Celestia has been blown the fuck out far too many times for that claim to hold. Luna has been compromised by her own feelings of inadequacy and almost doomed Equestria twice (Nightmare/Tantabus) over them. Cadence is a meme, and Twilight's had her share of fuckups that get covered up by her friends.

True to an extent. While a cutiemark shows their talent, it is still up to the individual to monetize it in their own unique way. Rarity, despite having a great gem finding ability, is able to utilize them to make dresses that astound even the Canterlot Elite and to even fit in among their ranks. Their role in society is only limited to what the individual can think of under them.

Not quite. Its more akin to certain areas being capitols of certain races. Canterlot strikes me as an old age unicorn capital post-union where earth ponies and pegasai are allowed to live, but was under the heavy influence of nobles.

Likewise, Cloudsdale was/is the old Pegasai Capital, and the Wonderbolts are of their creation. Also, Earth Ponies serve as Royal Guard (and Bats as Night Guard), so military exclusivity is not specific to Pegasai.

Every other area save for Appleloosia seems to be fairly diverse as well.

Hardly. Creatures of pure friendship like Ponies would probably be utterly disgusted by fascists. Kinda like their own families.

The show doesn't even try to pretend that the races are equal. Winter Wrap Up is literally a story about how racially superior Twilight is having trouble coping with backward Earth pony customs. It takes all the Earth and Pegasus ponies working together for a day to do something Twilight could accomplish in 15 minutes. In fact the entire first few seasons are a fish-out-of-water story where Twilight, a well-bred elite from the capital city, is thrust into an environment of commoners and peasants out in the sticks.

When AJ and Rainbow have their competition, Rainbow's wings are a clear advantage. Applejack even says that it's unfair for her to use them. It doesn't look like AJ has any extra special strength or "earth powers" to compensate.

How do you win a fight against a powerful unicorn? Bring another unicorn. There is no other way. Unicorns such as Twilight, Starlight, Moondancer and others are depicted as highly intelligent, studious, and organized. Something not really seen in any of the other races.

well, yeah. They more or less have to be since they're supposed to embody all three races. Its to prevent any sort of bias that any race rules over the other two. A balancing act.

More like Twilight's so reliant on using her magic and being studious that she couldn't handle menial labor or animal care in an Earth Pony tradition and was trying to do something out of her natural element. The only thing that the Earth Ponies/Pegasai needed was proper organization to not be late, and Twilight "Check list for a Checklist" Sparkle is just autistic enough for the job.

She's also known to be a super fast pegasus, even among her own kind. The Event's also called the Running of the Leaves, not "My Little Time Attack: Fall Edition". There was a historic reason behind it. You could logic that Twilight could teleport through the course to a similar effect if it was just about winning.

Catch them unaware, magic inhibitors like smooze goo, Poison Joke (potential), the Anti-Magic throne and other methods are proof that its possible to neutralize magic. The problem is that unlike any of the other defined strengths (weather management, food production and above average durability), magic has been allowed to go out of control for the sake of plot convenience.

Are soft-clones of Twilight of varying levels each. Cheerilee and Doctor Whooves are also fairly intelligent by their own profession's requirement, and even Gabby could handle calculus. Unicorns may have an inclination to such studies, but that doesn't exclude others from participating or even being disadvantaged in such fields.

Princesses aren't that powerfull, while Celestia have thousand years of experience, she spent that time rulling peacefull and utopian kingdom, so she is unprepared for many things. And Luna spent that on moon.

Also Equestria is like Switzerland but with food instead of money. We can asume that their world don't have technology to industrialize agriculture, so feeding citizens is big problem for other nations. But with earth pony magic and control over the weather Equestria can produce gigantic amounts of food and sell it elsewhere. No one wants to attack them because it would cause starvation in whole region.

Because as far as unicorns go Twilight is a prodigy trained by god, same applies to the applebuck season episode, Twilight spent her entire life improving herself so it makes sense she can do all that shit alone, most unicorns stick with basic levitation spells because they don't need to learn anything else (unless they want to specialize in magic like Twiggy or Moondancer)

I believe the race roles are more tied to their origins, earth ponies have generations of experience so new tricks are passed down more easily, same could apply to the other two races, since it works so well most of them just roll with that but it doesn't mean they can't learn other things that don't require a horn or wings

Also the "wings are unfair" thing falls under the same category, Topcunt is the fastest flier in Equestria so of course her wings would break the race, that would be like bringing a jet to a car race

This, of course, raises the question if the average earth pony can keep up with the average flying pegasus in a race
