He's now MrGemator, and he does only Stephen Universe animations.

How about you send him a message on twitter or something and ask him yourself. If he doesn't reply then he's obviously dead and not your problem.

>>29763621
I was just hoping somebody here would know so I wouldn't have to bother the guy.
>>
>>29763385
He has a job and a irl life now, so he left his mlp projects at side

He closed up shop sometime last year, it's on his tumblr that I don't remember the name of.

Is he the guy who makes cute pixel pony art? Didn't he make a post on here saying he was dropping p0nies, but he'll stop by every now and then?

He is doing pixel animations, he is not dead, just switched the style.

Nothing special, just uni projects and finishing my bachelor's degree; moving onto getting my master's degree next fall.
>>
>>29764517
Nice, what's the degree in, animation I assume?
>>
>>29764541
Information processing science; essentially the same as comp science. I gave up on animation as a career path well before ponies were a thing.
>>
>>29764553
CS, pretty interesting stuff, I love anything with maths in it.
>>
>>29764608
The only real math I've had to deal with is discrete, algorithm analysis and introduction to statistical analysis with R, though I did at first minor in math before changing to a dedicated program for software building in my major.

Of course, the funny thing is that I now don't want a job either as an animator or software developer. I'd rather have a cushy data entry job in a cubicle, or the IT helpdesk position I now hold at a hospital (hell, I even enjoyed working as a groundskeeper in the past).

I like animation and programming as hobbies, but to me they are thankless jobs in the professional field.
>>
>>29764652
>IT helpdesk position I now hold at a hospital
Does sound pretty comfy, I hope to one day be a mathematician for a college, always seemed like a relaxed profession to me.
I once had a friend who was a programmer, he made it seem like hell.
Anyway, I hope you get your degrees.
>>
>>29763884
>I literally can't be a normalfag and still participate in a hobby
I'll never understand why people seem to think they need to let a hobby completely become their identity in order to enjoy it or be part of something involving it. Although I can understand not having much time to dedicate to ambitious projects. But if he left mainly because he lost interest then it's on him and it can't be helped.

>>29764652
>I'd rather have a cushy data entry job in a cubicle
That's the spirit. I'd rather have a mundane and simple job myself for the secure income, but I'm guessing you'll be moving on to a loftier and more lucrative career after uni.
>>
>>29764771
My brother is a fairly established astrophysicist, so I can understand the appeal of math at that level.

Main problem I'd argue that programming has as a job is how more often than not you'd find yourself doing scrunch hours and/or bringing work home, where the latter aspect is the major thing I don't want. I've already spent majority of my life studying and I'd rather keep work and free time separate entities.

Good luck with your studies.

>>29764800
The thing is, back in 2011 I wasn't exactly in the best of spirits, and ponies just happened to fill in the void. It became like an addiction that I couldn't knock off, doing things that were expected of me and even when I tried to distance myself from it (I'm pretty sure a few people can remember the first or second time I did so) I just found myself coming back for more like some sorta alcoholic.

There were some other considerations too, but that's the short of it.

> I'm guessing you'll be moving on to a loftier and more lucrative career after uni.
Nah, I'll likely just continue at the hospital or get a similar job elsewhere. There's a constant "need" for experienced programmers in my area, but I'd rather not.
>>
>>29764652
Goodnight, MrPoniator.
>>
>>29764944
>The thing is, back in 2011 I wasn't exactly in the best of spirits, and ponies just happened to fill in the void
Seems like this has been a recurring theme for a lot of people that got into it. I suppose like any addictive activity the key to controlling the buzz is moderation. Getting over-saturated invariably leads to losing stimulation. Shame it happened for you, but good luck avoiding it happening with your future interests.

>Nah, I'll likely just continue at the hospital or get a similar job elsewhere
Interesting choice. But why work toward a degree if you already qualify for the kind of work you'd be comfortable with? Insurance for if you need to switch careers somewhere down the line maybe?
>>
>>29765004
>But why work toward a degree if you already qualify for the kind of work you'd be comfortable with? Insurance for if you need to switch careers somewhere down the line maybe?
You nailed it. Student life admittedly is also cheap, as my rent is only 230e/mo for a decent two-way shared flat.

