Yah the ride peaked, but that doesn't mean that the ride is shit now. We're still pumping out art, videos, music, and the pony conventions still have a bunch of pony. I'm going to Bronycon so I'll see how much other-fandom stuff is in there..

Yah we aren't 10/10 anymore, but to say we're at a 2-4/10 like these articles/reviews make it seem is bullshit. This is still fun, and it just sucks to see people just think about it in relation to season 2.

It has made so much money and has such global reach that it just honestly seems like autism if they turn someone who has actual skills away because of it. Well yeah, the pony fandom was completely tainted by the "brony" culture when it was formed.

It's a typical double standard situation. Just because the cartoon is oriented on little girls demographic everybody immediately assumed these guys are pedophiles and it thrown a huge stigma on being an adult mlp fan.
While this is clearly not fair. There are a lot o great cartoons, usually intended for kids or teens and I watched and liked many of them.
i think it's perfectly understandable that creators don't want to be associated with this community because of this. It sucks, but that's how this world works right now.
on top of then, all content creators have their own decisions to make and they I don't want them to feel like they are trapped in the fandom just because it's sad they'll leaving right now.

People are in a bit in denial about the mlp fandom not falling apart. A lot of people were in for the novelty and that's something we don't have anymore.
The merge with /pol/ proved that. A lot o content was created in 2 days just because we felt all the energy similar to when mlp community started with plenty of people to share your work with in matter o minutes. Ofc that was temporary and already mixed with another idealogy. The only way to get mlp fandom back to its feet is with a flood of new enthusiastic people with the pure pony love we have. And that is not going to happen any more... The movie or S7 might bring some people back and maybe some new people as well... but generaly speaking, probably not...

Well, at least I'm happy they are quitting as content-creators - not as actual fans.

As much as I love everything this fandom makes - I do agree it's stupid to dedicate the vast majority of your time to make fan works. People have to live somewhere, eat, pay bills, and support their families.
People need a proper job and have to work to get one. And while animating MLP content will make you a better animator - not limiting yourself only to horses will make you improve at much faster pace.
It could've been a more questionable decision, were Duo Cartoonist to make $3k+ revenue solely from ponies, but that's not the case and given they are a married couple aspiring to be professional animators they have to think about their future.

I do have concerns why does it have to be "no more ponies" in this particular blunt way, but I would be very happy if they will still make something pony-related as a hobby yet again - not as an obligation to fans - even if it'll be very simplistic and a few years later.

It's not about providing the fandom with a constant stream of content. It's about having fun and remembering your roots - why were you here in the first place?
