Hasbro's opinion of MLP was that it was low effort show to sell toys to vapid little girls. The cartoon was dumbed down and saccharine sweet, with no actual conflict and lots of giggles.

Faust managed to convince Hasbro to reboot the show to appeal to a broader age range. She got them to devote significantly more resources to G4 with the argument that it needed to be engaging enough for parents to watch it with their kids and not be bored out of their minds.

You can thank her aging the entire cast up such that the Mane6 are independently responsible and the CMC aren't still in diapers.

And the compromise between slice of life episodes and adventure that started in S1 are what make the large-budget 2-part season openers and finales possible.

So yeah, I do think Faust did something right. G4 wouldn't have been watchable without her.

Faust did some things right. Lots of things. My only real gripe with the Season 1 is the world-building. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it just wasn't to my tastes. I don't like, say, the running of the leaves or ponies controlling every aspect of the weather. I was happier with the seasons 2-3 and part of 4 Equestria where it was unique pony fantasyland. Now it's just America with ponies, which is disappointing. I'd much rather have the season 1 version of the world where, sure, I didn't love it but at least I thought the creators did.

ftfy. Clearly Hasbro knew that the cheap shit that was Newborn Cuties wasn't going to cut it anymore, hence why they made the effort of hiring Lauren specifically to make a better product. Could it have been watchable under anybody else? It's possible considering they were looking to make a better show to begin with, but at the very least it definitely would have been different than what we got.