>Student life admittedly is also cheap
I admit back when I was working toward a degree I may have taken advantage of a few federally-funded programs that provided free living space, regular meals, paid full tuition, and provided transportation. Have fun while you can, real life sure bit me on the ass afterward.
>>
>>29765099
The main difference between (assumably) you Americans and us Uralic faggots is that university is essentially free, as is basic education. All you have to pay for per year is membership in the student union (which is necessary for some services, like getting discounted meals at the uni restaurants) and even that is only like ~100e per semester. All you have to worry about is books, and even for majority of courses those mostly aren't mandatory outside of extended reading for anyone interested. Of course, this varies by the faculty you roll in.

We do have taxes up the ass, but can't argue with free education or basic health care.
>>
So MrPoniator, if you're really here and this isn't just some ruse, do you have any plans on ever coming back?
>>
>>29765180
If anything, I may or may not do one final thing for youtube, but you shouldn't count on it. At best, I may drop by once in a blue moon and do some little thing, like I did on valentine's.

Anyway, it's 3AM, so I'm gonna skedaddle. G'night.

>I may or may not do one final thing for youtube, but you shouldn't count on it
Either way, it's fine by me.
It's been fun talking, good night.
>>
>>29765163
Your taxes aren't even that bad. It's just that most people don't know how many taxes we pay here in the US.

If you're on the lowest rung that can still afford an apartment with a roommate near a city, you'll pay 15% income tax, 15% income tax AGAIN for SS/Medicaid, state taxes, and finally your state's sales tax.

At the end of the day, a person scraping to get by is saying goodbye to more than 30% of his income, but it's broken up into a lot of hidden parts. Meanwhile, all the hardcore tax breaks and exemptions are at the top.

As long as you aren't paying over 30% of your income to taxes while not receiving education or medicine, you're getting a better deal than an American.

Damit, can't believe I missed MrPoniator. Still love that mother fuckers animations and all.

One last bump

You know what other animator I miss? ZavCoyote. He did a "hard exit" out of the fandom, deleting all his pony stuff, being ashamed that he was ever involved in anything pony related.

It's called "bandwagoning kids", anon.
They never have their own opinion - they follow the trend. The cool stuff. MLP was "cool" when it exploded and was everywhere, even in the news. The next thing that was "cool" a bit later was to hate and bash on MLP - hence the result.

I generally love and adore all the content creators that were ever affiliated with MLP, but one person I can't bring myself to like would be Alex S who had to be vocal about quitting the fandom, moved his pony-related videos which basically made him who he is away from his main account and yet, the first EQG opening which was an open shout-out to the fandom musician had a song of this fuck as the main reference.
Turning away from such a display of respect is simply disgusting.

Say, TLT might not be doing new pone music and might not be watching the show anymore, but he at least shows proper respect to the fandom.
>>
>>29768504
Most pathethic "leaving the fandom" guy was Tommy Oliver

>>
>>29768648
You beat me to it anon, glad some people still have their wits about them
>>
>>29768436

Well... let be honest, MLP is literally cringe for everyone outside the fandom and can close the door to a lot of possibilities.
>>
>The creative industry sees work on MLP as cringy and unprofessional
>One of, if not the most successful major franchise reboots of all time
>Completely reshaped what the public think about when they think "My Little Pony"

I don't get it. Why would the creative industry, which has benefited so much from MLP's success, shun it so much? I guess Faust didn't take into account that no matter how much she tried to change MLP and no matter how much it changed, some people just refuse to move on from their interpretation.
>>
>>29769163

>One of, if not the most successful major franchise reboots of all time

five years ago, now no one give a fuck about the franchise

Some Argie fuck who tries to start shit but can't speak English correctly. Usually leaves of "s" in sentences because he is an ESL idiot who doesn't understand that everyone sees through his attempts at trying to start shit because he can barely type.
>>
I don't get why he left. The SU fandom is way smaller than is one. It's not like tumblr cunt pay for anything anyway.
Why not do both? Didn't he post here a few times?

Sheeet, I only knew this guy because he made Payday 2 trailers
Didn't know he was this much of a faggot
>>
I feel like what killed it with a ton of artists, songfags, writefags, ect. leaving was both the salt over twilicorn and Equestria Grills, the Scruffening killing a ton of willingness to make new OC for ages because of fears of faggots going report happy because MUH RULES, and also as said above the animation industry considering MLP to be more cringe than Ren & Stimpy or even all of South Park combined because they still believe that no one other than little grills should ever watch it because lel old people.
