Season 2 is the only one that holds up, 3 has some good episodes, then it's mostly shit.

Executive meddling made it what it is. Celestia was meant to be a Queen, Luna was meant to be her daughter, there was meant to be way more adventure than there was. Everything you love about season 1 was executives reigning Faust in, exactly in the same way George Lucas was reigned in by his co-workers.

I won't say it was complete shit, because it wasn't, but the pony show was always mediocre, and people liking it at the beginning was ironic for some of us.

This show was always intended to be a commercial for plastic horses and no amount of mental gymnastics will change that. Just accept that what you're feeling is nostalgia, and nostalgia doesn't automatically make something good.

I can tell when nostalgia is disturbing my judgement, and in this case it isn't. I liked the show unironically back then and today I can still watch ponies without being nostalgic and enjoy it because it is actually a good show.

That was always going to happen, season 3 was meant to be the end of the show. As a finale, no one would be crying as much as they are over it. We were unfortunate enough to have executives willing to cater to us in order to get our dosh, that's all. See the talk about the supposed seasons 9 and 10.

My tastes just aren't objective, I suppose, season 1 had a sickening amount of slice of life to me, and The Best Night Ever remains for me the worst finale in the show's history because it was just another slice of life episode with DRESSES, little to no adventure to speak of, which is what we were promised.

I was hoping the show would improve by season 2, but I guess it's the new trend to hire initial talent and then fire them and turn their ideas to trash.

Hasbro promised to produce and publish the toyline for her Galaxy Girls dolls, but a goddamn toy company could not even fulfil their promise on that.

I'm wondering how long Hanazuki's original creators will last before some executive decides to shove his dick in it "I bought and paid for this show, so I get to write it and destroy it however I want".
