Here's a quick rundown:

There are six seasons now with at least two more confirmed. Cadence is still married to Shining, but his character has been expanded upon and they even have a child. The biggest change comes at the end of Season 3, when Twilight becomes an alicorn and thus a princess. Season 3 was really fucking shit overall, but 4-6 are actually pretty decent. Season 5 also introduces Starlight Glimmer, a new pony who features prominently in S6 as Twilight's student (and is confirmed to be important in S7). Those are the major things, of course there are many episodes, plots, and smaller changes I can't put into one post. Oh, and the Crusaders did indeed get their cutie marks.

You'll like the S5 2-part opener. It's a really, really hard redpill against communism and socialism.

When was that ever said? Starlight is as powerful as Twilight, who might be a new alicorn but she is nowhere near as powerful as her teachers

Twilight being an alicorn pretty much only means she has a higher capacity for magic and power, hence her being able to absorb alicorn magic of the princesses, but she struggled to learn how to use it....she's a beginner, on the other side I've yet to see Starlight be capable of using or harnessing alicorn magic, which she couldn't because she isn't one
