoration, and she DID. Remember right before AUJ arrived? She was caring, attentive and downright happy.

Chitty's not going to stop until everything is dead. After she fights mecha-chitty she's just going to run up to the nearest living thing and kill it.

While that does show a good beatdown, that's from Godzilla X Mechagodzilla, Tokyo SOS, which is the sequel to Kiryu's movie.

More accurate would be the end of that movie where he uses the Absolute Zero Cannon on Godzilla and nearly kills him.

Mecha-Chitty is piloted by Pennydrop and hence not a cute.

Also, holy shit i just realized PART ONE of his finale was 20 posts.

Goddamn.
>>
>>29808235
KKA doesn't half ass it.

SPEAKING OF! Besides the fate of Sunsetcrew/Ateam and A/UJ enroute to the mixup, did he leave anything hanging? We got confirmation that the switch for heavens gate is tied to Chitty, we didn't see what it was but we know that the green thing is out of commission, and Pennydrop/Why Fizzle got a beat down was finally explained, what's he left hanging?
>>
>>29808317
I actually can't think of anything left unsettled. The gate got closed thanks to Pennydrop's interventions, even if they're alive the Crew is out of omission thanks to nobody being around and intact enough to save Sunset(Fizzle was DAMNED fucked up and Flash/Sweet Note had already gotten stabbed repeatedly/crushed, no way were they fixed in that short time), the airship crew were with Pennydrop so they're okay, Chitty's the last mare standing out of all the combatants and it's just down to her and Pennydrop in Mecha-Chitty. Assuming 7 and the others made it out, all of them are out of commission(DT has no power left to the point she can't even jumpjet, Daw's wings are chunked up with ice and broken all to hell, Spike is still sporting a stab wound, PJ looks like freddy kruger played hot potato with a hand grenade, Silver Spoon is in comatose mode and 7 is trying to carry all of them) and there's really nobody else sane who could make a difference save 13, assuming she can take control of Mecha-Chitty though it's armor.

AJ is still on the way, but considering how far she was and the fact this all happened in the span of minutes, it's doubtful she'll make it before the end of the battle. So... yeah, they pretty much resolved everything except the final battle of RAGEEEEEEEEMODE Chitty VS Mecha-Chitty who just drained the ungodly powerful love out of the building.
>>
>>29808337
Realmode, what could AJ possibly do to stifle Chitty's rage this late in the game?

Yeah

What was the trap? How was it meanto to work? How was it meant to protect everyone? Was it the past or the future we saw? How did Discord delete it? I'm so very confused
>>
>>29809176
Not the guy you were talking too but a time dilation devise usually slows down time within a localized area to a crawl. To everyone on the outside it would look like everything was going slow mo or even stopped all together. To everyone on the inside time would seem like normal but on the outside would be speeding along. The trap was meant to keep everything inside the area of effect contained in a state of super slowmo and give someone on the outside the time needed to solve the problem.

So Discord deleting it basically fucked any chance of long term containment and a chance to fix everything while the damage was still minimal.

Hoped this helped, also watch more Scify.

SWEPT UNDER THE RUG BECAUSE "oooh they're not important characters" GROUPTHINK WILL NIX ANY OF THE MAIN CAST DWELLING ON IT
>>
>>29809603
I don't think anyone save a handful of people actually know about it at the moment.
It might end up getting loose and going out into the world, causing problems that the main cast will have to deal with. Probably one of the status quo changes. We'll see soon enough.

Anyways, Chitania's about to go H.A.M. on everybody.
>>
In 9 hours or so I will be back home from work

There I will write Celestia and Luna catching notice of /something/ horrible beyond doubt happening /somewhere/, say, a hundred thousand or so souls screaming in abject horror to a familiar yet warped voice

Maybe some mental link, maybe some magic sense, I do not currently know

They will go and fly in the direction of this horror, which just so happens to be in the contrails of AJ's angerball airship

I do not know what they will see when they get there, not in the least, this arc throws too many curveballs for me to make a judgement call

But I won't suffer another apnea riddled night's sleep wondering when the two ponies with the most responsibility to the people of Equestria will show up in the Condolence Conga Line after this constant beatdown of an arc has ended

I will not sit idle, I will not let them sit idle

I am no grand writer,not even a good one, nearly all of my work is either NC'd, painfully basic even in the most dramatic of scenes, or collapses in a failure to follow it up.

But I will batter myself bloody to get somepony outside of this arc to atleast make an effort to get to this carrion-feed city

Does anyone think they can do better than me? Beat me to the punch?

Cos you're more than welcome to do so

My proposal: have them notice Discord is gone. A force of nature like that disappearing must register on Faust's direct descendants. I mean, they both have been shown to occasionally have prophetic sreams/visions.

At the very least Fluttershy, who is extremely intimately bonded to him, would feel SOMETHING. Build up on that!

Whyyyyyyyyyyy did you build it up only for the Robo Chitania (Who I totally thought was the Fizzle smashing Chitty but was thrown off by the perfect outer disguise;seriously why bother with that all that'd achieve is shit loads of blue-on-blue fire) to just *plonk* and wank the mains out.

Come on you telling me there wasn't a single backup generator just in case?
>>
>>29810827
>backup generator just in case?
Either that was supposed to be Blue Luminescence or it seriously fucked with it. And not only that. MechaChitty was SOMEHOW able to absorb every bit of love magic from the tower, including Sunset's, who was linked to it. Even of there was an backup, Sunset was like Shining Armor during the wedding. Too drained to do anything.

BL was something else entirely.

Love=opens the portal with the Orb and leads to the Hivemind

BL=opens the other side of the portal with the dream stone and leads to heaven.

Apparently the Hivemind power was supposed to go what's inside of the green obelisk, then Chitty does something to make the computer think she's gone, unlocks the power line leading to BL, and then the gate to heaven is opened.

It's remarkably well detailed.

>Celestia
“Luna”
‘???’
[???]

Celestia never really felt it coming, a moment she was sat at the table, alongside Luna, that things would… recover, following the rather loud noise of something Applejack related.

“You sure this will get any better”

Luna was less enthusiastic about prospects.

>Well, we can always step in, if you really want to

“…”

Silence fell, whatever had happened, it had to be Applejack to resolve it, Celestia often panged for intervention, but she was also worried about how it would pan out, let disaster strike or overcompensate?

“…Celestia..”

It didn’t matter, she supposed, Equestria would struggle on, she and all the other Princesses would work towards a better future, it’d be fine, it’d wor-
“Cel..”

Then it hit her, she only briefly looked with puzzled expression at Luna’s sudden grimace when a sudden, cold noise filled her mind, slowly, quietly at first. Enough time for the two to look to the window, looking out towards…

>”..M-“

They never registered their mouths opening, or even what they tried to say, before a cold howl roared with the ferocity of a gentle snowfall.

She couldn’t breathe, her skin felt pallid, Luna was shaken from her seat, her hooves stumbling on the hard unyielding ground, this wasn’t right, she couldn’t see straight and she struggled to think as she struggled to even process the… noise that echoed in her head.

Celestia heaved, she clambered down, struggling to the window, it was luck that she found Luna, who was already worse for wear than her and shot out a hoof onto her back, drawing her in instinctively. The air felt thick, stale and unmoving yet cold like something that had never been touched in years,

She couldn’t hear anything, she could barely see Luna, so she held onto her, the darker alicorn returning the hold desperately as they bared the sound together…

1/?
>>
>>29811362
Mourning, anger, loss, confliction, confusion… The two sisters clutched onto each other as the howl rang in their minds, it felt wrong, like a wounded animal, someone in pain, a cry of horror and fury from numberless mouths before melting into one single bitter scream.

Celestia could not turn her head away from the window; the horizon… did not change, but something moved, something flashed. A distant pin of light that was not really there grew and then dissipated. Deep down within Celestia something long forgotten stirred into recognition, her mind raced as it tried to recognise it, a millennia of life uninterrupted asked questions and only fragments of answers.

Luna couldn’t look, her head buried into her sister’s chest, this cacophony burnt her, she couldn’t understand it, and she felt chided, scorned and reassured all at once by an unknown thought that rattled in her head. A bloodshot eye snapped open and caught a glimpse of the world beyond the window frame; she saw something, a dull flash of light. She blinked, and the flash followed through her eyelid before simply… not being there as her eye refocused.

That noise, that terrible malaise of raw emotion that roiled through the Alicorns like a cold emptiness and burning cacophony finally sputtered out with a crescendo, a strangled yell before the silence deafened them.

They held that weak pose, both of them gasping in air as their ears readjusted, Celestia felt her hooves, felt her sister. They broke apart as though something had caught them, then they stared at each other.

“…Celestia…what…was…was that…wha…”

She shook, she had never felt more afraid in her life, small, scared and weak, eons of unpleasant memories surfaced to her.

>I...

Celestia could only mouth wordlessly, she struggled to comprehend it all, she knew this… but she was hopelessly lost in it as well.

“…I’m scared”

>Me too… that…

“…”

>Luna… something terrible has happened.

2/?
>>
>>29811382
The two shaken alicorns were stood still, as another sensation began to build in them. They could feel it in their hooves- No, they didn’t feel it through their hooves, they felt through what COULD be their hooves. They felt the stuff of unbound potential, a sense of power both limitless and feeble rolled past them, conflicting and confusing and disorganised and repeating and ending and coalescing and flying and running and

“Is this… This is Discord… isn’t it?”

That scream, that yell, it did ring familiar, they had heard it before

The first time, that …voice rippled with sardonic mockery as it was sealed away, the buzz and hum and pantomime of chaos that whirled with it festered and wilted, almost as though it had been interrupted.

The second time, they had felt it ring with an aura of shock, the tide of noise rippled about with feigned extravagance, it had been caught unawares and shifted accordingly, yet it knew what had happened.
But this time…

>Discord… what…?

That voice was strangled, struck down, caught more than unawares, it had been filled with a single, resounding emotion from the menagerie of chaos it could choose from.

Fear

The… buzz and song of chaos clattered past them, lost and confused, fleeing from made up maladies that sprung and chased their own tail, yet the power was cut from its host, unused, it spiralled away into self-defeating madness and anguish.

It didn’t pain them, not like the horrid howl that preceded this, but as long as they could feel it, they felt sick to the bone.

“…Sister, we need to… we need to find him! He must be behind this!”

She couldn’t shake her head to her, she was right, but she didn’t truly believe her.

>I… This isn’t just him, it’s… it’s someone else.

“Who?”

>I-I don’t know, it could be one pony, it could be… a trap… or a thousand ponies. I cannot…

3/?
>>
>>29811394
No, she knew, yet she could not remember, something stirred that was far more familiar to her than Luna, the poor girl had been cast from the earth for a thousand years, she couldn’t understand.

>…Mother

“...Mother?”

They simply stared, the horizon unchanged, that light they saw simply wasn’t there… maybe it never was… But it was real, they felt it, they felt something… Something close, something wrong.

>Luna, we have to go

“What if it’s a trap? Discord’s doing?

>Didn’t you feel it? There’s something else… something we know of, if we felt it…

They craned their necks, outside the window into Canterlot, they spied upon a single solitary guardspony on watch, he made no move, no motion out of line, nothing out of the ordinary

“…Just us”

>… I can’t… if it is..

“Mother?”

>It can’t be but-… we have to go, we have to see for ourselves

“…We’re her children, she would never-“

>Luna, this is not like her, and with Discord too…

No more was said, despite everything, every sense that told them to run from… a terrible anger… They had to go, they didn’t know what
they’d find, for good or for ill. But they would go regardless

“... If this is a trap-“

>I know, the guard can keep Canterlot safe, I know they can

Magic was summoned to their horns, even now their skin felt… wrong…

A moment passed, then another, then an-

FLASH

‘OOF!’

[OW!]

[Hnnn, is that you, Pommel?]

‘…Yes, you’re on top of me, please get off’

>Pommel, you must rouse the guard, be on alert

‘Princ- what? What’s happening?’

“Star, you summon the guard for Canterlot, you must keep it safe”

[I uhh- Highness?]

The two captains looked at the two sisters, what they saw worried them. Haggard, uncomposed, and with expressions of unsettled anguish on their faces.

4/?
>>
>>29811400
>Captains, I am truly, truly sorry we cannot tell you why you’re being asked of this

“We do not know what threat is upon us, even if it is upon us”

>We do not know where it is, why it’s there, or how dire it is

“But… we must leave, we will go after it, we promise we won’t simply abandon Canterlot”

>…Pommel, I wish I could explain it all. But I am just at a loss as you are

‘I…I…’

Rouse the guard? An unknown threat? The Princesses absentia? What was going on?

‘I.. Yes your highness, we won’t let you down

[Princess Luna, we won’t fail you]

This was no test, this was genuine, it was… after all this time, what they had prepared for, even if it was nothing in the end then it showed that they were ready for anything.
Two salutes were thrown up, and small acknowledgement was given, just two curt nods and a slightly pained smile from Luna

It was enough.

Two bursts of magic rattled the guardsponies, as Celestia and Luna vanished from their sight.

[…That was sudden]

‘I should feel like getting teleported away from the screaming Griffon Queen is a bad thing overall, not professional and all that...

[So it's just us holding down the fort]

‘Yeah… Shouldn’t be too hard, right?

Above them, on the rooftops, two alicorns stood and stared into the mysterious distance, whatever it was, they’d find it, they had faced down terrors and horrors before. With the help of so many wonderful ponies they could best anything.

But if this truly was who they feared it to be so…

>… Luna, it’s alright to be scared

“… She knows you better than me, you were her fav-“

>Luna! Please… we have to keep our composure

“Okay… Alright… I’m calm”

Unspeaking, they unfurled their wings and took flight, off into the unknown.

…It wasn’t difficult, they felt where this trouble was, they would simply go straight to it.

That and the angry airship contrails provided a good visual reference too

I really tried to ignore it with AUJ not because it got AJ in, but because that's her portal, and her problems only happened when they messed with it, the INSTANT they messed with it and went away when Spike shot it. I hate that thing, but I forced myself to accept the story sense of "Messing with the portal is bad."

But this is literally "Yeah, that shit that's been going on? NOW it affected her. Why?...I have no idea, the Discord thing happened like two threads ago and time passed. But NOW there's some kind of signal spell from totally-legit-feelings that warned them because now it's important and off they go to find the important thing, because they're important and when you're important you just KNOW and go to it, it's a special sense that never ever comes up unless we need it to!"

I hate, hate, hate that plot device. I hated it when Discord was like "Oh I have this map that warns of this but just didn't see it, whoopsie!" and I hate it now because it's just 'The main characters couldn't MISS something, could they!? Surely nothing IMPORTANT could possibly happen without the main characters knowing, so lets give an alarm bell to their brains to tell them because reasons. Our main characters will always just KNOW when something important is happening and rush to the scene!"

I hate divine shit like that, it's the worst call to action ever. Might as well have had god come down and point there.

Over the last two threads I was in the belief that the Three would weave in a hook for the most magically "powerful" to catch wind of what was going on ala AUJ.

When that proved not to be the case I realised I had to get the two main princesses into this.

