It's tricky dealing with something altering like this cause people,(understandably so) don't want the base design of a character they helped create in the beginning of the cyoa to change, considering that was the hairstyle they chose. But from a story standpoint, it'd make perfect sense that'd he'd want to have a fairly radical change in hairstyle to help throw anyone looking for him off his any trail they could attempt to pick up.
