Well, yeah, I mean, I'm not defending a thread with nothing but empty bumps, but the thread I was talking about didn't have many more bumps than previous threads, and for some reason they received an exaggerated reaction this time. Pretending that someone who could keep the thread alive shouldn't bump it if he can't post a pic is a bit extreme.

And I admit that it would make sense to stop bumping the thread and to stop reposting it right away if there were worthy threads that we were killing but, again, earlier today the board was flooded with spam started by just one retard, so I refuse to accept the "quality" argument here.

Sorry for the blogpost, the cringe, and the blatant newfaggotry.

It's been exactly a year since my first post in this thread. And I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you because, although I already loved Rainbow long before I came here, I always had the feeling that I shouldn't feel that way, the feeling that it was wrong. Discovering that other people feel the same way about her meant a lot for me. It was literally the realization that I wasn't alone. I spent years hiding that feeling, and this thread was the first place where I could write "I love this pony", meaning it, and without trying to pass it off as a joke. I can't even begin to describe how much I needed it.

So, thank you, guys. Thank you even to those of you who don't actually love her, but still share this thread because you can see how special she is. And of course thank you to all the writefags who make this a better thread. Thank you all. I'm glad that I got to meet you.

In Bridle Gossip, Twilight is surprised it's such a beautiful morning, stating "Rainbow Dash must've gotten up early for once". In Griffon the Brush-Off, too, it's almost noon when Pinkie wakes up Dash and Gilda. Gay jokes aside, that's pretty late.
Griffon the Brush-Off also gives us an example of a day in Dash's life, Gilda arrives in the morning, they hang out for a bit, Dash goes to take care of some weather jobs while Gilda goes to "chow down".

From this, I think the standard daily routine for Dash (if she gets to choose) is something like:
>Get up late, at 9 or 10 perhaps.
>Have brunch, meander for a bit or see to chores like shopping.
>Go to work at around 12 maybe. No doubt hours she's picked herself.

After that it's a bit harder. We know she doesn't work all afternoon, so she doesn't do a full 8 hour shift. Plus, her line to Gilda:

Two to three hours, at most? Today could be an exception she's planned now that Gilda is visiting, but given how free her evenings are I doubt it's more than 4 on a normal day.

It looks like there's something like six to ten pegasi on the Ponyville weather team.Cloudsdale puts out schedules for regional weather to be maintained. Weather is a powerful chaotic effect and would require constant work to maintain something other than what would naturally occur. I'd think the pegasi would work in two hour shifts, likely in groups of three or four to zip around and maintain whatever weather is scheduled for that day, and same at night. As weather team leader Dash is able to make her team schedule, so she can give herself favorable hours fairly often, but at the same time shes Loyalty and wouldn't take ALL the good shift hours. So I'd think four two hour duty rotations throughout the day. Late morning, early afternoon, dusk, and really late evening.

That's a cool idea, but billable hours would stay the same even if she finishes quickly. She'd still be 'on duty' to maintain the sky during her shifts. She'd just be able to 'slack off' for most of her shift since she can whip the weather in to shape in ten seconds flat.
Off shift time would likely be doing stuff like taking naps, practicing aerial maneuvers, doing favors for ponies, and visiting friends. I assume as an athlete that she eats a LOT too. So frequent breaks to Hayburger or Sugarcube Corner or other favorite haunts.
The funny thing is that managing the weather team would require a lot of organization and I know Dash wouldn't be very keen on that. I guess Twilight or some other pony has been roped into managing the team schedule and budget for her.

Dash doesn't seem to mind nor have any real trouble organizing. She's not Twilight, sure, but she's not a believer in "organized chaos" like Rarity or single-minded and stubborn like AJ.
In for example Sonic Rainboom she's planned her flight performance down to the tiniest detail, while Rarity picks the music and more or less wings it from there. She has no problem organizing her team in episodes like Hurricane Fluttershy, It Ain't Easy Being Breezies and Winter Wrap Up, either. If anything, I'd say it looks like she's thoroughly enjoying bossing ponies around to meet demands.

I guess what I'm saying is, Dash isn't an OCD like Twilight who gets annoyed because the letters in OCD aren't in alphabetical order, but she's good when it comes to practical organization and problem-solving.

The Return of Harmony. It was just temporary, and Dash knowing that it was just temporary probably made it much easier for her. But she had no reason to believe Discord, and she could stop freaking out after just a few seconds anyway.
I have no doubt that flying is her life, but I also think that she's much stronger than that. If Scoots could accept in The Fault in Our Cutie Marks that maybe she'll never fly, I think that Rainbow could get over it too.
And yeah, those aren't good feelings, but I believe in her.

This had me thinking.
Dash's job is probably salary-based, because the workload would vary heavily with seasons. It'd be both easier to budget on Cloudsdale's end, and a good motivator for flawless operation on Dash's end. They'd have a small roster of pegasi with normal employment and hours, a number of pegasi working half-time or working seasonally (for example, pegasi who help with the harvest during summer and fall, and work with weather during the heavy spring storms and winter season), and a few special occasions that drafts every able-bodied pegasus to do their public duty (bringing the water to Cloudsdale, for example).

Day to day weather probably more or less sorts itself out according to Cloudsdale schedule, and Dash would set up a simple work rotation for the employees and handle emergencies as they arise (for example in a CMC episode (I think... Forgot which... S3 to S5 I'm guessing) when she's whipping shape into a few rogue clouds that blew in from Everfree).

That said, she's got a wingpower of over 16, which is more than twice the average, so she could probably do a full 8 hour day's worth of weather control in just under 4 hours.

I get that the green was a prank itself, I can take a joke, and I'm not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, but the idea of Rainbow being so much of a cunt to drive Anon to suicide but still being sensitive enough to regret something that would torment her forever is soul-crushing. I think that reading this with the memories of 28PL still too fresh made it worse than it actually is.

I wonder how many people were tempted to rewrite the original ending of that green. I looked for it in the archive, and this is the 3rd time that it's been posted, but it's the first time it gets an alternate ending. Although the previous 2 times it was posted in AiE, where the share of Dashfags is definitely lower than here.