Two/three good reasons

1. Shit load of ponies getting murked through soul suckage is likely going to produce a hefty magic feedback
2. Discord goes kablamo unlike anything they've felt before
3. Fucking Equus/Mom/Bloople, how the fuck wouldn't they; the two most powerful and magically atuned, not get a sense of something going up with Momma is beyond me.

They've got connections, emotional and """lore""" wise for them to at least be closer to the scene than anyone outside of the arc, they don't know what's going on, only that it involves Discord and Possibly-Maybe-Faust, who else has the most hookes into either of those, eh?

They're not going in cos uwu main characters, they're going in cos they have links and responsibilities for all that's involved.

If you don't like that then fine, but I ain't NCing it so I have to twiddle my thumbs and then join in the post-arc scrum for Celly and Luna.

Unless you can do better, go on

>Over the last two threads I was in the belief that the Three would weave in a hook for the most magically "powerful" to catch wind of what was going on ala AUJ.

But them not makes it way worse when we decide to add one later, the delay is what makes this so blatant and everything I hate about how to do a call to action in a story.

>When that proved not to be the case I realised I had to get the two main princesses into this.

Okay, why?

If they don't have any reason for to be called and there's ONE STORY LEFT and they're still not called, why? Why did you have to get them into this? What, exactly, does this add besides a hasty "No no, if something important happens, they'll just know, you know? They're main characters and literally a giant voice from nowhere will tell them because they're important."

>1. Shit load of ponies getting murked through soul suckage is likely going to produce a hefty magic feedback

That apparently travels slower than horse-running speed across distances.

>2. Discord goes kablamo unlike anything they've felt before

And nobody notices until way later, but THEN it's serious.

>3. Fucking Equus/Mom/Bloople, how the fuck wouldn't they; the two most powerful and magically atuned, not get a sense of something going up with Momma is beyond me.

Because it's been forever and nothing happened. If it was 'they'd sense it if something happened because they're divinely intuned' then we need to actually show them sensing it at some point before it's so hammer-thwacking painful to the narrative to shove it in. Why would it be that strange that they wouldn't know it? That something magical happened and well, it just didn't set off a hitherto unexplained node in their brain to tell them? Again, it's just this one time, it's never happened before, but now that it's narratively convenient BAM! It matters now!

>They've got connections, emotional and """lore""" wise for them to at least be closer to the scene than anyone outside of the arc,

No, they don't! They have some connections to it thematically but nothing in the show indicated they can just tell when Discord is affected by anything and this damn glowing thing has been found, contained, released, gone on a rampage and then stopped by Discord, and then NOTHING for like six battles worth of time period and then out of the blue 'My gosh! We've got a place to be! The thingy in my head said so!'

>They're not going in cos uwu main characters, they're going in cos they have links and responsibilities for all that's involved.

No, they're going in because out of the blue a giant noise came down and told them to do it because they're 'important' and if you're important things just tell you to go to the story when it's convenient instead of any sort of setup and establishment connection.

>If you don't like that then fine, but I ain't NCing it so I have to twiddle my thumbs and then join in the post-arc scrum for Celly and Luna.

I don't want you to NC it, I'm just saying I hate the way the call to action was executed, and I hate how blatant it all was. I'm not asking to get rid of it, I'm just pointing out how bad it is to use as a valid plot element when it's literally a convenient alarm bell with no connecting event to set it off.

As I said, this plothook is the worst for me, but I at least respect it when it establishes something else in the story and shows consistency with prior events and utilizes proper timing. I'm not knocking you, I'm saying that for the love of god, let this be the last time we freaking put a damn random bell inside of someone to tell them when something is going on just because we can't be arsed to actually setup some proper story development.

>Unless you can do better

It's been a week in real life! Even if you argued that time was wonky in story, there's been several large and very major events that took a long time to write in between it. We've literally had several homages to giant monster movies play out in between this.
>>
>>29813096

I'd love that to be the case but with the entire arc hinging on three people it's kinda champing at the bit at some point.

>YES! A WEEK! I WAS CERTAIN WE'D GET MORE CHARACTERS PULLED INTO THIS! BUT THAT TURNED OUT TO BE NADA!

So then why is it important now, is my question. Why now? What's different NOW? Why do they HAVE to be there if the only way to do it is the equivalent of the bat signal being turned on at the wrong time by an intern?

>I fuckin said I wasn't hot shit with writing,

Alright? Was that supposed to mean 'don't critique me'? I mean if you want I'll stop, I've said all I wanted to say about how it was used, but just saying "I'm bad at this" doesn't mean I'm going to just go "Well if he said he was bad..."

> if anyone else can come along and slap my story to shit with how it SHOOOULD be done then fucking go ahead!

Okay then, just a suggestion, but why not just include them at the end? After the one last story that is the end of this arc, I mean. Why not just use the narrative and include them naturally when it would make the most sense for them to be called to it?

>You got around 4 or 5 hours! Go ahead!

...Okay, KKA? Is that you? Are you saying the last part is dropping in five hours? If so, yay, but also if so holy shit man come on, you're better than that. It's a bad plot element, it's a serious flaw in the story, and this is the time to address it, no need to be angry about it. I realize that it's possible your finale needs them in some capacity but that doesn't mean it's going to be just accepted for a last minute change to the story to fit it, you could have fit it in.

>Cos I ain't seeing anyway of """fixing it""" for you, like cracking a goddamn nut with your bare hands trying to get into this arc-zone

So leave them out of it if it's so damn important!

Because of the scrum, post arc, everyone and their mother would be pulling in characters from across the board to React and Act on the events of the arc, I wanted to get Celestia and Luna in closer and with direction so that they'd get first shot and ownership of whatever happened at the end.

Cool. About time they flexed their author at I've muscle. I am all for it... just... ah... a small hint? Let them discover things bit by bit. Let them be actual princesses. Let them push it solving what happened and clean-up... and mmmmmaybe....? Don' poke Blue Luminescence yet. People like one levity after such a huge arc.

Okay, I have no idea how you got that one but I'll be happy to answer the next part!

>Current Conflict

Chiitania in ABSOLUTE RAAARGABLE mode VS Pennydrop piloting Mecha-Chitania hopped up on the Towers worth of love power.

>Who's where?

Those two aside, A-team's and Sunset-Crew fate is unknown, they were in the building before it got brought down around them, but we watched Sunset was still inside of it while it fell. Or rather, Chitty did, hence the BLAGRBABAHH mode.

The team/crew might've gotten out, might not, we don't know yet.

She was literally opening the gate to Changeling-Hell and he couldn't stop her in time, and since 7 was pinned nobody else could either. Either Pennydrop turned the thing to ash or everyone's fucked.

>>29813816

>But why?

Currently Chitty is trying to rip apart the one who just killed Sunset and her friends and made her lose everything for the second time in her life, and Pennydrop is trying to finally finish off the villain who's haunted her since thread 16. So, emotionally, pretty damn high stakes.

>What's at stake?

Heads still being attached to limbs and Chitania in "KILL EVERYTHING" mode.

>The orb? Or is that busted?

It was cracked when Spike shot it, but repaired by Sunset. If Pennydrop hadn't drained the building at that exact moment, the portal would have opened. It damn near DID open, it was wide enough she could hear it, but PD managed to stop her with Mecha-Chitania.

>Pommel
“Potsticker”
~~

Canterlot was unusually calm and quiet on this day.

Citizens and visitors alike went about their business without noticing any significant change, filling the streets with noise, activity and a pleasant buzz of words and noises flying around. But, below the surface and to those observant enough, it was obvious something was happening. Somethign was changing.

The guards usually patrolling the streets in pairs on the streets were gone. The occasional glimpses of dark shades peering out of the gloom of the city's shadows, keeping it safe while the plainly visible guard usually invoked a sense of safety were nowhere to be seen as well. All but a select few, an absolute skeleton crew meant to maintain the usual order, were gone from the streets, hallways and chambers all across the city of white. Canterlot was busy as usual, but something was changing.

At two different gathering places within the castle's many hallways, containing two wildly differing kinds of Guards, things were beginning to change.

~~

>Alright. ATTENTION! Listen up everybody, this is serious!

Even as the Pommel spoke, cosmetic armor was exchanged for practical ones, stallions and mares alike donning gear meant for combat and not for show. Spears were hefted up, swords sharpened, parade weapons and gear meant to merely subdue put away for later.

~~

“Due to circumstances they couldn't further elaborate on, the princesses are both gone and have left us with the solemn duty to protect Canterlot, and to a degree Equestria as whole, in their hopefulyl brief absence.”

Once more, Potsticker had dropped her cheer, play and fooling around to assume the role of the Captain of Luna's Guard. Her voice was solemn, her eyes were sharp. Shades all around her were upgrading their gear, pushing magical scrolls into holsters of armor that was both flexible and meant to take more than just a glancing blow.

~~

>They appear to be facing a new, unknown threat or problem, and have gone to investigate. They asked us to hold the fort meanwhile... but that doesn't mean we have to sit idle and wait for things to happen!

The youngest recruits looked uneasy, shifting on their hooves, nervosity plainly visible. The most veteran, seasoned and loyal of the Guard – those who had remained even many others resigned months ago- gave them reassurances through whispered pep-talk. They themselves were trying to appear as stoic as possible, but one could sense an air of tension even around them.

~~

“Keep calm. Stay vigilant. Be prepared. Don't let anyone outside the Guard notice something's happening. Inform who you must, but keep a firm vigil and do not let the fact that we are on high alert shine through. Keep an eye open for any unusual changes, for anything out of the ordinary!”

Amidst the many, batwinged ponies all around, a singular, young Changeling bit his lip, wobbling in place as one of his senior's fastened the custom-tailored armor to his small frame. Over at the entrance, Shades regularly disappeared and re-appeared in puffs of blue smoke, collecting intel and data from around the city and Equestria even as Potsicker spoke.

~~

>You see someone acting erratically? Investigate! You have a suspicion? Confirm it! You see something out of the ordinary? Even if it's just a differently-colored tile on the marketplace? Check it out! Do not go alone, always bring someone with you, and keep up everyone informed. This is SERIOUS. Do not take our responsibility lightly!”

>>
>>29816602

The rows of securityrobots listened, silently and unmoving, only the occasional, internal click or glimmer of light hinting that they were active at all. But they weren't idle. Those few of them still outside, patrolling the streets, were contacted through their sophisticated network and updated on the situation while others planned new routes to patrol to cover as much ground as possible.

~~

“We don't know what's coming, and when it will be here, if at all. But be ready, be prepared. Remember not to antagonize or alarm any of the citizens. Review emergency, evacuation and High-Threat response plans, and MEMORIZE them! Never forget that our highest duty is to serve and protect!”

A line of wobbling, blueish orbs at one end of the meeting room were supervised by some Shades. They depicted Canterlot's streets and the Castle's hallways from many, inconspicuous angles. Without a sound or command, they flicked from viewpoint to viewpoint, establishing a surveillance network that hadn't seen proper use in a long time.

~~

>Remember, we are Equestria's finest!

~~

“We are the sword and shield of the princesses!”

~~

>So go out there, and make Equestria proud. For them. For us.

~~

>”FOR EQUESTRIA!”

~~

Something was in the air in Canterlot on that day.

An electric tension, ready to discharge at a moment's notice. Everyone could feel it. Everyone knew something was changing.

But then, a smiling, gold-clad Guard or a gleaming security robot passed by and whoever had been feeling insecure moments ago relaxed again, going went about their day and never noticing the shifting of shadows observing them moving away to another spot within the city.

Both Celestia's and Luna's Guard were ready to keep the peace and make Equestria a safer place for everyone.

You consider that maybe the problem was that despite the guy being very open about working with him and allowing others emailing him(Including providing said email to use at any time), you just assumed he was going to cram in the MC's at the last minute?

We're not unpleasable, we get pleased all the time, but if a story has a bad element, it has a bad element, you can't both expect to change the course of an arc/arc's followup and also be completely shielded from critique. We didn't offer KKA that luxury when we thought he wrote the Discord bit, and we don't offer it now. Nobody is excluded from "Wait a minute this makes no sense.
>>
>>29817667
If you're referring to the guy what wrote in the Princesses that was me, and I am not >>29817616 at all, so I dunno what he wrote, did he write the guard follow up? The gryphon follow up? I don't know!
>>
>>29817679
Oh.

Well, I apologize in that case, it just seemed from previous comments that frustration was building. Understandable. I doubt he wrote the griffon followup though, since the only comment there was "Rude".
>>
>>29817616
Listen we can work things out, just tell us who you is? What didja write? What's the problem?
>>
You know what. Nevermind. I'll just go and come back later, and ask someone to spoonfeed everything that's happened while I was gone. Seems to be a trend.
>>
>>29817986
>kind of shit is meant in God humor, you jackass! It

It is.

>t's one thing to make fun of things happen in in a story,

Which is what those do.

>Is just such a giggling, snarky bullshit directed at the effort someone made to develop thing

Right, because the story is supposed to be snarky and silly, like when we take potshots at the show.

>I hate the atmosphere.

Kay? It was just a silly story making fun of the guys who forgot about the griffons completely when Celly and Luna were running to them, then they grabbed Pommel.

>You are taking this shit way too fucking serious and are starting to make it unpleasant for everyone else just trying to have fun here!

We don't usually hold high standards when you're just trying to be silly and have fun, only when you're trying to be serious and affecting the plot. I mean if you want to have fun, have fun! What the fuck? It was a humorless story about how the guards are all getting ready for an event and war and such, how is that supposed to be a "No don't take it seriously" thing?

>>29818028
/pa/l, honestly? I think you do need a break, just a step back and a breath that'll let you actually look at the stuff being written instead of through hurt eyes. You literally took a story making fun of an admitted slapdash and put together on the spot story and thought it must be a personal attack, rather than you know, the characters making fun of meta like we do. You need to take a breath, re-evaluate what it is you want out of this, and maybe not try to be so quick to judge.

Or not, I guess. It's up to you.
>>
>>29817986
>You can't just go up and write something for fun because you want to make something happen.

PP/Rainbow Dash at griffonstone.

Took me fucking FOREVER too, and you guys never complained, except for the understandable changeling bits. It was silly, it was completely nonsensical, but I think the biggest thing was I never took it completely seriously during, like it wasn't an earth shattering event. I don't know if I could have written like this arc needed, because I' pure humor most days and nobody seems to mind. My advice is just do that if the serious stories have too much pressure for you, apparently we've got three very talent writers who love it! Or maybe next time, ask KKA what he's doing. Guarantee you he will weave you book or something on how to get what you want in there.

>>29818028
Awwww, that sucks, but it's understandable. Don't be gone too long, /pa/l, we've got the finale waiting us!
>>
>>29818219
Yeah, we can have completey silly, IC stuff, we do it all the time. Before she got roped into this, AJ was doing that with the griffons.

