You know I'm kind of honestly surprised you guys keep this board going after this many years? Why haven't you burnt out yet?

I haven't been on this board or seen the show since mid 2013-ish so I have no idea whats been going on.
>>
>>29749357
>Why haven't you burnt out yet?
Because there is no cure for autism.
>>
I don't know how anyone stays on /mlp/ during hiatuses. I'd start suffering from cabin fever after a month or two.
>>
>>29749502
Honestly, I'm just here because people here are honest and there's pony to be had
>>
Booze. Sticklers for the ride.
I don't want the ride to stop.
I'd love to do a shitty karaoke of Winter Wrap Up on skype tonight
>>
>>29749357
>>
>>29749357
I burnt out years ago, lurking and posting on /mlp/ has essentially become habit for me, like shitting and cooking meals.

Doesn't mean I don't enjoy /mlp/ still, I just know I'd be doing something way more productive with my time if I wasn't spending it here

Also the show is still good, and that's what it still is, a good cartoon.

MLP came out during a time when children's programming was at a very low point.
For a fantastic cartoon to rise from the ashes AND be My Little Pony of all shows, well it was too much for /co/ to process.

Years later? There a simply more shows existing in 2017 that are on par with MLP, some cartoons IMO exceeding it.

I guess the ride never ends or whatever, but as long as MLP keeps banging out consistently good episodes, with the movie on the way, and my autistic self stays attached to this nostalgic battleground, then I don't see myself leaving any time soon.

Just curious, what shows do you think surpass MLP? Everyone is raving about Star Vs. these days, but I still enjoy MLP more, personally.
>>
>>29749357
I still love the pony. I like the show, the books, the board, 4cc when it's on, and even some of the comics. I started at the beginning of S2 and still have somehow not burnt out
>>
>>29749502
I actually prefer the hiatus time
>>
I simply apply the lesson I learned from the JOJO fandom, and the lesson I learned from this one.

From the Jojo fandom: FANMADE CONTENT. Do you know why this fandom's getting big again? The Jojokes. It's fun to like Jojo and take part in this massive over-the-top lively and fun party.

From the MLP fandom: Kindness. I'm kind to my fellow bronies wherever I see them, even if they do """Cringey""" shit like having a crush on a pony or making fanmade content. Those """Cringey""" things are just part of being a brony, and the sooner you get over your cognitive dissonance and accept that some faggots will call you cringey for being different from them and that makes them pathetic, the happier you'll be.

Signed, a former hater, now proud brony watching season 3.
>>
>>29749357
As much as I hate to say it, generals keep the board active during the hiatus.
I mean season 7 premieres in a couple weeks, so you can bet that as long as there's a show to watch, they'll be horsefuckers watching it/shitposting about it.
>>
>>29749357
I think the stable flow of content (both official and fan-made) generates a constant influx of newfags, while the majority if oldfags are still loyal.

The bandwagoners are long gone, so we we're not fast as we were used to be.
>>
>>29751521
Star Vs is actually kinda shitty. It's toonboom trash, there's no logic, it pretends to have a deep plot but doesn't, star is one of the most unbearable of rich well-off sociopathic impulsive dumb bitches ever, and the guy's kind of a loser.

If I had kids and I could choose what they grew up watching and considering good role models, it'd be My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. And the original ATLA. LOK is ok for fun, but it doesn't come close to the original's greatness.

What other cartoons are out there? Steven Universe? It's shit, it pretends to be deep but it's shit, and its fanbase is a cancer I wouldn't want my kids anywhere near. A genuine kid-killing cancer. Remember Zamii?

The only other modern cartoon I'd put anywhere near FIM's level is Gravity Falls, and that show finished a while ago. The only other modern show I'd put near FIM's level is Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, which is amazing.

This. But it's the final season. Leave it to Adult Swim to value quality over quantity no matter what, with a unified vision for the direction and conclusion of the show no matter how popular it might be.

Can you imagine Hasbro, or any other network, doing that, concluding MLP: FIM at the apex of its popularity because quality trumps everything?

I don't watch anything other than MLP nowadays and I don't want it to end. Even at its worst it's still entertaining enough, it still has cute ponies and heartwarming moments. As much as I dislike some newer episodes and current direction, the truth is I can't imagine letting go of this show.

There is a minority of very vocal detractors, but most of us still enjoy the show. I think it does have a larger proportion of weak episodes than it used to have and a few terrible ones, but it still has good episodes, a few great ones, and worthwhile development.

It's a webm of Twilight using telekinesis on RD.

>>29757841
If you aren't so much into the show but want to watch a few, here are a few episodes that, from what I've seen, /mlp/ found almost unanimously great.

- S5E12 - Amending Fences. Remember that scene in S1E1 where Twilight's Canterlot friends want to invite her to hang out, but Twilight says she has to study and runs off? It builds on the lore of that scene in which she visits her old friends.

- S5E1/2: The Cutie Map - Introduction to Glimmer and her semi-communist ideology.

