It is not really clear what exactly was going on here was defected a typo of defective or is she saying we defected from the empire, although in neither case do I understand the responses people gave. Presenting a new text quest, inspired by “Just Another Day” and "Dirty Work": RePony! The emphasis will be on slice of life with mystery added in. I’ll be running it 9-12 CST today, tomorrow, and Friday, with more to come next week.

It is a tough balancing act using a premade character on /mlp/ when it comes to personality, you need to keep them consistent but you also need to not take them to far away from what the players want. I think vince has done a decent job of it so far.

So far I have to say my biggest complaint about symphony is everybody apparently forgot that crap about doing it to help ponies was just a lie we told. I am fine with it becoming truth that we want to use our position to help (although I do think it has been happening to fast, that is just because some of the players are desperate to rush headfirst into it). However many of the players seemed to be forgetting it so I do wish there was reminders of the truth whenever we gave the lie.

Overall, my opinion about the first session of this quest is... lukewarm.

The writing is okay. Good even. But assuming that the quest will mainly focus on slice of life, I am concerned for the plot to become very contrived very quickly for two reasons.

First becasue of the amnesic trope and key Mc Guffin we have which fails to excite me the slightest, and instead I feel like some unwanted family destiny shit may fall on us at the most unwanted moment.
I sure hope the Qm hasn't plotted for wall Twilight to fall because of the colossal mare titan and we have to go the basement of our house only that key can open.

Second because unlike in Just Another Day, we aren't our own boss right now, but someone else's helper. So for now we don't have the liberty to create our own thing like we had in JAD, something which in my opinion was one of the most interesting aspect of the quest.

Just because it was in the first post doesn't necessarily mean it'll be easier to remember than shit that happened later in the quest.
If whatever was mentioned was mentioned months ago, then it was mentioned months ago, and I'm not going to remember it any better months later just because it occurred at a specific point in the story. You could provide the excuse that it'd be easier to look up if it was in the first few posts, but if I don't remember it, I won't know to look it up in the first place.
Another possibility could be that during the first thread or so, people are still trying to determine whether or not they'll bother to continue reading/participating, and may not be taking it as seriously as they would a quest they have grown to care about over time. They may not be as likely to remember things that happened while they were still unsure of whether or not they gave a shit, especially if it's a small detail that doesn't get brought up often or at all after the first thread.
Yet another excuse is that people just don't have perfect memories. Some people just forget shit, whether they think it's important or not.