I think he's just a bit overburdened right now and that one anon came off a little too harsh in his critique, he'll be alright.
>>
>>29818327
>that one anon

That was me, and only me until the other guy beneath the griffon story, and I accept I might've been harsh but I stand by it. I didn't ask for a NC, I didn't tell him to rewrite it, I just said my opinion on how I felt about that particular usage of a tired plot element, nothing more. If that's too much, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to ignore it. You all can ignore ME of course, nothing stopping you, but I'm not going to do the same. It was honest, I tried to explain myself as best I could, and that's all I'm giving.
>>

>>
>>29818417
>ow do you feel, now that the end of your hugeass arc is in sight?

Good for a lot of reasons, but I'll go into more feelings and all that after it's done, if I feel like it. I normally don't, because really I just feel weird talking about it, but I might have to after this arc.

Feeling good, not rushing, and hopefully delivering, that's how I feel.

And here... we....
~~~~
Things had not gone the best for Changeling number Zero Zero Seven on this day.
“SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT!”
The collapsing, rumbling building had only been the very peak of the horrid event he’d been a part of, the cusp on the end of a day that had started so smoothly and ended so recklessly.
In one limb, hooked tightly, was the dragon he had called at the very beginning of it all. The wide eyed and heroic soul who’d wished only to deal with the worst of the world to offer to shield those he loved from dealing with them and all the strife they brought with. Now he clung to the black limb around him, wetness still very present around his chest and a trail behind him still very visible.
There was a great deal of doubt this was how he saw the adventure that had seemed begun an eternity ago would end.
“SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT!”
The other, clinging to him just as tightly was his fellow warrior, his fellow changeling, one who’d asked of him at the start of it all to help keep her alive, one who had made a deal most vague to ensure her protection and that she would live on. Though his efforts to keep her from the scars on her hoof and side and the burns from marring her chitin had obviously been in vain, he’d kept his word, he’d put in place the means to keep her breathing.
As if she’d had to ask at all.
“SHIT SHIT SHIT!”
That was the crux of his panic as he soared through the wreckage of the building, eyes darting around every nook and cranny he could find. That was the focal point of why his heart hurt so very much and his heart throbbed with a painful beat. That was why he feared.
He could not leave them, any of them, no matter how his internal instincts screamed to let them go.
“SHIT SHIT!”
“THERE!”
1/??
>>
“THERE!”
His heart elated at call of the phoenix at his side, the ever vigilant and eagle eyed Blossom who had served him so very well. Her hoof had shot out when he passed by the top floor, down the very bend he’d followed Sunset before their grand battle had began. He kicked himself when he spotted the gray shape on the ground, cursed his own foolishness for not realizing she had been so very close by the entire time, that he could have missed something so obvious and so very close to where he had dived away from so recklessly.
“SHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT!”
His hind hoof hooked the remainder of her suit, torn from whatever had ripped that odd package she had carried from her back, and off they both went before she could so much as cry out.
“SHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT!”
That’s when the day, already so very terrible, somehow managed to get even worse.
The walls all around him had started to flicker.
“SHIT!”
Started to grow wild and discolored as he flew past the walls.
“SHIT!”
Then, abruptly, it had gone out.
“SHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!”
All pretenses gone, he wildly blasted in every direction, fired off beams out every corner and into every wall that dared be in his way. His beams heated his skull, made his already throbbing head pulse with pain, made his already blurred vision a myriad of colors and sounds. It had hurt him so to use up his love in such a way.
“AH!”
It had served its purpose.
He went purely on instinct towards the sound of pain from his attack, honing in like a missile through every obstacle that had stood in his path. All around him, he saw the cracks, heard the groaning of weight unable to be held any longer by supports who could take no more in abuse, he heard above that cry the shattering sound of glass broken as walls popped free and doorways shattered.
He followed that scream, almost as loud as his own.
2/??
>>
>>29825353
[small scream]
>>
>>29825368
Every single cell of his body told him to stop and turn. End his descent, shift to the side and fly with all his might to freedom and safety, to leave behind those he barely knew and barely cared to know.
He wished with his deepest heart that he could.
Yet when he heard them, their screams of worry, their honest fear intermingled with the desperate need to flee the collapsing building, he could not. He was pulled, through thoughts not his own, deeper into danger and farther from safety.
He cursed it, every inch.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
The final crush resounded just when he saw a flash of silver and pink fortuitously beside cerulean blue of magical ice chunks. He cursed his body that instinctively slowed ever so slightly, just enough he would not snap a neck in mistake upon reaching them.
He cursed it as he more clearly heard the sounds and fear filled his every being.
“SHIT!”
He hooked the larger mare with his free hind leg and snapped down on the nape of the smaller neck just as the ceiling began to drop.
“SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-“
Though it all he flew, as fast as he could fly and with every drop of power he still had, with all his hopes his fear and his dreams awaiting him as he blasted past every crumbling obstacle, every shattering wall, every falling chunk of the building that had become the battlefield of his team.
He flew through every inch of it, horn burning brightly all the way.
“IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII”
And he screamed every single second, until he shattered glass with his face and one last time tasted cool, crisp air above. He’d felt his tail nearly ripped off and his hind legs nearly broken at that final moment.
Before he’d even turned around, the building had already fallen.
“IIIIIIIiiiiiit…”
He wondered if his heart would ever stop beating so fast.
Even if it could, he wondered if he’d even want that at all.
“…holy shit…”
3/??
>>
>>29825381
He watched with wide eyes, bringing all of his limp teammates closer without thinking of it. He followed the building as it fell, unleashing a torrent of dust upon that completely covered him. In that cloud, hidden from the world, he watched it fall.
One, two, three, four, five. He counted them again, and his avian friend twice for good measure.
One, two, three, four, five, all breathing, all living, all in tact. Not fine, the look on their faces told of a story that was anything but that, but they moved, they breathed, and they lived.
They had all made it out in the final moments.
“…hoo… we… we did it, didn’t we?”
Yet, that feeling was still there.
The rolling in his stomach, the pain in his chest, the throbbing in his head.
One, two, three, four, five, and Blossom too, he counted them all again, they were still there, they were still alive.
His head still pounded.
Something was still missing. Something was wrong, and no matter how he searched, he could not find the answer.
It came to him with a simple word.
“…Sunset?”
A soft word, spoken from one who was anything but.
Her hooves pushed the cloud of dust aside. Be it from fear or his natural inclination to be hidden, he moved with it, keeping him and his stricken companions just behind the thick veil. He stared, and with her whisper, he heard her speak again.
“Sunset...”
It hit the infiltrator in that moment as he followed her movements, the answer to the question throbbing in his head.
He had been wrong.
“…Sunset…”
The changeling had assumed the brilliant, absurdly intelligent mare had a backup plan in place for her defeat, he assumed as he fled that any fear of her being caught up in the ensuring attack was a risk not worth taking, her own devices more than sufficient to keep her from any harm should the worst happen.
With every passing moment, the thought only grew stronger.
He had been wrong.
4/??
>>
>>29825388
He watched, rapt, as her horn began to flicker, as she tilted her head to the side in a fruitless search, still looking.
“Sunset… Sweet Note… Flash… Fizzle…”
Lost in a maze of twisted stone and steel that had been her home.
The warrior had seen her, in many different ways, in many different dates, rarely up close, never so when she stood this tall, yet he had never seen her like this.
The trained instincts that had taught him to search for any tell, any deception, a single indication she held anything less than the absolute belief in what she spoke went wild. Every crease followed, every single twitch noted, and they all spoke the same language.
“…Anyone…”
This was no lie.
This was no deception.
It hit him, with enough force to make him curl those he held into him out of the sudden pain in his chest, it hit him with more force than any he had taken this day, including the ones he had suffered at the very hooves of the monster who now stood before him. It hit him, and it hurt.
He had left them behind.
All of them, foes that had sought him and his friends dead, and he’d left them behind to be smashed into dust.
For reasons he could not explain, with words he could not speak, the love sapping changeling felt something terrible inside when he realized it, with nothing to come and sooth it away. They were gone, simply gone, and nothing could be done anymore.
The battle had begun with the striking down of the Queen Titan.
Now, in the end, she was all that remained.
“…any-“
He jumped, first from the sudden movement of the Queen changeling before him reaching forwards, then much harder after that when the lance suddenly streaked past behind the massive neck.
5/??
>>
>>29825395
His breath had been taken from him, a unique kinship with the royal above his stature in size and otherwise if the look on her face were true. He found himself turning with her, looking away from the one who had been his entire focus since his escape for the very first time. Only now, at last, did he see something that should have been impossible to miss.
Only now did he witness the gleaming splendor, the massive shape, the curious technological creation that was the mechanical twin of the Changeling Queen.
“…what in the name of the hivemind’s depths is that thing…”
He had expected many answers to be found when he had begun this journey what felt an eternity ago. He had not expected even more questions to be found that would require so much more searching to understand.
It was with a heavy heart, and a heavier soul, that he let his defenses fall as the Titan took aim at the newest fighter to the field, doubtlessly the one who had felled the building and it’s defenses.
The A-team, his team, had done their part. They had gone in, they had disrupted the plans in motion, they had kept the fighters busy and they had set the stage for the complete annihilation of the building and all with it.
They had started this battle, yet as he looked out over the flattened and destroyed remains of the city they had taken such care to avoid, he could not find another insistence, nor another denial to the fact of the matter.
The fact was, he would not gain those answers, not now. His time, the A-teams time in this battle, had ended.
He would gain no answers.
Those could only be found inside the armor plating, the netting of wires and gears and magic.
So very, very much magic.
“SWEET MERCIFUL CELESTIA!”
The former aircaptain of the now thoroughly grounded airship of Fawntaine Futuristics found himself goggling at the readouts he could just barely comprehend, numbers spewing at him in rapid succession so quickly he could only gleam the most basic of all of it.
“Status report, what’s our power at?”
The one in the center of it all remained cool, even as her fur began to stand on end from the charges dancing around the bands and wires across her entire body. She grit her teeth as another bolt surged through her, the entire room now so illuminated it hurt her eyes to stare at, yet proved impossible look away.
“We… the readouts don’t go that high, everything is off the charts, everything has broken the damn charts! We’ve got more power than… than…”
Her lip curled back into a feral smile as another charged lanced through her. None had seen it, none were brave or foolish enough to pry themselves away from their work to see when her eyes illuminated ever so slightly.
“Yeeeesssss…”
She sucked in sharply, the machine following the motions to take in breathless inhales of air with her. Times like this she lamented the lack of articulation in the cheeks and teeth, she would have given a majority stake in her company stock just to see the look on the changelings face when she felt this power.
“It feels… amazing.”
More power than Equestria had ever seen before, and it was at her command, surging through her body, filling her in ways that had never been possible before. That power fueled her, burned inside of her, made her feel more powerful than any creature who had ever walked this earth, past or present.
She was the only one who did not shake when the Titan Monster they so feared threw her head back and let loose the roar that shook the heavens.
She was the only one who looked on, unafraid, as the twin monoliths of black chitin reared back, and smashed into the ground.
“W…what is she doing?”
Again and again those twin limbs crashed into the earth, pounding it like a wild animal as she screamed. All sense and all sanity had been lost to the wails and the twisted gargling howls.
The monster of rage did not rush away, she did not fly on, she simply continued to bash and to bash and to bash against the ground as if it had been the one who wronged her.
With one final monstrous screech, the whole of her titanic body lifted once more, and her full weight on all four hooves came crashing down.
From that blow, came the cracks.
From those cracks, came the light.
“What in Tartarus is that!?”
All around her, blinding, searing light shot up from every split she had broken into the earth, a luminous harmony of white surrounding her and gracing her and all near with it’s otherworldly illumination. The destruction grew, stretching out along the city, reaching out beyond it’s boundaries and beyond.
It hummed, singing a song that had no sound and no tune as it rose, moving without touch past their ears and into their minds to speak directly to something more than grey matter in bone skulls. What was seen in that light from the monitor, heard from shielding that could keep out the mightiest of blasts, was something they could not comprehend.
Light, beautiful yet horrible light was rising from the earth, and it brought them terror.
“Give me a reading, something! Tell me what we’re dealing with!”
Dozens of eyes danced across a dozen monitors, reading over information, numbers, lists that brought up all sorts of information on all manner of measurements.
“…I have no idea.”
Not a single one made sense.
“It… the computer can’t read it, it’s going wild and malfunctioning just trying to look at it! Nothing about this thing makes any sense! There’s no known magic in all the world that’s even remotely close to this!”
Just looking at the readouts, information funneled through the eye of a simple machine made to sense magic and give symbols as a readout, was making his eyes go wild and screams go off in his head.
The brilliant unicorn at the monitor dared not wonder what would happen if he were to look directly at the magic, and try to understand it.
He was shaken from his slipping mind, pulled back into the real world once more, by a call.
They would not think it a roar, that word did it no justice to their minds. What they felt vibrate their shielded walls was nothing less than a call from that Titan beast.
To what, they could only guess.
With one more furious stomp, the brightness all around the monster in the center of her ruined city grew to blinding intensity, taking away all sight and all sound from her as the light surrounded her.
The Queen rose, propped up on hind legs that made her stand tall above all things broken or standing. Above them all, bathed in the light all around her, she gave her one final booming roar, and danced her magic on her horn.
It receded.
To the stunned looks of those who could still keep their gaze focused ahead, to the disbelieving eyes that strained to look on to the splendor and the glorious light emerging from the earth in harmonious waves, it receded.
Mixtures of strangely colored, plaid light intermingled with the pure white, coloration and distortion that bent at angles unnatural, twisted at parts that seemed to contradict one another at every turn. Like a virus, like a colorful shadow, that strange light infected every corner of that glorious, harmonious light.
Little by little by painful little, it receded.
>>29825422
To the disbelieving eyes of those small and standing taller than a dragon, it pulled back into it’s cracks, and that harmonious light was taken away. They all felt it, from changeling to pony to dragon, when an unseen wave passed them by. An otherworldly feeling of wind passing by as a great door was swung closed, an indescribable subtle reverberation down to their core when they felt it sealed.
The sun was still shining when it was gone. The sound of falling rubble and crackling fires were still quite loud.
Yet to the one standing in the middle of the ruins of all, it was dark, and silent.
“All… all systems clear, Miss Pennydrop! It… whatever that thing was, something stopped it…”
They all looked on, silent and hollow, as the mare stood stock still in the middle of the wreckage. Jaw slack, eyes unseeing, slumped over and breathless.
“…it’s gone…”
Not a sound came from her, not a whisper, she lay still in that wreckage, and would not move.
“…Stop gawking you idiots, NOW’S OUR CHANCE!”
The only one to keep some semblance of her sanity in the wake of the stunning and indescribable event was the first to shift and move, a mistake she would later regret.
For the machine had moved with her, following her every steps just as it should, and it caught the eyes she’d hoped would stare away.
Eyes that snapped over to her at her movements, even if the rest of the massive body remained perfectly still, eyes that honed in on the machine with precision unmatched in all the world. Eyes that watched as weapon systems lit up and prepared to fire.
Eyes that remained locked on when her massive chitinous hide shifted to the side beyond the reach of the next wave of energy to fire from the machines mouth.
Eyes that had been so cold and so hollow before.
They lit up now, with fires that had never been matched in all of history.
There had never been a hate like the one inside of the eyes of the changeling.
10/??
>>
>>29825435
There had never been a single hoofstep that had shaken the world like the one of that changeling.