- S5E5: Tanks for the Memories - RD episode of which I'm not fond but /mlp/ liked it. RD's pet tortoise hibernates.

- S5E25/26: Cutie Re-Mark - Mainly for lore of Glimmer's redemption if you care about that.

- S6E8: A Hearth's Warming Tale - A fantastic musical with some of the best songs in the series.

- S6E11: Flutter Brudder - Fluttershy visits her parents and deals with her NEET brother.

- S6E24: Top Bolt - Solving a friendship problem like old times: dealing with a co-dependent relationship.

Apologies if you disagree; I tried to be fair and go off /mlp/ rather than my personal favorites, which are largely these but diverge a bit.

This was without a doubt the worst season for her. Even including STFF, which I liked, and Top Bolt, which was great, Newbie Dash and 28PL were fucking cancer. Literally 0/10 episodes, just one of them would be enough to ruin the season for me. And we had two.
>>
>>29758062
I don't know why he posted that comment when he wasn't me. Regardless, >>29757900 is a meaningless post.
>>
Well for one, I didn't dislike the last season, I just like my colorful horses. And while the board itself isn't nearly as amusing as it used to be it's still a good place to discuss the show and wait for the break to end.
>>
>>29758069
For your own sake, I think you shouldn't let a few episodes ruin a whole season. I suggest regarding episodes on an individual basis since the division into seasons is more or less arbitrary anyway. Even seasonal story arcs like Glimmer's friendship lessons occur in only a few episodes.
>>
>>29758069
I think Top Bolt is underrated, if nothing else Twilight and Rainbow interactions are fairly rare so it's nice to see it covered more.
>>
>>29758119
It's a good advice, but it's not that I chose to let those episodes ruin the season for me, it's something that happened. And it's not that I couldn't enjoy the other episodes, there were some great episodes. But if now I look back and think, "would I rather not have watched this season?", the answer is yes. For the first time ever, I wish I hadn't watched the last season.
>>
>>29758187
I feel you man, there are some episode I wish I hadn't watched. And actually there are a few I outright skipped in S6, which has never ever happened before. Some of them I watched later but some I don't think I'll ever watch. Be cautious about S7, you can always just watch some eps later when you get a glimpse of what they are over here.
>>
>>29758222
So long as you never give an opinion on topics strongly relevant to the episodes you skipped, you can skip episodes, however unfortunate it is to do so.
>>
>>29749357
Writefag here. The standard for content is generally fairly low, so it's pretty easy to get a positive response. I come here whenever my esteem is low, churn out some green and the response makes me feel better about myself. I literally only come here to write, and I haven't watched the show since the end of season 3.
>>
I'm waiting for someone to tell me what's really going on here, or what actually went on during the rise of mlp. No one has yet an answer. a brief moment of brainwashing that no one knows how to explain. Sort of like undertale in 2015. It gets so popular for virtually no reason, and everyone enjoys the hell out of it, then after a few months everyone is done with it. Like nothing even happened, and there was no explanation as to why it was there in the first place...People live far after fandoms die, and far after they die, the art was observed and revered for a time, but then it's like a false memory when you watch it again. and you wonder what was the real explanation for it... It just is how it is.
>>
>>29758254
I never discuss something I don't watch so don't worry, last thing we need is non-watcher opinions. And again, some of them I did watch later (partially because of positive feedback).
>>
>>29758222
Trips confirm. No, yeah, I won't make the same mistake again. I'm not even going to try to skip the bad episodes, I'll watch only those that are universally liked. I don't care if I miss some good episodes, I don't want to watch more painful episodes like those in this season, ever.

>>29758254
If I had watched only the 10-14 best episodes of the season and I had skipped the rest, I wouldn't be replying to every "how was season 6?" with an "it's shit." Take it as you like.
>>
>>29758309
>It gets so popular for virtually no reason
But there IS a reason obviously, it's just a complex reason, a combination of element that's generally takes too long to even describe. There is always an explanation, but it's not always a simple one. If you're willing to do research you're bound to figure it out.
For MLP it was a lot more complex than Undertale and it's hard to trace it back after all these years, but as I witnessed and participated in both fandoms rising I can tell you that there's definitely a very real reason for all of it.
>>
>>29758352
Just glancing over the descriptions is usually enough for me. Sometimes you do end up with hidden gems though. I think being on the lookout on /mlp/ and inevitably reading the discussions bringing up the plot points will sort it out.
>>
O.k. now we're getting somewhere. I think... from my experience watching the first episode on Netflix by accident and now that I watch it I have no Idea why in the hell I'd want to watch it... I got nothin'. It was like an acid trip. but did anyone ever notice this whole thing had like, a sort of weird feel to it... like not exactly kids show etiquette. sort of weird art vibe looking back.
>>
>>29758554
It does have its own style. Just keep watching, it gets even better.
>>
nononono see, I've watched it already, but like, I'm watching it again after a few years, and it's like... what is happening you know?