There had never been a rage that shook reality like the one that poured from the screaming maw of that changeling.
“PREPARE FOR IMPACT!”
Nothing, not in this world or the next, could have prepared them for that.
When the rage filled hoof slammed into their metal hide, nothing could have prepared them for the sheer force that rocked through the metal cabin, nothing could have stifled their flight when everything suddenly shifted.
Nothing could have prepared them for just how far back they’d fly.
There was nothing to stop them, nothing to even to slow them down. The city had been flattened, any structure even partially standing completely felled by the shockwave of that brutal blow, leaving nothing but empty devastation all around. Nothing to stand in their way.
Nothing to prevent them from sailing over that destruction, and clear out of the city. The landing come the end was no kinder than the blow itself had been.
“Status report!”
Groans of pain and calls of bent legs or battered sides followed back.
“I said status report!”
“We’re all fine-“
“NOT YOU! My Titan! Status report on my Titan!”
His indignant look did nothing to stifle her glare.
“All- Oh shit she’s still coming! Fuck this! I’m out of here!”
Over a dozen different affirmations followed him, and with it, every single one of them poured to any escape area, any jettison port, even the barrels of the mecha’s guns were flooded by ponies of all shapes and sizes pouring out of the metal monster.
They flowed from her like blood, pegasi carrying all they could grab, unicorns magically pulling all they could carry, earth ponies lifting with sheer muscle, all of then flowed off her in droves.
“…cowards.”
Her attention did not linger on them for a moment.
“Fine then…”
All of it was directed to the raging beast in the center of the city.
“Just you and me… exactly how it should be.”
The one who roared in challenge, the one who threw her head back to the sky to call for her blood, the one waiting for her, to end her, to face her.
“You and me… are going to-HOLY SHIT!”
The one who moved faster than she’d ever thought possible, closing the distance in a single second, before rocking her once again with the most powerful blow Equestria had ever seen.
A new record already broken by the metal hoof that had matched it, and there was a great doubt it would be the last time.
“Not… this… time!”
Any who still doubted were left defeated when she followed up with a blow of her own, right to the changelings cheek. Dust scattered with the sound.
But the changeling would not be moved.
When she turned back, eyes still pure white with her rage, drool still rolling from her snarling maw, for a second the pony felt fear. Real, true fear.
“T-that… that should have… you can’t…”
So many memories of their past came back. So many times she had watched helpless, broken, as that monster destroyed everything.
“I can… I have a…”
She felt like a filly again, even while staring those blank eyes with perfect level sight, she felt so small against her.
“…I-I’m not…”
She felt so scared, when that hoof reached up and threatened to crush her.
“…I’m not WEAK!”
She met it in the air, and held it back.
“You hear me you damned monster! I’m not weak, not anymore! I’m not someone you can ignore ever again! I… I worked my whole life for this, I built this just for you, and you will feel it! This is what I can become! I’m not some insect, like you! I’m not going to let you walk away this time! I’M NOT GOING TO LET YOU WIN!… not again.”
She clashed with her again, shaking the world with a single blow.
Every band on her skin, every wire to her skull, every single part of her connected to the machine that surrounded her burned. It burned with a heat that felt as if it would sear her to the bone. It burned so much it felt it would fuse to her skin.
Everything, even her chest, burned.
“NEVER AGAIN!”
She shook, like a beating heart nestled in the machines chest, she shook with anticipation as she lashed back.
Systems around her read of words she could not read.
Indications surrounding her spoke of things she would not bother.
All the wires, all the support, all the myriads of things connected to things connected to things that made up the internal organs of her mechanical beast ceased to exist.
Nothing around her existed as false, as metal, as a shell.
It had become her skin.
Those eyes had become her eyes.
“NOW YOU FINALLY DIE!”
She let loose with a mechanical roar, every bit as loud as the changelings own.
The time for talking ended
This time, the changeling could not hold when the metal hoof lashed her other cheek. This time it was not the beast of metal who lifted, but of chitin.
The battle had only just begun.
Wings glimmering like chrome and twin streams of burning blue suddenly sprang from the smooth back, pushing the full weight of the metallic faux changeling after her flesh and blood counterpart. Both collided in the air, and they rose.
And rose, and rose, and rose, clear into the blue sky above.
The fires came in the skies above.
Unleashed from a glimmering maw, waves of pure glowing magic was poured in waves over black Chitin, casting the one who wore it across the sky. The shriek that poured with it shook the terrified ones down blow, the screech almost sounding alive from a wounded and furious creature. With the waves came fire, so much fire that spread across the previously blue skies and charred the chitin beneath it.
The howl told her that the Titan would not even be slowed.
13/??
>>
>>29825464
The power could not push her back, even in the skies above with no purchase to hold as she advanced. Inch by painful, burning inch she advanced until even through the heat and the fire the one inside the machine could see the white of her eyes.
With one strike, she ended the beam, she ended the attack, and she ended any hope the mechanical titan had of a sudden victory.
There had never been a rage like the one before the blow, there had never been a roar like the one mere instance before the resounding collision.
Miles.
She could not see them, only guess how many from the changing colors in the blur of the ground beneath her, yet somehow she still knew what was passing.
Miles and miles and miles of land, all reduced to nothing but a shapeless formless mass to pass below.
The changeling had struck her so hard that miles had been crossed, so much power distances so vast to take hours to fly had become nothing but shapes.
It had only been the beginning.
She heard that call, the intention to bring all things to death had never been clearer. There was the unspeakable rage devoid of all but the most animalistic of thoughts, there had been a desire, a throbbing desire inside of her pained chest that ached from her screams for only one thing.
Destruction.
She could see it, when the momentum finally slowed. When the air slowed her flight just enough that she could see the changeling nearing closer, she could see it in those unfeeling, sightless yet all seeing eyes. She could see only that one thought.
All that had made her a thinking, rational thing had gone.
She had reduced her to nothing but the beast.
There was only one way to match it.
With a scream, the one within the chest of a monster of her design succumbed to her own rage. With a scream, she fired back.
Far and wide, they saw the light.
14/??
>>
>>29825471
In the skies above, there was light after light, scattering of reds and powerful blows of blue. Weapons unleashed with only the power and drive to destroy had found their purpose, to kill.
The changeling accepted them all in those skies above, she took the brunt of their blasts without flinching, she opened her hooves wide, and she welcomed them.
They could not slow her down.
The clouds parted with their clash, metal hoof on chitinous one, rage on rage.
With the power burning inside every inch of it’s body, the mammoth creation could match her, blow for blow, strike for strike. A fury that rumbled above all as hoof after hoof clashed together.
When one slipped, it was not through lack of desire, only through lack of focus. One slipped to the side, it would not matter which, and both cheeks felt the full power of their fellow titan rock them.
They parted, each sent their own ways by power they could not hold back, each one sent off through the cleared sky that had once been filled with clouds, and each found their ending in the dirt down below.
Each one tore new destruction in the earth when they fell, a reshaping of the landscape that would be left for ages to come.
Neither stayed down for even a moment.
With a scream of metallic screech or animalistic roar, they ascended once again, back into the sky and back into the fray, all thoughts of strategy or careful attacks long since forgotten.
They met in the air, wrapping limbs around limbs and combining their momentum into one rocketing whole. They battered each other as they flew, wings or rockets beating or burning a trail across the sky.
The world around them was changing, and they could not spare a single thought for it.
No matter what passed below, only that above it all mattered.
15/??
>>
>>29825480
Mile and miles and miles, they passed by once more. Distances crossed so quickly they could not follow it, across a time they could no longer care for. Flickers of smooth blue, or misshapen solid brown and yellow, or even towering grey blocks all passed beneath them in droves, forgotten and completely uncared for. No matter what screams could barely be heard on the wind in their passing, their world stayed squarely on focus.
Only the other mattered, nothing else.
Biting, striking, spinning and tumbling through the air, only their battle mattered in the skies above Equestria.
Somewhere in the blows, in one of the many strikes, another bout of color mingled into it. A single flash of creation from one to another, passing between the edge of snarling fangs and just behind the snout of steel. Multicolored rainbows of magic crossed from her eyes and into the ones of flesh and blood. An unavoidable fire that brought a scream for all of Equestria to hear.
A cry of pain rang out as the already torn gaze found itself burned even more, bleeding even more from the agitation to her wound. Hooves disengaged, one swinging up to grasp and try to stifle the flow of blood coming from her eye, giving the other just the opening it needed.
Both metal hooves swung wide, at angles unnatural and impossible for any of flesh and blood. Light danced on both of them, humming with a sickly green coloration, and with a snap both came together on each side of the changelings head.
The resounding shake stunned even the Titan’s unmovable desire, and left her vulnerable when the chest panel so close to her own armored one opened wide and unleashed a torrent of power that cast her into the sky.
In the blue above, there was red.
For a moment, there was silence.
With a roar, the battle resumed.
Across the sky they soared.
16/??
Two mammoth shapes beyond the size most could comprehend, sailing through the air with movements too swift and too graceful for their size. Behind the Titan of metal and shining skin flew the roaring monstrosity at her tail, fangs bared beneath white pupils that would never leave that shining back.
The moment she neared that chitinous hoof lashed out, aiming squarely for the unguarded back between the buzzing and burning wings of her shimmering for. She cried out, not in pain but rage when the head of the machine suddenly spun, becoming a blur too quick to follow and spinning like a top on her neck, emitting a colorful rainbow that seared that black hoof and rebuked it, sending it away.
She would not be denied.
With wild abandon only fueling her, she lashed out again and again against the shield, dampening it, shaking it and the one inside. Little by little, she prepared to break inside and tear her apart.
The full weight of the machine came to a dead stop, all momentum locked in unnaturally and seemingly impossibly on a single bit. The same could not be done for the changeling Queen, not before her passage overhead of the doppelganger could be halted by a gleaming hoof that uppercut right into her midsection and sent her soaring once more.
She vanished into the distance, a breathless black dot that could not find purchase no matter hard she beat her wings to stifle her ascent. A wild and gasping screech of rage left her, mere seconds before something quite different returned to her.
The hoof cocked back on the machine rocketing towards her let out a massive hiss, red lights dancing around it in perfect circles that wrapped coiled around every inch. When it lashed out again, too fast for the changeling to match, a sonic pulse let out a spherical burst in every conceivable direction in it’s wake, scattering the clouds as surely as it sent away the changeling off into the distance once more.
The mountain in her path never stood a chance.
Neither participants cared how long that pillar of rock and stone must have stood, how many centuries it must have been for it to be formed as it was, neither spared even a single thought when it was broken apart, and leveled to the barren dusty below.
Neither held any thoughts either for the oddness that they would stand above dust at this point either. The roar, from the chest of metal or chitin, drowned out all but the singular ideal of the battle that would be the end of them.
The charge of the metal titan never slowed, unlike her flesh and blood twin. It continued on with new hoof outstretched, new charges hungering for the softer flesh beneath the blackened plating, new thoughts of victory in it’s heart.
No thoughts to the changelings movements, before it was too late.
With a terrifying roar of madness both forelegs smashed downwards, sinking deep within the earth before her down the bend of her joints. Before a single course could be altered, the machine was rocked with the full force of the entire shelf of stone and earth ripped up from the ground and slammed right into her path. The plating rattled and rumbled as it tore through all the same, unable to fully be stopped by the wall no matter how thick.
The hoof waiting for it offered another story entirely.
Through the dirt and through the stone it traveled, until it laid on the metal cheek a blow powerful enough to scatter all that had surrounded it and send it to the four winds when the machine was aimed right a the earth. With a resounding smack the metal body crated the earth beneath it, sinking down deep enough that even it’s massive side no longer was level with the landscape above.
Still blind with rage, the changeling swung low, blowing apart both the rim surrounding it and blowing apart all the outcroppings of rocks and landscape that waited in the path of the flying machine.
Just as it had in the skies above, magic surrounded it and all rockets fired, bringing it to a sudden stop mid bounce above the dusty plains. Even that magic, and the full force of those jets, could not stop it when the next blow came with the garbled cry of war.
There was little strategy to her blows as each one battered the metal chest, little thought but to lift it up into the air and off the ground with a flurry of punches, each more powerful than the last.
Her fury consumed her, she drank deeply of it’s rage, all thoughts pushed aside for the singular ideal of breaking into the chest of the one beneath her hooves and ripping her free before devouring her like a still beating heart. She offered no escape, no way to slip free and go for freedom.
The machine needed none.
Instead of fleeing, it closed the distance between each strike, pressing it’s chest to the changelings own and locking tightly both limbs around her sides. All jets fired with the full power they were capable of, lifting off her and the wailing and struggling changeling before her might could overtake the metal holding it tightly.
Through mountains remains, through outcroppings, through all in their path the changeling was battered, and then with one obscene burst of power they rose. Back up into the sky, they flew, through the air they flew at speeds that put all of their others to shame. Through the land and through the sky, they streaked.
It came to a sudden and violent stop when all rockets fired in the opposite direction. A sudden stop for the machine that was softened by the jets firing off in different directions spread even on her back.
The stop was nothing of the sort for the changeling, who’s only means of ceasing her momentum was the metal hoof dug down into her stomach.
Bile poured out of her mouth, pushed free by the violent hoof, before another dance of magic and another sonic burst glowed in her chest.
19/??
It fired off, useless, when the changeling danced away from it, and swung her hoof right into the metal skull.
She did not let the machine crash this time.
She chased her down mid flight, still in shock, and struck her again.
And again, and again, never letting her feel the stillness of resting without motion, never letting her gain her bearings.
She pushed her on, and on, and on, until it all went black.
It came as equal shock to both that it was not either of their making.
So wrapped up, moving so quickly, they hadn’t even noticed. They didn’t see the dark clouds before it was too late, and they found themselves buried in the dancing lightning bolts all around and a storm so massive it put either of them to shame.
It did not even slow them down.
With her bearings back, the metal Titan resumed her attack. With her rage still clouding her deeper than the storm around ever could, the changeling charged back. Flashed of lightning illuminated them as they clashed.
The Queen’s hoof clashing against the shimmering side.
The shining hoof digging deep into her chest.
Flashes of green that covered silver frames.
Colors so magical pouring across the shadow above.
High above in that storm, there was a single blip, a single flash of red and a screech of steel torn and shredded, a wail of something being destroyed beyond repair.
Then there was a boom. The sound of flight, the rolling of that twisting massive storm as something flew through it across the entirety of it’s massive size. Above the lightning, above the loudest thunder, there was a roar.
Down with the rain, they fell.
Two shapes, still battling, rocketing towards the earth at speeds too fast to catch in the span of a single blink before they met the earth.
The cloud of sand and water rose upwards when it landed, the blast rocking the nearby edge of trees flat with a force more powerful than any bomb that had ever gone off on the Equestrian land.
In the center, a crater so massive that a dozen of either beast could fit inside it comfortably, the thick cloud of dust and smoke covered the land as rain poured down over it.
When it parted, it was by the massive metal horn that pierced the top of it’s full height.
Then, above all sense, it grew.
Grew, and grew, and grew, until it would easily have been able to stand above Canterlot Castle, and place it’s hoof on the tip. So massive it could only barely fit in the crater they had created with their attack. So massive, every strike of lightning on it’s metal horn was but a pinprick, easily lost. It’s massive frame held dents, scratches, bends, but not a single plate of it’s unbreakable armor had shattered, not a single part had broken, it was waiting for more.
The screech of metal resounded through the storm, calling for more.
That call was answered.
Up with her, green flames burning away even the thickest of rain that attempted to stifle it, the Changeling Queen truly became a Titan above all as she reached up to match the full height of her opponent. With a deep resounding roar every bit filled with madness and anger that had come before it, the battle was met.
At this size, their movements seemed slow, almost painfully so, when they lashed out with their hooves.
What they lacked in speed, they more than made up for in sheer power.
Sonic waves scattered the rain when the Titan’s hoof landed square on the metal chest, the impact enough to shove aside anything by the heaviest that would stand in it’s way.
The new fall of rain had no chance to reach the ground before another hoof met chitin, the blast more powerful than any missile her armory had every fired. Ripples flowed down the massive wall of black, visible for all to see in their wake on the broad hide, yet it could not bring her low.
Neither would fall.
They both stumbled as they walked, smashing each other with the full brunt of their power, never enough to break them or slow them down with such height and magnitude behind each blow. They wobbled, pushed, grappled and slammed shoulders into one another over and over, each massive step crossing hundreds of meters in a single bound, yet never escaping the storm.
Crashing water filled their ears among the mayhem and world shattering sounds of battle, deep splashes so far and wide it could only mean one thing.
When their next steps finally crossed, they felt their hooves sink into the sand of a shoreline, with waves lapping against them from the sea.
Neither one cared for it, and continued on.
With a scream of rage from the mare in it’s chest, the Titan Machine swung once more, aiming straight for the chest of the Queen who so resembled her.
It never touched her.
Green flames had wrapped around her, and brought her down to her previous Titanic size. For a brief moment, the mare thought the changeling weakened, at the end of her battle.
She found her denial beneath a flurry of blows aiming right at her head.
So massive, so cumbersome, she couldn’t keep up with the mixture of speed and raw power that battered against her from every conceivable angle. Every time she looked away, every time the changeling was within her metal grasp, she slipped free and rained more of those all powerful blows on her.
When she darted around to the machines exposed back, the Titan let loose a roar to call for death itself as she gathered her might, and dove forwards with reckless abandon.
Had her mind been sane, she might’ve expected the result of the machine vanishing beneath a wall of her own green flames, and nothing but air to stop her before she landed hard against the sand.
This time, it was her back she had foolishly exposed to her opponent in her haste and lust for the end.
The cold eyes of metal were even less forgiving, and held less mercy.
Black ears twitched when she heard the crackle, yet it was not a bolt of lightning that struck her.
She screamed, truly screamed in pain when she felt a burning lash on the back of her neck. Something sharp, burning with magic, so very hot had carved out her neck armor and sunken straight through into the chitin below. Had her neck not been made of chitin far more durable than any metal she could have used for armor, it was certain it would have cloven straight through to her spine, and then her taken her head.
As it was, her head stayed on her shoulders, but that blade did not. She jerked forwards, forcing the new protrusion shifted out from the foreleg of her opponent into the dirt below, before she flipped the entire weight of the machine over her and prone in her path.
On her back, lying beneath her, the machine almost looked vulnerable.
That should have been the only warning she needed to tell her it was anything but. Instead, the chest beam that had been fully charged before the movement had even began would have to suffice.
Another scream of pain rang out through the storm as her face took the full brunt of the hit, casting her back and sending her rolling along the sand until she came to a painful shuddering stop.
For the first time since the battle began, she lied there.
For the first time, she felt the fatigue, the aching in her limbs, the strain it took just to keep breathing, keep moving.
For the first time, she noticed how the machine had remained standing, remained powerful, had not broken despite her full power against it.
For the first time, somewhere in the blinding rage, the ending of the fight was made clear.
For the first time, she let her chin hit the ground for a moment, just a moment, and it happened.
She could see her.
As clear as the rain that poured on her head and the feeling of blood on her wounds, the changeling could see her.
The face of the one who stood on the flattened sand mere steps away could be no other, could have been no other creature in all of creation but one.
There in the rain was a face she would never forget, one that would stay with her no matter how old it may grow. The face she had looked upon on the day of her birth, and felt nothing but love.
The face before her could be nothing else save the one of her child.
What little mind remained knew the sound of her voice unlike any other, even as the one before her spoke nothing at all as her lips moved, no matter what hate and rage would fill it, she would never forget the sweet sound of the one she treasured above all others.
She knew it, she knew the little one before her, without doubt in her heart.
That same sliver of sanity in her rage stricken mind also knew, without doubt, that the figure before her could not be.
It was not flesh and blood that stood before her, but an illusion of her mind. So detailed, so very real that it was only the feeling of knowing she was not near, the tickle in her mind that heard the voice call to her from so very far away that kept her from fearing the one most precious to her would be caught in the battle.
The one who stood before her lived only in her mind.
Yet her desperation etched on her face felt so very real.
Her precious child screamed without sound, cried, begged, pleaded to her without a word, tears so thick no rain could hide them. Her child feared, well and truly feared.
“…My daughter…”
She smiled back.
As the rain poured around her, she smiled back.
“I...”
It brought tears to the face she had sworn to protect for all time from sadness.
She had failed yet again.
“…I’m sorry…”
It would be the last time she ever failed.
“I’m sorry… I was not there to see you grow. I’m sorry I missed so much… so much. There was so much I should have taught you. So much I couldn’t… because I was foolish, and I made a mistake. If I could have one wish… one moment… I would take it all back. Take back that one mistake I’ve never stopped regretting… just to see you grow… I cannot. I cannot take it back, I cannot gain back what was lost before, and lost again. I cannot change what happened… or what will happen.”
Those beautiful eyes grew wide as her breath grew short.
That smile never wavered.
“I understand now, after all this time. Why you rejected my heart, why you would not take my gift. I understand the burden you did not wish to see with your own eyes. I thought your fear was weakness, was your lack of strength… I was wrong. I understand now what burden you would no bear, and your rejection that made you strong. For this I ask you… grow old, as you always wished to. Grow old, live long, and meet your end with pride, as you wanted. I was wrong to try to take that from you, to force the life I had onto you for your birth, and nothing else. Go, live a life that gives you pride…If you hold but two memories of me, let them be this.”
When she shifted, it all broke loose.
Whatever composure still held on that tiny, precious face had broken away.
“Know, my daughter, that I love you, I have always loved you… and I will love you until my last moments. I sought a world that I could make different before, a world I wanted to change to my wishes, my plans changed over time, but I never stopped loving you. Even when I thought you gone forever… I loved you, and I cherished you. You are my one child, and if I’d given life to a thousand more before this day, you would always be the one I loved.”
No fatigue, no pain, no wounds, no fear no matter how strong, could hold her down.
Nothing could hold back the Titan, as she rose.
“For your other memory, should you choose to keep it, I give you the only final lesson I can teach you, the one to make up for all I missed before, no matter how little it means now. This one final lesson, let me teach you… when that final blow comes, when that last moment of light in your life comes and the last breath lies inside you… however it may come, of age, of sickness or of blade, know this… do not fear death, do not let the end of all things hold you back from the life you wish. Do not fear it, when the specter of the end comes. No…”
Nothing could stop her as the world around her faded, and the cruel reality of an uncaring, cold metal gaze returned to her sight.
“On that day, make that specter fear the day it has to come and take you.”
If her words had been heard, she did not know. If anything except her mind could have possibly heard it, she did not know.
“Make it regret the moment it chose to come for you.”
All she knew was that her hooves had raised and the final round had begun.
“When it comes… give it the greatest fight in all eternity.”
The machine was the first to strike, a powerful blow across her cheek.
The Queen was second, but no less powerful.
With a roar, metallic and natural, it all broke loose. All thoughts, all plans, all ideals great and small, everything that had lead to this moment fell away.
They gave their all.
A flurry of punches, the most raw and simple of their attacks was unleashed. Invisible hits who’s only evidence they had ever been was the dents or bruise or indent in the body they left behind.
They wailed with anger, they wailed with hate, to the world they roared
They roared with all they had, all they had been, all they would ever be, they gave everything.
The end came not from skill, not from power, not from desire, but the least expected of sources.
A single slip.
26/??
>>
>>29825580
A single mistake in an otherwise perfect stance, a single slip in a perfectly aimed blow, a single slip of her weight shifted just wrong, that was all it had taken. One slip had decided the battle.
One slip, and Chitania, Queen Titan, flew backwards into the sea.
One slip had all that had been needed for the final punch to be struck, and cast her so deeply behind the line in the sand that it reached well above her titanic knees when she rose.
The Queen stood back up, water pouring from her face and her mane, that rage still burning in her eyes. At her tallest, she gave the machine before her one last glare of utter hatred.
Yet she did not move forwards.
She could not.
Through the eyes of a machine that had become one with her own, the one inside the machine could see it. Any, had they been around, could have seen it.
The Titan had exhausted everything.
She had truly, truly, given her all, given her everything, given her greatest strength, and she had fought with all her truest might.
Now, it had run dry.
All that had given her that unbelievable power, all that had given her that unspeakable might, had been burned away by the rage still smoldering in that glare.
At long last, that power had run out.
“Now…”
The one within the machine had not.
The first shot came with the beams of her eyes, and the Titan roared in pain.
The second came with the shot from her mouth, and the changeling wailed in shock.
The test had been completed.
“…die…”
It all broke loose.
On its face, in it’s chest, on it’s back, even down to the kneejoints and hooves, they opened up.
From all sides, from every corner that could be fit, it all fired loose.
27/32
>>
>>29825591
Beams from it’s mouth and chest and eyes seared the flesh off her chitin, burning the already dark skin to blackened char.
Missiles dug inside thick hide, long silver poles that protruded out from where they had landed and detonated after they’d burrowed through.
Tiny rockets shot into her armor plating with such rapid succession that the chitin had no chance to recover before it could be blasted again and again and again until it broke free.
Every single weapon, all that she had, fired.
Not a single one of them missed.
The roar of anger had turned to a wail of pain as more and more of her was shot, burned, stabbed and erupted. So much of the lifeblood shot out with every attack, so much her black skin was coated in it so thickly the waves washing against her and the rain pouring down onto her could not rid her of it.
There was no mercy, no relief to be had as the mare screamed inside of her metal holdings. There was nothing but a scream that rang through the hollow insides with such intensity it could be heard in the land beyond. She gave her all, her everything, as she poured out all she held inside onto the changeling who took every blow.
Chitin ripped off, crown blasted clear off, armor on her chest shattered and broken to bits before falling away and exposing her chest to even more deadly attacks. More pain, more of her lost, more taken as her bones were battered and the defenses she’d held in pride fell away.
When the last beam fired, when the last detonation blasted free a piece of the once mighty shoulder, when the last rocket burned off a chunk of her hair as it collided with her head, there was silence.
No more sounds of rage coming from the changeling.
No more calls of defiance or shrieks of pain and agony.
Nothing but the sound of steam and smoke rising from her battered hide, nothing but a blank stare that looked off into the distance to see nothing at all, nothing but a groan of limbs when they finally gave way.
OH NO YOU DON'T
>>29825601
With eyes that could barely believe what they saw, a mind that could not comprehend what was happening, the earth pony mare who had once been so weak watched with utter shock as the impossible happened.
She watched as the once mighty, once all powerful Titan Queen of the Changelings, fell.
Down straight into the ocean so discolored from all the blood that had poured into it that it no longer resembled the calm blue it had been at the start of the battle. Down straight into the depths of the water as fire defied natures logic to drag over her even as she sank into the depths.
The one who had stood so tall, so powerful, had become so small before her eyes. She had become like the insect she had so called others at her prime. So small, so very tiny to the one inside the machine, as she fell into the waves and vanished.
One hundred and twenty seconds.
The mare left standing counted for exactly one hundred and twenty seconds as she looked into the ocean before her. One hundred and twenty seconds, two minutes, watching for any head that would come above water, watching for any sign she would attempt to crawl back onto the shore, watching for any sign she had defied death once more, defied fate that was to be hers.
A changeling could not swim.
She counted to one hundred and twenty seconds, just to make sure that the one down beneath had drowned.
One hundred and twenty seconds, and then she went silent.
“…Ha.”
Deathly silent, before she opened fire once again.
“Ahahahah…”
She fired with her beams and her missiles and her guns at that spot where the changeling had sunken in, she fired with anything she still had inside that metal casing.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA!”
She fired, and she screamed in laughter with joy she had never felt in all her long life.
“I BEAT YOU! I BEAT YOUUUUU! I FINALLY DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT!”
29/31
>>
>>29825615
She laughed and wailed so hard it hurt, her chest feeling as if it would explode at any moment, yet she continued on.
“I WOOOONNNN! AHAHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAH!”
For as long as she could, with as much power as she could, she fired her weapons.
Fired, and blasted, and shot.
Until at last, she had no more to give. Nothing left to pour into the abused section of sea. Nothing left to give to the broken waters.
Nothing left to do but laugh until she could laugh no more.
“AHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH! AHAHHAhhhhhh…ahahaahah…haahahah…”
Until she had nothing left to give.
“…everyone..”
Her voice croaked from the raw pain still remaining in it, her dry lips cracking as she desperately sucked in breath back into her chest.
“Everyone…I did it…”
Her hooves reached up, and took the helmet from her chest.
“…I won…”
Far beyond the machine and the last sight of the spot that had once held the changeling Queen, far beyond the battle they’d fought and far beyond where it had ended, there was a sound.
Back at the start of it all, off in the side of the ruined city where all the war had begun, back at the very beginning where it had all gone so wrong, and right, there had been a sound.
Gathered in a crowd around the drop ship, the one that had carried the A-team on their mission of ill and of good, next to the one who had carried them to the beginning of their trials, there had been a sound.
“SHE DID IT!”
A cheer.
“WE WON!”
A single cheer following the image magically shown to all the world as best Fawntains lagging advancements could show, a single call that infected, spread, grew through the ones who had abandoned the mech in it’s darkest hour and fled. A wild joyous that felt so good inside as it did outside to see the monster fall and be defeated. A feeling unlike any other as one they whooped, they laughed, and they hugged in relief and in pure unrestrained joy.
30/31
>>
>>29825618
It was over, came the unspoken words amidst the happy cheers.
It was finally, finally over.
Those words unsaid reached the ears of six very unique individuals. Those who had fought, who had lost, who had bled and who had battled in the ruined landscape behind them. The ones who had been battered, beaten and broken.
Those six lowered down, away from the celebrating group before them. Wings that had seemed so strong at the start gave way, resulting in all six plopping down in an undignified fall for the last few inches that remained.
There on that ground all six sat down, together again for the very first time since they had separated. When all things seemed so calm, when so many things were left unsaid.
The A-team, the force for good in Equestia sat there, close to each other, leaning on those at their side for support of bodied who could handle little more at this time. All six, as one, stared straight ahead, to the same empty spot in the horizon. All six, completely silent.
They had won, those were the words inside of the cheers of the ponies not too far away.
They had stopped the villain, ended her dastardly plan, defeated her minions, destroyed her hideout, and now they had slain the final boss standing at the end of the line.
They had done it, Equestria had been saved from the plans of Sunset Shimmer and Queen Chitania at last.
They were heroes, just as they said they would be. They had done all they promised, and now at last the scourge of evil had been wiped from the face of the earth, just as they had planned and so many had tried. Chitania was dead, just as they had sworn.
They were heroes.
And yet, when they moved as one to look over the landscape of what had once been the bustling city, not a one of them felt like cheering.
The battle had finally ended.
“We did it, guys.”
The day had been saved.
“…we won…”
It was time to go home.
~~~~~~

Not over yet...

>Not over yet...
Of course it ain't...
>>
~~~~~~
Far from the cheers, the celebrations, miles away from those who called with joy at the sound of their grandest foe laid low, there was another sound.
The sound of rain dripping down on soft waters as they lapped on a shore, smoothly flowing in and out without pause and without disturbance. Gentle, cool waters to roll along the warm sand before retreating and leaving no trace they had ever been, even their wet stain masked by the water pouring from the clouds up above. These waters, so very far away from the cheers, held no stake in the battle that had unfolded, and the ending of the one who had fought within their depths. They rolled along in peace, and without sound.
Until both were suddenly disturbed by a splash, and a gasp.
The smooth and pristine sand found itself rent and scarred as a black hook came down. The curve of a long limb digging deep into it’s surface before curling inwards with a scraping shift of the sand in it’s wake.
That same limb rose up and laboriously came down with the aid of gravity, digging in deep once more to pull along the massive hide attached to it.
The one behind it all gasped and choked as she crested the waters, gently pushed forwards by the next wave that rolled onto the shore, as if pushed away by one who wished her bleeding and broken remains out of it’s pristine and cool waters.
Deep inhales of air came when she was far away could breath it without fear of more water going in, mixed in with the odd hiss of pain as open wounds were subjected to the rough feelings of sand digging inside. Foggy, barely seeing eyes remained unfocused and wincing with every painful drop of water that fell on her and the wounds she had suffered.
“Y-you were right…”
Her cracked and raw throat rasped when she spoke. It pained her to breath at all, to speak was agony, but some part of her felt compelled. She had to say the words out loud, let them be heard if only by themselves.
“Gyrinidae… you were right…”
1/3
>>
>>29825643
The laugh that came from her hurt, truly pained her to do, she did it all the same.
“It… it wasn’t useless… I’m sorry… y-you hear that… I’m…”
She couldn’t finish the next words before her lungs would not let her anymore.
“Guess… we… should have tried…before…”
Her gaze trailed off into the distance, looking for something beyond the physical, something she could not yet see.
“I guess… I have to tell you someday… when I…”
A pain came back.
This time, not one of her body.
“…They’re all gone.”
This time, it was much deeper inside.
“They’re all gone again…”
This time, she didn’t bother to fight back the pain.
“…I have to… start all over again…”
This time, she was content to lie there, the rain on her back and neck and the waves lapping at her hind legs as they dangled uselessly behind her.
“It…”
She was content to keep her cheek to the sand, watching the rain fall all around, for what felt an eternity.
“…It happened again… I lost them all… again…”
Seeing their shapes, their faces etched in the shapeless sand before her. Looking at her, watching her, before the water from above hit it and washed them all away, leaving the sand smooth once more.
"I was so close this time... so close... and it's all gone... I tried... they stopped me...they beat me again... I lost... I lost them all..."
They did not return.
“…I’m still here…”
Even she wasn’t sure what those words meant anymore. Whatever feeling was in it was lost in the mixture of pain, regret, and loss.
For a long time, she was content to just lie there and wonder. Wonder what would happen if she were to remain. Wonder what would it mean if she were to join the Hivemind at long last. Wonder what it would mean if she simply gave up, and let them have the victory they so desperately desired.
For a long time she wondered if she should just slip back into the sea, let it take her home.
2/3
>>
>>29825654
For a long time, she was content to look for the faces of those gone in the shapes in the sand. For a long time, she waited, and dreamed.
“…I have to keep going…”
She woke up with a painful movement, and her foreleg digging back into the ground.
“’I’m not dead.”
The dream had ended when she pulled herself across the sand in painful, short movements.
“I’m not done.”
With fire in her eyes, a pain in her chest, she pulled herself away from the shore.
“You gave it your best shot, didn’t you?”
Above her, lightning split the sky.
“It wasn’t enough.”
The rumble that came after shook her, but she would not be stopped.
“You can’t stop me.”
The rain poured down harder, thick waves rolling alongside her and pushing back towards the sea, but she would not flow with it.
“I’m still coming for you.”
She finally found the strength to lift her head and look straight forwards. Jungle, thick as it was dark and filled with shadows, awaited her at the edge of the sand.
“I’ll find a way.”
The wins pushed her, rolling sand over her form, but she would not be buried.
“Not today. but someday… I’m coming for you.”
With one final pull, she crossed the barrier, and her hoof sank deeply into fresh dirt.
“…And nothing will stop me.”
She pulled herself from the rain.
It was not over yet.
“I will tear you from-“
Her heart stopped at the sudden voice coming from inside of the depths of the jungle, and her whole world came crashing down all over again.
“WHERE IN TARNATION EVEN ARE WE!?”
It struck her that her pain had only just begun.
“…bring it on…”
Okay, first off, stop posting when he's posting a story. It's very rude and breaks the flow for the reader.
Second-
>Chitania is dead deeeead no wait that was a decoy or something
It took me two seconds to look in the google-docs, but apparently Gyrinidae was the "Rocket underwater" changeling Queen who drowned from back in thread 22. Apparnetly her thing did work, and "I know all the changelings moves because they wanted in my nopants" tried it out while everyone thought she couldn't swim.
Because apparently this guy thinks continuity is a contact sport!
Did they zoom right past them and then kablammo into the ground?
Did they slam into Chitania; that one can't be right...
Were they at a different beach when Chitania scrabbled up the beach and heard AJ?
Did they blast themselves away from Pennydrop?
They were crossing a whole lot of distance when they flew past. And then they walked a whole lot further when they were in the mega titan mode. It seems like AJ is literally a couple miles away from where PD is.
They were close by during the end, but not so close they could see what was happening. Especially not in the storm. It's very clever plotting.
That was by far my favorite part, but I disagree with your interpretation of that scene. To me, it looked like an act of desperation, she had literally lost everything else in her life, and she needed this one last thing. The one girl she always had, to fight gods, she needed that final battle to finally make some sense of her life, she wasn't going to die to it, not willingly, this was her one last chance to fight some piece of the being that she so wanted to fight. That was a heartbreaking seeing when she had exactly one thing left, that final battle she always dreamed of, and then someone took it from her.
>>
>>29825825
>From what I got, she was gonna... magic it up for some reason
No?
She slammed her hooves intot he ground until the hidden paths underneath the city were exposed to let it free. There was literally NO indication what-so-ever of her using her magic. Just her smashign the ground and waiting for it to coem forth, then looking devastated when it didn't.
>The sound of flight, the rolling of that twisting massive storm as something flew through it across the entirety of it’s massive size.
>The cloud of sand and water rose upwards when it landed, the blast rocking the nearby edge of trees
>NEARBY EDGE of trees
It was the edge of that jungle, presumably Chitty rocket-Swam further down the line to an unexploded part. She had to go pretty far to escape PD.
>And from those trees we get AJ going "what the shit, dawg"
Because that's where she crashed?
Why is your tree cluster a circle that's not how shore-lines work.
>>
>>29826058
Try a straight line. Through the ocean. Onto an island or something similiar. He described lush jungle, plus, Gyrinidae's speed of udnerwater propulsion makes is feasible?
>>
>>29826138
So NOT on the same landmass then
Huh, that'd make sense
So then how far away would she be from Pennydrop?
>>
>>29826146
Chitty wouldn't stop until she was clear. So 4+miles for sure
>>
>>29826146
That's difficult to gauge. But let's take the fastest, recorded underwater speed recorded from wikipedia and let's assume The Underwater Rocket technique was SUPER FUCKIGN FAST.
The fastest known underwater speed was an underwater anti-torpedo missile named Barracuda that allegedly reaches 800 km/h, from Germany.
Pennydrop waited one-hundred and twenty second for Chitty to surface, and it didn't happen anywhere inher line of sight atop a gigantic, multi-story mecha.
Now do the math, because I suck at it.
>>
>>29826164
800 / 60 / 60 = 2880000kms-1
So she, at that speed, would've crossed 345600000km
the fuck
i can take the fight scenes alright but that distance is just too much
>>
>>29826188
She COULD have swam that distance. Could have. But even if she jsut went quarter that speed, she'd be way off. Plus, the Airship broke apart mid-air. it could've fallen in a hundred mile radius fromt he beach Pennydrop is standing at, no?
>>
>>29825665
160 threads in the making, they go all out.
It's glorious.
>>
>>29826188
Umm... I think you multiplied instead of divided there. 2880000kms-1 is literally faster than light. It should be 800 / 60 / 60 = 0.222kms-1
0.222 kms-1 * 120s = 26.666km.
Which is far more reasonable.
Now, if that's the end of it, I doubt. So long as Chitty is alive, that portal isn't out of the game yet.
>>
>Celestia
"Luna"
It didn't take long for the two Alicorns to see something had gone horribly, horribly amiss
As they flew, the distant sound of magnificent blasts and cracks, some titanic force struck again and again, they whipped their heads to the sounds, but it dissapeared, reapeared and changed places over and over.
They couldn't keep track of it
All they could do was keep following their original path
>...No...
And when they saw the clouds of dust, the mounds of earth torn from it's home and scattered about from great craters...
"How could..."
Great, ugly cracks in stone scarring cliff facs and mountain ranges...
>What in Equestria...
The two Alicorns felt a horrendous sense of loss unlike any other.
A valley, once lush with forestry was ripped and torn apart, boulders the size of houses tumbled onto glades. Trees were flattened around so many pock mark impact craters, distant, distressed birdsong filled their ears as the animal kingdom reeled from habitat and home being bent and battered.
Flight carried onward, and the sisters' heart sank as another sign of destruction passed them by.
A river, once flowing gently down a hillside into a tributary, was sloughed with a great skid mark that peaked at the hilltop, sundered the banks and coloured the water a dark, murky brown there onwards, distilled soil, rock, sand, bark and plant clumping into corners of the river's bends.
"This cannot be real..."
A lake, once clear and pristine in it's forest was almost devoid of water, water that flooded the banks, covering the surrounding land; trees and bush uprooted and flattened, in ugly, unnatural marshy mulch. Two great craters prominent in the lake bed, the scattered remains of aquatic plant and fish life barely visible as it writhed and silently died,
>So much...
1/??
>>
>>29826783
A long grassy plain stretched out before them, and there they saw so many fires.
Around yet another massive crater were scores of flames burning away at the tall grasses, the smoke tinged with something acrid and unnatural as it rose into the air and clouded their nostrils.
A dark, smoking line careened it's way across the plain as well, the grass not even burnt, already turned to ash, the soil grey and cracked, the grass that was not turned to ash, was blackened and dead.
They could not bear the sight, and Celestia swooped down, depserate magic calling to her horn, Luna following after
Domes of gold and blue surrounded the flames, and held there as the flames burned desperately at the grasses.
The two sister touched down in the field, and refused to move until they saw and felt the flames pass. Magic was released and dark, vile pufts of smoke rose into the air with taunting finality.
A dread silence filled them, the wind howled balefully, they quietly steeled themselves, fearing that the howl
was returning... but it was only their imagination.
A distant rumbling came next, and the alicorns turned to see it...
They could not, a mound of grey, dust filled the horizon.
They took to the skies and flew up, up and up.
Then they saw something beyond their imagination.
Equestria was full of mountains, some named, some famed, most left alone.
This was a mountain that jutted produly out amongst others in it's own range. In it's slopes, trees of different hardy types clung to the steep edges, and less forboding types covered the shallow slopes.
It was all gone. Through the blinding, choking miasma of endless dust, they saw a mountain that was no longer there.
2/?
>>29826784
I never wanted her to be stopped, alomst purely out of constant "what's it gonna do what's it gonna dooooooo"
I wanted the big red button to be pushed, and the story would go and conclude from there, the big finale, the last push, all that good stuff
>>
>>29826790
Heaps of rock, larger than life itself were scattered around, the forest below had been buried in an avalanche unlike anything anypony had ever witnessed. rubble and stone, ancient and untouched crumbled against fellow mountain ranges, filling the nadirs of it';s surrounding mountains till not one was not laced with jagged edges.
The dust spread even as they gawked, even as they heard a dark rumble as rocks from the mountain that was not there dislodged further, some from what remained of the peak falling to those below, some tumbling and crashing across the shallow green forest below even further.
They flapped there, wtaching the scene slowly register, even as the dust spread about them, drifitng down further, farther into the wild below them.
>Chitania...
"It must be, no one else could even hope to cause this"
Luna looked to her sister, and saw tears flowing freely down her face, glistening drops falling from her chin into the wounded land below.
"...We have to defeat her, sister, we.."
Her voice cracked, unsure, nothing they had ever seen the Titan do matched such a long breadth of destruction. Oh what miracle it
was that nothing living... or at least sentient lay in it's path...
...That they knew of
>Luna... I'm scared
She couldn't answer, her eyes welling up as well, and she struggled to focus on what precise sadness caused it
>..How...How can Equestria live like this?
It was a question neither of them could answer, neither of them could hope to answer
They looked across Equestria, battered, bruised, callously changed in the wake of... something.
And all the while, Celestia's gaze fixed onto something almost imperceptible in the distance.
Smoke rising
Not dust, not grass or tree burning.
Fire.
Not once did Celestia look away as she once more took off, Luna adamnatly following.
That horrible mental maelstrom had not once been heard again since they left Canterlot.
It did nothing to alleviate them of constant, constant dread.
Everyone is appreciated.
However, an idea given about them being on an island has... merit.
Something a bit more rethorical, but since you established a bit lot of Sunset's development up until her death...
How would you put the relationship between Sunset and Chitania in words? To you, and us who may want to write about it post-factum, what were they and what weren't they to one-another? And where did Sweet Note, Flash and Fizzle factor in?
>>
>>29828024
Samurai Jack wasn't on yet, what was I supposed to do!?
>>29828044
Well, that's a tough question to ask.
The short answer, and frankly the unsatisfying one, is that "It wasn't her time yet." The longer answer is that when I started this arc, I had a lot of ideas in my head, but no matter what angle I looked at it, one thing kept coming up with me, and it's the whole reason that while I bent and very nearly broke down when people kept saying how much they wanted her in, especially after the picture, I held on and stayed course, for one simple reason, her story matters.
Applejack wouldn't learn anything here.
There is no past mistake that Applejack would suddenly discover here, she knows what she did wrong with Sunset, she knows she should have been a friend for her, if she just went in now, nothing would really change. Stop Sunset, take her home, character remains the same. No preconceived notions of good or evil are challenged, no ideals rocked, Sunset obviously has to be stopped, Chitania obviously has to be defeated, and that's that. The closest thing that I could find to meaningful pieces of Appuls puzzle was the question of lethal force, but this was exactly the wrong story for that. Even if her wanting to be non-lethal had been a trait, and it hasn't been referenced before now, it would remain steadfast with Sunset, and never change. To imply otherwise would imply Applejack was willing to kill out of her own mistake rather than fix, which regresses her character, not advances it. She would never grow.
After I realized that, I realized something else entirely.
Now, the entire purpose of this arc, when it solidified, was "The one everyone missed." The grand, earth shattering event that unfolded and lives in the balance and it's so huge and big and so on, but everyone missed it. Not a single main character knew.
1/3
>>
>>29828200
Why? To explore the notion that there are grander things than just what our characters see. Big things can happen, the world doesn't revolve around them, they can miss the biggest event in the world completely. This was the event that showed if a villain was smart, the real heroes would never see it, they would never know. Villains don't go out and declare it, and sometimes things slip past.
This was the A-team, last line of defense in the world, because of pure chance. They took the world in their own hands, and took charge. Everything came down to them and Pennydrop, and they had to make their own calls. Good or bad, lethal or non, they made their own choices, and things got brutal because of it. This was the drop down no holds barred battle that everyone left behind.
After that, I knew exactly what AJ NEEDED, what she had to examine as a character.
Justice.
We have never really examined this part of her, though it's been a key part of her character since thread 1, when Chrysalis showed up.
What is Justice to Applejack? What does she think is deserved, when push comes to shove? What is the cost for safety she will pay? What is punishment worth to her? This arc examined that from one side, but we never quite got the idea of where her justice would lie when the chips all fell down. When it was all said and done, what it really meant to her.
We've never really looked into it, so when I was forming the very basis of this arc, I realized "This has to end with a scenario where Applejack will be faced with that question. This, as big as it gets, whatever changes I make, it is leading to the idea AJ will be challenged with a question before her that has no easy answer, against ones who will challenge it from all sides, and give perspective." From story one, rather from the moment AUJ hit the scene and I knew that I would have the perfect devil who slayed the angel on her shoulder, that was the goal I was working for.
2/3
>>
>>29828215
A way to deliver that story in a natural, organic and most of all entertaining way that would lead to that end goal. Up to you if that was what I managed.
During Apple-Crazy, it was about "What does it mean to rule?" During Breakup, it was "What should love mean?" and with this it's simply "What is justice?"
Chitania, and more importantly AUJ is going to challenge those notions.
...aaasssuming you guys are okay with it.
That was another thing I wanted to ask, and now seems like a good time.
Look, I get it, I've been writing a lot, focusing in on a hard subplot, keeping characters locked off and hidden away. So, with that, I'm actually willing to put this on hold if you want a breather. If you want, I'll send AJ away, and come back to this at another time. Naturally, of course! But I understand if you're just not mentally ready for AJ to be thinking about justice and punishment and death and so on, and just want to give her a moment with Sunset's realization, or if you had your own plan I locked in place due to not being known if AJ was going to join in. I understand, and I'm sorry it took so long, it got bigger than I ever dreamed.
I'll leave that to you to decide, my /pa/ls who keep reading on. Now, or later, AJ will face that question.
She might not like what she finds.
>>
>>29828048
That is a surprisingly hard question to answer and put it in words.
I guess if had to sum it up with a phrase, I would say "Two who take turned lifting and pulling each other up a mountain, not caring if they will fall when they reach the top."
They see in each other something very special, and very unique. Each one has an aspect of themselves refined to such perfection the other can't help but be envious and admire it. Not just muscles or magic, though those parts are there, but character traits like the ability to continue on without care for others thoughts, the ability to grow and learn with the future as it comes, those sorts of things. They see that in each other, and they want to help it grow so they can live it in a way.
There's very much a more parental element of the story as well. There is some part of Chitania who wishes 13 was like this, eager to please her, willing to help her, willing to listen, and the like. There is very much a part of Sunset who looks up to Chitania and wishes her previous mentors had been like this, understanding, encouraging her to try and push the limits without fear and a willingness to protect her with their very lives should things go wrong, someone who is just there and cares for her.
There's more than that, though.
There's this deep connection of understanding about wanting to grow to new unimagined heights. They both are the kind who look up to the heavens and go "I could totally get up there, let's do it!" They understand the desperate parts of each other, and as a result they don't see the negatives in each other, because they hide that from themselves when they look inside.
1/2
>>
>>29828277
They care about each other, deeply, both realizing they'd be stranded without the other. Chitty spinning her wheels getting no further in her search, unable to comprehend a lot of the spells and tricks needed no matter how hard she tried, and Sunset thinking she would be in a world uncaring, full of those who only wished to keep her exactly as smart as they needed and nothing more, never truly loving her or wishing her safe. Both see a world that wants to put them in chains, physical or otherwise, and one who wants to break those chains with them.
Neither wanted to imagine a world where the other wasn't in it, pushing them on, lifting them up, protecting them and thinking though everything.
Simply put, they're as close as a married couple most days.
Flash, Fizzle, Sweet Note, they're family. Full stop. Flash is the collected brother who's always looking out for them, Fizzle is the bratty teen who they know needs to be watched but can someday become something truly amazing, Sweet Note is the stable and fun sister of their life that they need sometimes. They look to them as those who would die for them, and they know they need to do the same, if only for their own sake.
That's very insightful. And a bit depressing. A lot of folks expected a backstab any moment. To find out they were this painfully close hurts a bit. Like we didn't believe in them, and that's why they had to fail...
I will not lie, it will not be a totally silly journey. I will, just because I think I need some, include the occasional bit of humor in it, but for the most part, yes, the darker parts will get very dark, and there will be sides of AUJ and even AJ we've never seen before.
>A lot of folks expected a backstab any moment.
It was understandable, and very much hardwired into them. They certainly expected to be rid of the other after their sides of the bargain was fulfilled when this all began. They were just going to get what they wanted, cast them away and never see each other again.
Things changed.
Tell what? The ending or the idea?
Well I guess I'll just say both. The idea I was planning on using tomorrow was very similar, as I said. It would open on Celestia and Luna losing sight of AJ's chem trails due to one of the blasts scattering them. My reveal was going to be much slower, admittedly, with them landing on the remains of what had been the mountain and finding a traveling group of ponies who were standing there staring because they assume they've gotten lost. There would be a conversation, mostly humor, before the tone shifted when they realized the area used to be a mountain. From there it would expand into much the same territory, them finding a great deal of nearby destruction and reacting to it as only the rulers of the land could. Mine would have been a little more heavy on dialog and Celestia reminiscing about how things gradually changed and Luna feeling as if she'd come back from the moon all over again, but I genuinely liked your silent thoughts better. There would also have been Celestia going off about how long it will take to heal the places ponies need to live, if they heal at all. The traveling ponies were supposed to bea glimpse into that, with them realizing their path to their livelyhoods had been irrevocably changed, but I liked your approach better. More show less tell.
The ending, rather than them rushing off to put out a fire, would have been a more vague one of
>How do we find who caused this?
"We know, sister... we follow the calls of those who need us the most."
>I can't hear anything.
"...then we are too late."
It was going to be a lot more harrowing surveying of just how BIG the damage was between two titans, and the realization their land had been scarred without their ever knowing of it. The call had come, too late.
All in all, some characters added, some talk there, but you get the idea. My main intention was "them leaving had meaning, they didn't just come here for no reason" and I think you nailed that.
You know, back when Canterlot got smashed up the second time, I believe it was.
I was champing at the bit to write up something focusing on the ponies who lived there, those who saw their homes and livelihoods reduced to rubble. What they would do now, if they really wanted to stay and try and rebuild, if it was worth staying and possibly face a third disaster, what if their luck would eventually run out.
It kinda got weakend cos we insinuate that Canterlot is 3/4s upper-class pones who don't really care about such things. But I swore there had to be middle/working class types who were sick at the thought of losing everything bu the fur on their and their families backs.
I never got around to writing anything like that, I couldn't come up with anything.
But now I really am going to. Streets quieter than normal, houses freshly built with the aid of the wondrous Pennydrop company that stand empty, unfilled, their supposed occupants having long left the city. Old store fronts left abandoned, boarded up. Canterlot; rebuilt and resplendent, but in many clumps and sectors, empty.
The travels and trails of Canterlot ponies who left to seek their luck outside of the city, ponies settling into Ponyville, further afield, all saying the same thing
"It's not safe there"
"I've got nothing to go back to"
"I don't want to try my luck there again"
Hoofington is gonna be the test bed, depending that the citizenry are gonna be alive at... some point.
Oh man and when Celly and Lulu arrive.
FFFFfffffuck this is gonna be a tall order.
Lumber Miller cricked his back as he set out from his home, a fresh breeze strolling across the field. He had a few more trees that needed felling to fill his order, something Potmaker should be onto right now, in fact.
While there was not a tree to be cut for miles, at least none of the type that needed cutting. Lumber felt as close to the valley as he ever did when he really was standing between great oaks and pine beneath a broad canopy.
A quick rummage in his saddlebag procured onto a cool vial of liquid, it had taken him a while, but he was getting used to being whisked away to his destination as he used the infusion. It certainly beat those hour long treks to and fro his home and his cabin.
He nonchalantly broke the vial onto the ground, and closed his eyes as the sting of fire swpet over him, whisking him away to the interior of his cabin.
But he couldn't breathe, instead of the roomy wooden interior, Lumber immediately opened his eyes and yelled in pain.
His eyes stung as what felt like a thousand stones crushed into his face. Hard, jagged rocks batrtered against his back and chest, his ears deafend as gravel poured into the cavity
His hooves were all about him, sturggling to move against rock that blocked his path orempty bouts of nothingness or shifting, biting stones digging into his skin.
Lumber flailed about, and tried to scream, he was trapped, his nuzzle cracked against stone as he opened his mouth, and choked as a large stone followed by tiny pebbles lodged into his jaw, breaking off teeth.
His back felt bent at an unnatural angle, his stomach pressed in by something sharp. Everything was black, he kicked and battered against something, anything, whatever had trapped him.
1/??
>>
>>29831198
Only his forehoof could move relatively freely, his two rear hooves were either caught between unyielding rock or shifting gravel, he could barely feel the cuts as his panicked intensified. He couldn't see, his eyes already weeping something warm and his face burning in pain.
A forehoof snapped against dead air, banging uselessly against a flat rough edge. He didn't know which way was up, where he was, had his Infusion betrayed him? Why?
The scraping and scrabbling of flesh against rock and stone and pebble began to give way, a dull ringing and thudding pounded his ears, whatever choked, garbled screams of desperation he could give out through the rock fell away. He dully felt a foreleg push through something, a tinge of cold air brushed about the hoof.
Lumber weeped and choked, was this it? I'm going to die here, he thought, nothing made sense, he didn't understand.
He needed help
Someone
Anyone
...
Help
...
...
The dull roar of stone filled the weakening stallions ears, a pitter of gravel against an already buried face, something burned through his abused eyelids. Sunlight...
An ear pricked up weakly, something was growing, shrill, desperate, pleading... A voice...
Potmaker...?
Darkness split apart slowly, filling his muddled vision. A mere crack... ENOUGH!
Desperate fury filled Lumber as his body spasmed, clawed, bit, dug and grappled in the direction of the light, pain burst all around him, scraping and snapping and cracking and shuddering. He didn't pay it any mind, but when he started screaming in pain as his hooves broke through the crack; legs desperately pulling and pushing, Lumber made sure he screamed all the louder.
After one ugly yell, the battered, bloody and broke stallion heaved through the gap in the boulders. And finally broke free... Light... real sunlight.
Lumber lay there, defeated, and vomited blood, wept blood, shuddered and whimpered in pain
He was alive.
2/?
>>
>>29831240
A clatter of hooves made it to his senses, magic, warm, familiar magic crept over him. His eyes looked beyond the blackness and dullness... and saw Potmaker... Rushing towards him.
He saw Potmaker speak hurriedly to him, but he couldn't hear, all there was a thudding growing quieter, quieter still as a shrill clatter of glass touched him.
The unicorn above the stallion simply held onto him, eyes wide at the state of Lumber, if he hadn't arrived sooner...
Lumber slowly began to take stock of where he was, two cliff faces loomed in his periphery... it was the valley... but... it was different.
Another nausea filled him as he kept looking , his breath ragged, yes, this was the valley, but... the cliffs, they were scarred, blasted apart, gouged and torn.
He saw rocks, rocks that would've killed him were it not for Potmaker, scattered around the valley floor, blasted into the forest below from the cliffs and mountains above with reckless abandon.
There would be a rogue tree bark somewhere in there, or the disintegrated remains fo branches and trunk jutting out of the rock. Where the rock didn't settle, forest ground was smashed and trundled over by rolling boulders.
Lumber let his head fall into Potmakers hooves, it dully registered that his infusion hadn't betrayed him, it had brought him exactly where it did for the past 12 months.
But his cabin... his pride and joy... it was gone.
Crushed beneath rock and ruin, and he would've joined it were he not so lucky.
His ears no longer heard the dull ringing and thudding of adrenaline, they heard the distant wind, and Potmakers ragged breathing and sobbing.
Lumber croaked feebly... he tried to say something, to his old friend...
"This was my home..."
It was all he could think of
Story wise.
Remember the Griffins? The dead ones I mean? Remember how they just got thrown in casually as the end of the Arc? Nothing during the big moments, just there at the end in a blatant pandering to make it more 'real' like that suddenly made it a better story?
That's what I was worried about during the big gap between stories. There was no reason to get invested or care about this character, and then it just seems like he got killed. Whoopees, so real, so meaningful. But seeing him survive and provide an actual reaction gives contacts, and it gives meaning. It is obviously just sad for sad sake, but I respect when this characters pain being revealed wayyyyy after the finale still has a unique meaning to it, in that this event will affect their life going forward, not just something to cut it off for cheap drama.
On a quiet afternoon through a quiet forest, two pegasi trotted along a beaten path. A small winding trail of dirt across trees and brush, fallen logs covered with moss and mushrooms.
A young filly and an older stallion led the way, their back saddled with fisihing rods, rolls, bait, tackle and snacks.
The young filly hopped onto a wizened tree stump, wings buzzing as she turned to her father in excitement. The stallion following her with eoncouragement, holding her close and pointing to the crest of a hill that the path snaked up and over.
Up there was the lake the family had fished on every generation, a bond between parent and child, they never knew what started it, but they held to it, it simply was what they did.
The young filly; Tackle, hooped in excitement, she had heard about the old stories of parent and child fishing on the lake, how every tale began and ended differently, every time something new was learnt, a new bond was forged.
Her father; Thin Reel, felt his enthusiasm tempered slightly, something felt off about the forest this time, maybe it had been the years since had taken along his son down the trail, maybe he was being paranoid.
But the forest was oddly quiet this time, the birdsong of old was distant and scattered, the croak and chitter of frogs silent, crickets that would normally chirp out of sight leapt from plant to plant, hurried and out of place, agitated.
Smiling reassuringly down at his daughter, Thin Reel trotted back along the slightly damp path with Tackle in eager tow, he hadn't expected a light drizzle to cross this place before he had arrived.
They both crested the hill, and stopped dead in their tracks, this would be where the younger of the two would look in awe at the pristine lake.
1/?
>>
>>29831682
All they saw was a splattered mess of green and brown.
The treeline arced downwards till it was flattened completely, the creak of bark came from those that had not completely keeled over, their roots dangling down, like lopsided mangrove plants jutting oddly from the ground...
What ground that wasn't reduced to a dull, ugly marsh. water pooled in holes where trees had been rooted up, brush and flowers and grass pooled on the top as the water spread out of the lakes banks and sundered the shore. The sight of dead, bloated fish bobbing on the surface made the older, more composed stallion catch his breath in his mouth.
Then they saw the lake itself, or what little remained.
No wonder the once pristine water had flooded the banks and shore and trees. where the lake was, two vast craters collided together at the rim, throwing up the lakebed violently at it's edge, silt and sand scattered everywhere, stagnant pools of deep water that remained discoloured a dark, sandy brown, iwthin the rims of the craters and outside of them, fish lay dead, weeds wilted over and strands of plant matter littered the ground.
Tackle stared out at the scene of devastation before her, was this it? Was this their families tradition? Where was the glittering shore? Where was the sun dancing on the surface, the weeds sweening serenly in the depths, the song of birds and gentle clack of inquisitive crabs? The shells and molluscs, all different and exotic?
2/3
>>
>>29831691
Thin Reel was aghast, memories and stories played out in his mind, he knew this place, but now it was unrecognisable, those wonderful times he had spent with his mother and grand mother, fishing, singing, playing...
The lake, and the trips they took to it were a tradition, practically a living heirloom of their work and purpose that existed for generations.
And it had been... destroyed, blasted apart with some unnatural force. The silence of the dead lake shook him, and he struggled to hold back the tears. He could never bring such joy to his own daughter now... and her own children one day would never know it for themselves, such as the scale of the catastrophe that had scarred this beautiful place.
No more hook fishing, fly fishing, crabbing, spelunking, spear fishing, pooling, sandcastles...
The filly looked to her father, her eyes pleading for some answer, and asked him what this was, what had happened... why...
Thin Reel searched inside himself, and found nothing. He sadly looked down to Tackle and placed a gentle, concilatory hoof on her side. He tried to smile, but faltered, there was no good hiding the plain truth
He gently nudged her to the side, turning her away from the sight of the lake, and ponderously they began to walked back down the path that Thin Reel had followed on so few but such wondrous occassions.
"I'm sorry....There's nothing left here..."
Nothing more could be said.
>And I love that in the end, Chitty just said "I'm not dying yet". I'm starting to think she just can't die. Damn. Excellent work.
Chitania does NOT lie down and die. If death comes for her, she's going to punch it in the face.
Sure, you can kill all her friends, ruin almost a year of preparation, smack down a plan that should have gone completely unnoticed, shoot her mouth full of dragon poison with a one in a million shot before having said plan ruined by yet another one in a million shot, neutralize her one chance to actually fight a god and then beat the everloving shit out of her across the landscape before blowing so many chunks off of her you could glue them together and make an entirely separate if shorter Chitania, then drown her, then explode the drowned bits, but that's no reason to give up!
Drag your open wounds through sand and into a jungle likely filled with animals who can smell your blood and want to eat a wounded animal and walk it off!
...you know I know she's a villain but at some point I feel like a judge would just call it even assuming she had actually managed to kill someone.
It would be really weird to address CANTERLOT this late in the game, we're talking 9 months after the fact here. Worst case scenario some new immigrants would have arrived/the shops would have been closed and replaced/ANYONE WOULD HAVE MENTIONED IT WHEN THEY ALL LIVE THERE/etc.
Sorry to say but that boat has majorly gone by now if that's what you wanted to do for Canterlot.
Cress Peak hooked a worn hoof into a rocky crevice, slowly hauling herself up another one and a half feet. The wind blew in her ears, a gentle whirl that passed between the peaks of the mountain range.
Eyeing that outcrop she had identified 5 minutes ago, the mare huffed and shifted her weight some more, practiced hooves hooked into the shallow parts of the steep mountain face. Magic swiftly pulled three a hook and glided it next to the outcrop, feeling the rope go taut, she hefted her body up further, hooves finding purchase on the lip.
She took a moment to look to her left, the towering form of Old Ethelbald standing above the peak of the mountain she clung to now; Old Giselda. Her heart thumped with pride, once she had scaled the top of this mountain, she'd finally earn her own determination to climb the tallest mountain in Old Crones Range.
The distant booming however, brought that swell of pride to a halt, she had sussed it to be a distant thunderstorm, yet thunderstorm or not, she didn't feel safe clinging to rock face as it got closer.
Cress Peak quickly clambered onto the rocky outcrop, blessedly flat and level, even with a recess in the mountain side to give her limited shelter. She looked up; not much further to go to the top, before pressing up against the miniscule covering alcove. Her harness and coat ruffled and clanked as she pressed herself against it, those rumbles getting louder, closer.
She bit her lip as the booms arrived. Just weather the storm, she thought, weather it like everything else, the cold, the wet, the wind, weather it and then climb to the top.
She tried to focus her mind on her goal, she had worked to scaling Old Ethelbald for a year now, she had never climbed something so big, the prospect of reaching top, alone, all by herself, thrilled her, steeled her on.
1/?
>>
>>29833790
Her reviere was cut as the booming and tumbling began to shake her, instincts of near misses kicked in, she curled into a ball, got low, pressed against the rock hard, gripped with whatever she could, hooks cracking into recessed rock with desperate magic.
It had to be an avalanche... this much vibration could only mean falling rocks coming towards her, to cut her down from her goal...
But she was so close. She couldn't-
Sole Peak's train of thought was brought to a loud stop as the air was filled with a deafening blast and crack, then another... and again, other and other. It sounded to her like the end of the world, she pressed her hooves to her ears, eyes squinting shut as hard as they could.
The blasts and booms refused to stop, in fact more joined them, as though cascading into an endless cacophony of noise, a howling blast of wind whipped her coat and harness about her, the air wooshing past, scattering loose stone and pebbles away in a blink of an eye.
It stung, her fur stung from the wind as it battered against her, her ears stung from the endless noise, her eyes stung from the dust and gravel that blasted across her face other and other.
She didn't know how long it lasted, the wind, the rumbling booms, the endless noise.
But ultimately, it let up, Cress felt her ears ring over and over, her eyes creaking open slowly, blurred, battered, but she was still alive.
She made it, she was still...
Almost completely blind, the air was thick with cloying grey dest, she coughed and hacked, pulling up the lapels of her coat to cover her mouth. Bringing her goggles over her eyes, trying to keep herself protected.
Even with those on, she still coughed, still could only barely see into the far distance.
She squinted, something had happened, close by, something create this enormous storm of dust that gently blew past her. She could hear rumbles, less explosive as the others, but not a moment went by without the familiar sound of stone on stone
2/?
>>
>>29833796
She couldn't believe her eyes at what she saw, they went wide, her jaw hung open beneath her lapels.
Old Ethelbald...
Her lifelong dream had been to scale mountains like these, ever since she got her cutiemark, climb to the top of the world... higher and higher...
Now Old Ethelbald was gone... all that left was a jagged, ugly crumble of rock that were the inners of a mountain. The grand peak, those clinging trees that scattered it's slopes, they were gone... an entire geographical landmark was simply not there...
She looked down, disbelieving as she went, the remains of the mountain, giant unreal chunks of millenia old rock scattered about, chunks that broke into chunks into slabs into boulders, as she watched she saw rocks
tumble and break apart, crashing against eachother as gravity pulled them down.
The distant sounds of deep clatters alerted her to chunks of rock that fell beyond the mountain crashing to the ground... and other mountains. She stared agape as the shape of a jagged piece of the peak fell far from the clouds of dust and crash into the fields below, a dark brown ring thrown into the air in the impact.
Her eyes travelled along that ground, what was mountainside forest was the remains of a landslide unlike anything she'd ever seen, there was not a single tree in sight, they were flattened beneath the miasma of dust and the solid, crushing bodies of mountain rock ripped free from their home.
Cress felt her strength fail, and she slumped on the rocky outcrop... she didn't know what to do...
She could climb to the top of the mountain she was on, complete her journey... but then what?
Her drive, her dream was to climb higher, higher than anypony else. Now her goal, that mighty, statuesque sight of the highest peak she had so far seen... was gone... Ripped from her before her very own eyes.
Moments passed, between the dusty wind and the crumbling stone and rock... a lost voice spoke out
"What do I do now..."
That's all I currently have for PONIES REACT: ENVIRONMENTAL DESTRUCTION AND DIFFERNTIATING LOSS
I did have something planned with those scorched grass plains, to do with how a natural foodstuff source for grazing animals had been ruined by fire and boom-boom. yet all I could come up with were some fucking wildebeast Cows to be the characters, and I had nooo idea how they'd exist in this world, let alone any sentient creature that wasn't hooked up on some level of agriculture or civilisation.
Kinda >mfw trying to write that one up.
If I clonk onto a people/race that fits the canon and is afflicted by the grass plain loss I'll get back to it
But right now I'm drawing a big fucking blank
>>
Buffalo? They're dedicated to a singular path of running and are willing to fight rather than move it, they'd very much localize where they grazed.
Horror. Real, genuine horror like none that had ever been felt, that's what the ponies gathered on the rooftop experienced in that moment.
It had only been a flash, just a second. The citizens of Manehatten had heard the booming flashes, and as one those closest had rushed up to the top of their highrise, all of them expecting to see a rolling batch of clouds coming in at the wrong time from a mistaken weather force, or an airshow of some other wild group that wanted to strut it's stuff. Whatever it had been, all the occupants knew was that they had to see it. Together, they wished they hadn't.
It had already come and gone a while ago. The threat had passed by now completely, leaving only shattered glass and knocked over carts or ponies down below. There hadn't been a single serious injury, the worst of it was without question the occasional minor cut of said broken shards or the loss of hearing in their ears. Yet none of them moved. All who had seen it pass by, just for an instance, stayed staring at that spot it had come and gone to, none could bring themselves to look away. What had passed over them had taken their minds and their hearts with them and they could not be moved. It had come, and it had gone.
Two beings of such immense size, immense power, had passed over them. Sizes that would have dwarfed the very building they stood on right that second, one that already seemed impossibly high to their perception. If they had come down at that moment, everyone in their way would have been wiped clean, and nothing could have been done to stop it. Not a single pony had died in that city from that flight passed, not even one had been hurt, but all of them, every one, felt it. The feeling of being so very small.
All of them, every one, felt so insignificant.
>mfw more people are joining the "These fight scenes are awful for everyones health" train
>>
>>29834153
Guy who wrote that. Well... yeah? Of course it is. If it wasn't, there would be little tension in the fights outside of the personal and immediate.
The fact there's lasting damage the more fights go on is a GOOD thing, it makes them more interesting and more fun! Chitty going hogwild isn't as much fun without a sense of scale to realize just how BIG the damage is when she goes all out, it's why every single Godzilla movie has to have multiple shots of people screaming and running and sweeping shots of damage, we hunger for it because we know it's huge. I want to know there's living souls down there because otherwise there's no point to the fight being so big, you know? Those punches could have been done at any size, what made it unique against all the others in the series is that this was the first time it was two BIIIIIGGG motherfuckers tearing at each other, and KKA masterfully nailed the sense of scale by describing the landscape and how much power went into every blow.
Fights scenes are obviously awful for someone's health, otherwise it's just two characters pillowfighting, and we need to save that for the sexy scenes!
>>
>>29834182
...I was focusing more on the later, post-battle consequences of those fight scenes, sure the tension is increased by the "oh shit so much stuff is gonna break" But we never really covered what the after effects of those breakages are, who they affect, how badly, how much is lost.
Not just in life or material damage.
I do. It's why I hope she's dead. It's one thing to be defeated and dead. They all must hear.
As far as any could be found, as fast as their fastest machines and pegasi could fly them, they were being delivered. Every corner of the world must hear came the call, every single soul must see they screamed louder.
The agents of a singular company in all of Eqeustria held the words, held the sights, held the answers that all must see.
From the eyes of a monster, blurry and unfocused the magical image may be, they delivered to all. The sights of a battle beyond the scope they'd ever seen, a battle beyond any that had ever been fought in the skies above Equestria.
A victory.
All must hear, must read, must see that victory came the call, and with it, came the delivery.
As one they spread, to every settlement, to every land, to every species, and all did hear.
The reaction was slow at first. Disbelief, suspicion, talk of trickery came through the world, but one by one the truth made through to their minds, and their hearts. Several had seen the battle, nearly all had heard the world shake beneath them, with this they could hear the truth, and believe.
Like wildfire, it spread. Through every city, every town, every sight out far beyond the beaten path, it spread.
The cheer.
From the tallest peak, to the most massive tower, to the lowest ditch, to the house so very mundane amidst it all, came the cheer.
"IT'S OVER!"
Each one gave their cheer.
Each one celebrated in their own way.
At long, long last, the beast that had attacked them, the one who had escaped justice so many times before, the one who had caused such destruction and such pain to them without any regard to those beneath her mighty steps had fallen.
At long last the nightmare was over.
The Titan was no more.
As one, they cheered.
"THANK YOU!"
1/2
>>
>>29834441
The tears joy, breathless words of praise as they held and hugged and danced with one another found only one, only a single soul they felt deserved it at the end of it all.
Their call reached not to princesses, not to gods of chaos, not to chosen warriors of the crown. Their thanks were for one, and only one.
Far beyond their sound, still looking out over the ocean she's cast the beast into, it reached her. Not in her ears, not in true sound, but in something far more powerful inside.
The mare atop the Titan of metal, rain pouring down over her face, felt their cheers.
To their cheers, to their joy, she smiled, and at last could rest.
"I did it..."
The whisper lost to all rolled free.
"I did it..."
At long last, her nightmare what over.
The nightmare of Equestria was over.
Gone was the era of the Titan, and her fears.
Now began a new era.
Ushered in by a simple earth pony mare.
A new dawn had begun.
"...I've made them all obsolete..."
Their cheers were only the beginning.
Speaking of love making, was it ever brought up whether Flash's love was the same as a regular pony in regards to a Changeling feeding on it? Seems like something Sunset might want to check up on for reasons.
>>
>>29834933
....why?
It should be, love is supposed to be an inner feeling based on sapience and sentience in tandem with a broader ideal of what the connection means, if 7's experiments are anything to go by. The intensity level varies from pony to pony but so long as they have a magical connection to the greater magic, like earth pony or alicorn or unicorn magic, they should be able to be fed on.
Flash was the same before... uh...
